For intake (APC) it takes for-ever, mine was 27 hours. In jail there's no mental health care to speak of, though about 25% of people need it. If you tell them you are under menatal health care when you are processes, they withhold it for a week to make you talk. When it's your time to be releases, they hold you for an extra day...or two...or 7...cause they do not care and their records are messed up. read more

I have been to jail here a few times in my adult life.. The guards are awful to deal with. The only voice they have is screaming and yelling at inmates. And when you are supposed to go to court it always is being rescheduled for another day and it gets delayed for days it seems. When you get bailed out or released on own recognizance, it takes them forever and a day to get you out of there and discharged. My bail was paid at 11 pm and I didn't get released until 4 pm the next day!! And the thing is they don't give a rats behind about it. Horrible place and horrible food. read more

The evening started out amazing. I went out with some friends for a few drinks at the local watering hole, and after awhile, I started to get quite an appetite and decided to take to the streets for something new and different. After ten to fifteen minutes of struggling with the terribly difficult to open doors at the bar, I was approached by two well-dressed gentlemen asking me to step away from, what they claimed, was a wall. I stepped away from the wall and was asked to follow the gentlemen outside. I obliged, with the hopes they knew the perfect hidden gem for some late-night grub. So, I began to walk away from the wall/door...excited where the night would take me. The kind gentlemen informed me that I apparently had had too good of a time tonight and proceeded to put me in handcuffs. Now, I must admit that I am normally not into that, but hey, I had had a few drinks. When I informed the gentlemen of my uncontrollable hunger pangs, they surprised me with a suggestion I had never heard before. The Marion County Jail. Like any good foodie, I was naturally excited at the prospect of finding a new and exciting chow spot. I was given a ride, via police escort nonetheless, by the two gentlemen to an exclusive, private garage entrance located at the side of the restaurant. I had never had this 5-star treatment before, and thought to myself that if this kind of treatment was any indication of the food, well, I was in for a treat tonight. Upon arrival inside the restaurant, I took a close examination of the ambience. The style was not my flavor, to be honest. The restaurant had a stale, Eastern European "institutional" feel that was very chic in the 90's, but didn't match the culture of the surrounding neighborhood. The dress code was nothing to talk about, either. I was shocked to learn that my khaki pants and polo shirt were not good enough for the establishment, and was even more amazed at the full-length orange "sports coat" that they were apparently trying pass off as "classy." After the change of dress, I was, honestly, feeling like maybe this restaurant wasn't for me and that I should go home and try my luck tomorrow. "Maybe they were just having an off night," I thought. But just as soon as I was turning for the door, I was immediately overtaken by their amazing hospitality again when they started taking photographs of me... Paparazzi treatment? I'll take it! I'm staying! Bad choice, this is where the experience really began to decline. After the photo session, the staff began asking me really personal questions that I felt were inappropriate to ask a casual guest. The questions started off nice and simple, and I thought this was just another part of the "5-star experience," but after asking about my food allergies they asked if I had ever been tested for sexually transmitted diseases. That, in my opinion, was none of the host's business... After the odd, and mostly awkward, gathering of all my personal details I was escorted into the dining hall. I was shocked at how disgusting the place truly was. For instance, there was a toilet in the middle of the restaurant! No walled-off restroom area, no separate room, just a toilet in the middle of the hall. Now, maybe this is an odd artistic movement, and please correct me if it is, but it felt off-putting to me. Surprisingly, none of the other patrons seemed to mind or notice, so maybe I am wrong about not loving the decor. Now, to the coup-de-grace, the proverbial "money shot": The food. Let me just say it was TERRIBLE! No menus. No tables. Just a simple plastic tray loaded with a poorly-prepared (in fact, I would say sloppy) peanut butter and jelly sandwich, a banana, and a box of milk. It was ridiculously clear that the chef had not put his heart into the meal. The ingredients were stale and the options were limited. In fact, I didn't even get a chance to request no crust, which, in my opinion, is a must-have option for the traditional pb&j. After my meal, I waited anxiously for the bill to arrive. After all, a restaurant with no menu also means no prices, and no prices listed on the menu is never a cheap thing. But the bill never came. In fact, none of the wait staff showed back up to the dining hall for another SIX HOURS. I tried the door multiple times to no avail, and eventually quit my apparently futile efforts after much disdain was heard coming in my direction from the other patrons of the restaurant. Eventually, I was let out of the hall, given a breathalyzer (weird), and sent back out on to the streets. So, would I recommend this place to my friends? Sadly, as much as it pains me to give a bad review, I can't recommend the Marion County Jail to others wanting a quality dining experience. read more

Takes way to long to inprocess ... Almoat 72 hours ... There are no clocks or windows... Can not tell what is going on unless it is time to eat and can not make a phone call during the inprocessing unless you already know what to do ... It juat takes way to lobg to do anything read more

