I have been to Marinhas many times with my family, and it is one of those restaurants we keep coming back to. For me, that says more than a single great meal ever could. When a place continues to make you want to return, bring your family, sit around the table, eat well, talk, laugh, and stay a little longer, they are doing something right.
The food is excellent, generous, and meant to be enjoyed rather than rushed through. But what I appreciate about Marinhas goes beyond what is on the plate. There is something deeply Portuguese about sitting down for a good meal and allowing it to take the time it takes. You eat, you talk, you pause, you taste something else, and somehow a couple of hours around a table become part of your family memories.
My advice if you come here is simple: don't be in a rush. Give yourself time. Savor the food, enjoy the people sitting across from you, and pay attention to those ordinary moments that we too often hurry past.
We spend enough of our lives watching the clock and thinking about what we have to do next. A good meal with people you love deserves something different. It deserves your attention.
I have shared many meals here with my family, and I hope to share many more.
Come hungry, certainly. But more importantly, come with time.
Sometimes happiness is already sitting at the table. The only mistake is being in too much of a hurry to notice it. read more
