The sea bass was cooked perfectly in a lemon based sauce. The top was crispy and the center was juicy and absolutely delicious. My seafood soup was outstanding. The conger eel was tasty and the soup was filled with small scallops and shrimp. It also came with large size mussels and clams. The broth was flavorful and wonderful. Our creamed spinach was also delicious. Service was attentive and polite. If you are near this place and want a fantastic seafood meal, this is the place to go.

Nestled in the Vitacura neighborhood of Santiago, the restaurant isn't too far from Providencia (10 min car ride, 25 min by bus) - Osaka is a Nikkei fusion restaurant that has a few other branches, mostly in South America. Service here is friendly but can be a tad slow when busy. So keep this in mind if you're super hungry. I used a mix of Spanish and English here - the preferred language here is Spanish (being in Chile after all!) but most waitstaff knows some English - so language barrier shouldn't be much of a problem. I ordered... 1) BEBIDA - Passion liptus pisco sour - a lovely take on the traditional pisco sour, with tropical fruit forward notes (yay for maracuya) 2) COOKED - passion shrimp - tasty and perfectly fried, with a good balance of sweet, salty and sour. Better than sweet and sour as this has a nice tropical twist 3) RAW/SEARED: I had the hotate truffle nigiri, rocoto usuzukuri tiradito, and the crispy rice appetizer. Both the hotate truffle and crispy rice appetizer had truffle notes, which were very nice as it complimented the seafood in both. Hotate is scallop, and the crispy rice features salmon. I really enjoy tiraditos, and try to get them when I can in South America. The rocoto sauce in the tiradito was absolutely delicious. Creamy, a little smoky, and a little piquant - a perfect compliment with the catch of the day (a type of white fish). The bill came out to around 80$ for myself- but I ordered a lot for one person. Restaurant is a little bit on the expensive side for Japanese-style food in Santiago; but it's well worth every penny! Recommend!

My husband and I do not speak Spanish and we had no trouble ordering and asking for recommendations. Everyone was super helpful and attentive. If visiting Santiago, ensure you make at least one trip to Ox. I made my reservation on line via email. It's in a nice residential area and a quick uber ride to the city. Consider doing a 1pm lunch and then going to the cathedral square for the free walking tour at 3:30. You'll want to walk off your meal!

Alas, we decided to go to Ox at the last minute on a Saturday night, and all the al fresco tables were already booked, but there were plenty of tables inside. We ordered a round of pisco sours to start - delicious and refreshing. A plate of warm bread soon followed. For starters, I ordered the blue cheese salad, which turned out to be enormous, but I found it to be long on iceberg lettuce and short on toppings. Definitely enough for two people to share - wish I'd known that. For dinner I got the bone-in ribeye steak. It was one of the most beautiful steaks I've ever seen - check out the picture. It was served with a couple different kinds of salt, which I'd recommend skipping, because the steak had plenty of flavor to stand on its own. Although the steak was done just right, unfortunately about a third of it was gristle and fat. I don't mind some fat on a ribeye, but in this case it was excessive. The restaurant has a nice wine list. We ordered a bottle of Chilean red, which was beautifully presented and a great complement to the steaks. As a joke, our waitstaff brought over an oversize bottle of wine to place on our table and offered to take our pictures. I guess it was pretty obvious we were tourists. As another whimsical touch, a dish of complimentary cotton candy was delivered to our table at the end of the meal. Overall, a good experience, although a bit pricey for what we got.

If you like good music, you'll love it here. I've tried dancing with my friends at high-end bars in Santiago, but the atmosphere here is actually much better and they do a very good job with 1) ventilation--fans will keep you cool so you can keep dancing, and 2) attentive staff--if you need anything, they are there whether it's more drinks or to clean up a spill. My girlfriends refer to this as a salsa bar where the locals, particularly the Colombianas, hang out. It has a low-key, non-pretentious, local vibe for sure. I was surprised to see a lot of people in jeans. Highly recommend, whether you're with your partner or a girls' night out!