I don't know what people are complaining about. This place is amazing !!! All the food is free! The room is free! They even give you fresh clothes to wear when you arrive. You can book a stay for as long as you want and it's all free. Occasionally you might have to share your room with another person but only if you have a two bed room. Again this place is amazing, it even says in building that's it's in top 1% of all places to stay!! And it's all free!! How do they stay in business? read more

Overall I had a good experience!!! I'm giving these mfs a few stars for feeding us those nasty ass sandwiches, where is soggy ass cookies, and apple juice. It was fun while it lasted it but I'll never be back in that nasty mf again!!! read more

this place is god awful,rude,disrespective! I was not in there but my husband was and they treated my like I was trash,trying to get a live person to talk to an help you is almost impossible,heads up choose the suicide option YES a live person! The car got impounded an you have 30 days(at a heft fine daily)made 6 trips(I live 2 hours away} before I got the car only to have to have it towed home,the detective{she} Juile D. said we could have the car but not the keys WTF,an then the smarta** said you really are not going to help him out.Im a RN,we have 4 kids 1 on the way and neither one of us have EVER been in trouble,AND I did nothing wrong an got treated like a criminal Im pretty sure they send you on a wild goose chase so they can make more money from you ever trip I made to get papers for car the rules changed on what I had to do,so you come back doing and follow there I nstructions you got from time before and wouldn't you know you get diff person waiting on you next time an guess what yep F**KED aging sorry mam they moved him you can no longer gets this today you can only get it on sat in this block hey no problem cars now up to 1,000 to get out and I work every sat guess I could call off but I work 12 shifts and at 33.00 an hour that's anouther big lose read more

I fully understand that the sheriff and his deputies/ civilian employees hold all the cards at the jail and they must run it tight and securely first and foremost. But I had an acquaintance of mine arrested and booked in the jail at 7 p.m. on a Monday night. It was for a dwi in which another driver was very slightly injured so while not at all acceptable it's not that uncommon. I agree the person should be incarcerated until they are fully sober and their bond is posted. So I drive downtown and post his bond at 8:45a.m.- after waiting 15-20 mins- the cash was processed and then I was told it would be anywhere from 4-10 hrs. before his paperwork would be processed.?? I thought that there must be a long list of people getting out for it to take so long. So I kill 4 hours and call back - the polite woman(which all the deputies and civilians were very polite and professional!) said he should be getting out anytime now. So I wait along the back side of the jail where they said prisoners are released- 2 hours go by and absolutely no one comes out the release door? Finally at over 6 hrs his paperwork is processed and he's released. After checking around I heard stories of 18 and 22 hrs. after bond is posted before an arrestee is processed out. Now to my point- all we hear is that city and county budgets are stretched way too thin and costs to operate the municipality are continuously rising putting great strains on the facilities and employees. Well just think of the thousands(if not a Million(s)) of dollars spent on security, meals, and healthcare on arrestees that have been bonded out but take up to 22 hrs to get released! Common sense and decency should prompt the jail commander and the Sheriff to take a hard look at this unreasonable time delay which by the way not only punishes the prisoners(I get that) but also the families who spend hours if not almost a full day waiting and waiting! Obviously the processing out procedure is either drastically understaffed or it's a completely mean-spirited additional punishment where some callous jailers or processing clerks get their jollies by moving at a snail's pace with no worry of reprimand from their bosses! It would almost seem that some civil rights are being violated here! C'mon its the 21st century! read more

Well first off I opted for the all inclusive extended stay package here at Marion counties finest. The host at the front desk was very rude but I did appreciate the midnight snack of 2 bologna sandwiches and 2 cookies I was given since it was late. It seemed there were a lot of shady characters hanging around the lobby but I just assumed they were locals enjoying the free snacks and tv. Unfortunately my room was not ready upon arrival so I had to wait in the lobby for a few hours before a nice man in a robe validated my all inclusive stay and I was shown to my new digs! The other guests here seemed to be angry for some reason but i figured it was because the rooms didn't have balconies like I hoped either but no reason to get upset. One nice local gave me the best advice I have ever received which was "you better watch your ass" and it would come in handy many times over my stay. I was very excited for the continental breakfast. It arrived at around 5 am which I thought was a little but hey maybe they run on east coast time or maybe they had an eventful day of activities planned for us. The breakfast was not very good it tasted a lot like cardboard mixed with ass sweat. The beds were very thin and my room was cold and there was no thermostat to adjust. When I mentioned that I would like to order room service and have a pillow fresh towels brought to my room the bellhop told me in very vulgar terms that I should go fornicate with myself. To make it short this place is dirty has terrible service and worse food and the employees and guests are very rude and not nice people. I don't know how they stay in business read more
