This IGA - aside from being amazing in all the ways I described in my original review - seems to be setting the standard for how to properly operate under the current conditions so I wanted to share in the hopes of other grocery stores following their lead. When you arrive here, all the doors are closed except for one and when you enter that one there's a portable handwashing station like you'd see outside portopotties at a festival. So everyone is washing their hands as they enter. Then they are given a cart which has just been wiped down by the staff. Staff are also circulating wiping down the handles of fridge doors etc. Cashiers are using sanitizer between every customer and as you leave your cart is immediately wiped down again. This loving attention will save lives in our community and I really really appreciate it.

The produce was good quality and well stocked, as were most of the other areas. I haven't been to any other grocery stores in the area to see how their prices compare, but in general, prices seemed reasonable. This could easily be a one-stop grocery shop for folks living in the area, and if you are staying at one of the nearby hotels, as was the case for me, it's a great place to pick up a few supplies.

It's larger than what's in New Edinburgh and seems pretty fresh. WAY nicer than what was here at the previous Metro. After the produce section, there's a hot bar on the left I believe. I saw pizza and flatbreads there and a few other goodies. There's a nice prepared and packaged foods in the area as well. Lots of options. Once you get past that, there's a bakery with lots of breads and baked goods. I mean take a look at all those cakes! Unfortunately I've never tried any of these so I really can't comment on the quality. The butcher has some decent quality meats and a decent selection here as well. That's followed up with a seafood section. I don't think there's any fresh seafood but there's a nice selection here. As you walk throughout the store, there's rows of pantry items, snacks, drinks and did I mention snacks?! This Metro feels like it has a nicer selection than the old one. I think it'll have a lot of the things that you need. The staff have been friendly and helpful the few times I've been already. I hope this keeps up. I haven't. The prices are a bit higher than some of the budget grocery spots but I think a bit cheaper than Loblaws. Also if you're on the Loblaws boycott, this is the spot for you. I have been appalled at how rude and selfish the customers are, so when I am super polite to the staff and thank them, and they say nothing, I can imagine this is because of all the other bad behaviour they put up with. This place is pretty bad, disorganized, unclean, but I will say the prices are accurate. Roblaws constantly overcharges, but the prices are correct here. The Herongate location is more polite, cleaner and better organized.

I was really impressed with how stocked the produce section was. It looked like everything was just freshly stocked for the weekend rush. Another thing that caught my eye was the floral section. Rows and rows of beautiful, fresh flowers that were beautifully presented. One thing to keep in mind when going so late is that the aisles can get pretty packed with overnight crew and merchandise on pallets, so it is hard to navigate through some of the aisles. Another thing is that they had their speaker system so loud, and I understand they were using their speaker system as a way of communication with other overnight staff, but every couple of minutes you had workers yelling into the system. Total headache. Although this is not my closest Loblaws, its pretty convenient and legit. I will be definitely heading back if I need to do late night shopping after work.

They have an excellent produce selection, seafood, cold cuts, and cool sauces and house brand Farm Boy brand + and excellent bakery! I've noticed they have boned up on prepared foods and have one of the biggest selection I have seen on K-cups for Keurig! It's really a shame we couldn't have FB in Montreal as it excels at providing a different yet fresh and cool selection of different products! The manager needs to use a special machine and apparently their Wi-Fi is spotty so the machine wasn't working properly and it took so long to finish the transaction. At least they apologized, but I've told my son not to buy me gift cards at Adonis again.
