However, while I was walking around Al's shop talking on the phone with Gene, I saw that he had a book casually sitting on one of his for-sale tables in front of the store titled 'Jews are the Problem,' which has a pretty self-explanatory premise. It would be a massive understatement to say I was disappointed to see this out in the open at Al's store, particularly in an area with the history that the Catskills has. I would urge potential patrons to bring their business elsewhere and not support this disgusting antisemite.

Big Daddy hits a sweet spot among fireworks stores. I've been to many fireworks stores, including…read moreothers in the area, across the state, and in several other states. I think Bigg Daddy has the best shopping experience for my purposes, and I'd imagine many other people's purposes, of any of them. They're big enough to have not just something for everyone but an above average selection in most product categories. The people there are great: they greet you when you enter and offer help, and are willing to give you a full tour of everything they have, to spare you the tour and help you quickly find exactly what you want, even if you don't know what that is, or to leave you alone and let you browse. They have tv screens around the store linked to scanners. You can scan the barcodes on many of the products (including the vast majority of the multishot boxes) to see video of those fireworks in action. It's great! So much better than shopping blind and hoping that an expensive show in a box is decent. I didn't do any direct price comparisons with other shops, but their prices seemed pretty reasonable compared to my expectations from the times I've bought fireworks in the past. Whenever I next get fireworks in the area, this will be my first choice of places to get them.
