Googled: " Favorite places where locals eat in Aviero," and BdoB came up. We figured what the heck,…read moreand swung by. Hidden in the middle of a residential neighborhood, what a surprise. This secret spot is definitely where the locals eat. Greeting us was a nice aroma of grill, wine, and garlic. The large dining room was packed with a boisterous lunch crowd who were really enjoying themselves. The ambiance was plain, and clean, the fare is authentic, and the staff fantastic and accommodating. We were a bit overwhelmed by the fullness and merriment of the dining room and being Covid adverse asked if we could have an outside table. They wouldn't have us sit outside on a cold windy day and led us to a sparsely populated back dining room, which felt more intimate and safe. The place is family run, sister, uncle, brother, grandparents; they work here. They love food. They love people. You can feel it in the air. You had the sense that even the crowd in the dining room were extended family. Traditional hospitality since 1972 we were told. The food is good basic Portuguese and lots of it. Wonderful fish grilled over an enormous BBQ was what we chose. They don't skimp on portions. Be very hungry if you visit. You'll need the room. Come as strangers, leave as family. Highly recommended.

We have been coming to Batista for several years during our multiple trips to Portugal every year…read more We live in the United States. A reservation was made for 6 people, my cousin was visiting Portugal from Boston. I mentioned to the service manager our desire for my cousins to have a great experience at Batista, similar to what we've experienced over the years! The quality of the Cod is the best, grilled to perfection always!!! You will enjoy your Cod I guarantee you! However, the service was the worst we experienced and expected!!! Literally waited 10 minutes to get waiters attention and he kept ignoring us. We know this is August, service goes down just about everywhere in Portugal as August accounts for busiest month. Besides unexpectedly bad service, the portions were not equitable as what other tables were served! This was true of several tables we saw around us. The service manager brought us another portion of Cod which I refused several times. My comments were aimed at improving this great restaurant, unfortunately my experience was awful with service, rushed, brushed off -- this takes away the 5 stars I would give Batista. In closing, Batista in August may need to be avoided or reconsider a different place, I certainly will do that going forward!

We had an amazing dinner at Flow…read more It was a bit difficult to notice from the street but once inside, the space is a visual delight. The space is divided in three, with an indoor dining area, an enclosed terrace and a bar area. We sat in the enclosed terrace on a lovely night and our service was excellent. Some creative and well-crafted cocktails, classics, and an excellent wine menu are offered. The bartender was awesome and even made a special request Lemon Drop for my wife. The food was equally creative and delicious. As beautiful to look at as well as to consume! Foie Gras was unexpectedly presented and delivered on flavor. As a note, it paired perfectly with their Last Night Bourbon cocktail! Salmon Civiche was fresh and complex with layers of flavors. Wild Boar Lasagna was fantastic, and the Beetroot, Pistachio and Straciatella Ravioli was delicious but probably not for everyone. I loved it, but it was loaded with whole Pistachios, and raw beetroot slices. Odd texture, but still good. Portions were huge and no room for dessert. We would probably share a couple plates on a return visit, but will definitely be back!

We were able to snag a reservation without really knowing what to expect and we definitely were not anticipating this level of elegance! We ended up having a three hour dinner because everything felt so comfortable, peaceful, and lovely. I cannot recommend the sliders with quail eggs on top enough. My husband had the Iberian pork and really enjoyed it, and I absolutely loved my octopus. It was probably some of the best I have ever had. For dessert we had cheesecake and it was just as divine. If you want a dinner you won't forget anytime soon, definitely check out this place.

We ordered a few tapas to share: croquets de alheira and croquets de codfish. Both were so good! We loved it. The star of the show though was the pork neck tacos! They were so delicious! So much flavor and perfect. I got the lemonade and it was just okay. Nothing special. Overall, would 100% recommend this place! Make a reservation if you can but if you can't, would still try to stop by!

Definitely recommend making a reservation, I found it impressive that the hostess's reservation system was essentially a notebook and pen in this digital age. We did not see much of our waiter, since the restaurant was extremely busy and filled up with diners. Standouts: 1. Razor clams - I'll always get these if I see it on the menu. Cooked in this incredible garlic sauce. 2. Fish and seafood cataplana - delicious, tomato-forward seafood stew; I liked the version that we had the night before more which came with rice and was more filling. But this was basically a never-ending bowl of fish, clams, mussels, and shrimp. Add to that the fact that the restaurant like most in Porto did not have A/C and I emerged feeling like I had been sitting in a sauna. Skipped dessert; I had my eye on the Weeel! froyo truck parked outside. One more nit - the metal chairs are not comfortable at all for sitting a long time in.
