Although it is not a particulary big museum it was well done and informative with some great exhibits. I loved the Tom Maley exhibit and learning more about this artist as well as the Jaws exhibit. The museum itself was set in a beautiful setting high up on a hill. It was worth the visit for sure.

I was truly in awe by the items we saw on the display. It was educational and I feel I learned a lot. The museum is two floors worth of exhibits and a rooftop deck where you can look out onto the surrounding island. The museum also offered lectures, discussions, and documentaries you could engage with throughout the day. When we arrived they had a schedule displayed for the days events. I felt this was worth the cost of admission and was a must see stop on our trip to Nantucket.

They have a new exhibit with artistic renditions of verses from "America the Beautiful" and presidential memorabilia (an address from Calvin Coolidge when he was governor of Massachusetts, a creepy disembodied Andrew Jackson head) Notably, they have THREE gardens- colonial era, memorial, and apothecary's (since they have the historic Dr. Wicks house) Good for gardening ideas. She told me that this was her first summer working there and that she was previously working with a researcher off island. She was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about her job and we learned a lot about the island and some of the history behing shipwrecks. It's a short distance from a brewery, Dunkin', and Cape Cod Coffee. It is fairly easy to find, housed in a small historic home. Admission is $8, plus there is a small gift shop. Members of the tribe give tours, there is a replica of a native house, one learns about the life of the Wampanoag, the "Indians of Thanksgiving." A recent exhibit was about the lives of Wampanoag whalers, and the importance of the whale to native life. There is ample parking beside a traditional herring run that is still in use. Fascinating, insightful museum, well worth a visit.

There is a huge range of art with a wide variety of prices. Via the staff and wandering around I discovered Tamalin Baumgarten and Heidi Lang Parrinello - Both HUGELY talented artists with very accessible work. I'd bought a few nice pieces of wampum jewelry for my wife and one of Heidis smaller pieces ( which was sold, but she did another one - for a SUPER reasonable price, I might add...)but decided to Purchase a larger piece by The same artist for Christmas- the shipping cost was high, but it is fair and there was no sales tax! they called me to see if I wanted it expedited - super thoughtful, as usual. You cannot go wrong with the Granary.....
