Shanghai Delight serves up hundreds of Chinese takeaways every day and is always mobbed yet the food is always very good. I am not saying it is sit down city centre quality, but very few takeaways are. It is though very good at what it does do. Personal favourites are salt and chilli chips, salt and chilli chicken, chopped ribs in black bean sauce, beef Kung po, beef curry and chicken satay. None of these of course are advised as part of any healthy diet plan that I can imagine and are probably far from authentic. But they do taste very good. If you are up this way and fancy a Chinese feast then you should give this place a try.

Owned by a husband and wife who have lived here for year originally born in Hong Kong, the husband the head in the kitchen you sometimes hear chatting in Cantonese to the rest of his crew he never crosses over. Occasionally the wife is on the desk she very friendly speaks English but only to the punters. A couple times a year they will close for a couple of weeks where there take a holiday a go back to HK to visit family. Ok so the best dishes are Salt and chili chips, Kung Po beef, salt and chili chicken. A wee beef curry never hurts anyone! To be honest of i was ordering Chinese and Shanghai was closed I'd just go without. All or nothing!

Chilies is my go to place for a home delivery kebabs in Cambuslang. Generally I get a chicken tikka kebab or a lamb shashlik kebab, (sometimes both) and always with a cheese naan. It comes with salad, sauce and a portion of rice. It's bloody epic. Importantly the naan has hunners of cheese. This place is just a standard local takeaway joint. It's no frills and if you walked past it you would probably keep walking, but the food is nice. It's well priced and comes pretty fast. If for some crazy reason your lost in Cambuslang and hungry.... Give this place a try.

There's a chippie in the same row so you don't need to buy your juice etc from there, Tesco would be cheaper. It's open from 7am to 10pm 7 days. I like to collect Tesco points so it's great that I can get these here as well. The staff are friendly and helpful, parking spaces are plentiful and although it is a smaller shop, there is still a great selection of essentials to be had. Worth a visit if you are local.

I dragged Stu out of his festering pit and we made our way to Grant's the Bakers. I had passed it several times while sprinting for the train and the smell emanating from the bakery almost caused me to forget all about the train and go and live in there. Hot rolls and hot drinks are available to take away at very reasonable prices. At 10.30 on a Sunday, the queue was out the door and spilling untidily onto the street. Builders, locals and hungover tramps waited patiently in front of the cake filled counter and sizzling hotplate of over-processed meats. The smell was fantastic. Thanks to the two wee wummin behind the counter the queue moved quickly. We bought 6 totty scones and hastened home to fry them! They were big, misshapen and had an almost meaty bite to them. This makes them high up there in my Totty Scone Hall of Fame. Yes, I do actually have a Totty Scone Hall of Fame. I am rather a freak, I do fear. Next time I think I'll go for an iced donut.

It sells sugar at a good price and I use a lot of this for making tablet, so it comes in handy. The store has been there for around 20 years I would say, and it is needing refurbished. However, it is clean and the staff are really friendly and helpful which is good. The only downside is the parking facilities which are at the other side of the row of shops. It's not a problem for me personally, but would be for someone with young children or a disabled person struggling to get to their car with their shopping.

Saturdays are really busy so was glad I decided last minute to book a table. The menu is filled with sandwiches, bagels, paninis etc and all come with soup for £5.95 which is a bargain when you see the portions. However the most popular order seemed to be the high tea for two, which at £5 per person is amazing! The atmosphere is lovely, with a mix of couple, familes and quite a few grannies being treated to tea and cakes by their grandkids. The decor is nothing fancy, but the setting and welcoming staff easily makes up for it There is fabulous selection of Suki teas and homemade baking. Soups of the day this week were tomato with basil and potato and leek. Last wee I tried the curried butternut squash which was amazing! The setting is lovely and the food is well worth the 15min drive from Dennistoun. There is a garden centre and lovely views onto the loch so you could easily spend a few hours over a coffee, chatting and escaping city life.
