We come in on a Saturday, 2-ish in the afternoon, thinking we have evaded the lunch rush hour. Wrong. Place is packed! What does that tell you about the food? shrimp tacos. Check. carne asada tacos. Check. coctel de camaron. Pretty addicting. Mocajelte. Hub's one and only love (other than his wifey if course). It's like a cold seafood stew, and it tastes much better than how I described it. Chevela-I have mine made 50/50. Half shrimp juice, half Clamato, then you pour in your beer of choice (in my case, a Bud). It is served in a huge glass, an order of this baby is enough. Service and staff--fast and frequent checking on if you need anything else, a refill on your iced tea, etc. Love! read more

Good food and the service was okay. Not sure if I like going to get Mexican food and having to pay $5 for chips and salsa. Call it a entitlement attitude, but if all your competitors are providing something at no additional charge ... might be something to think about. The prices are a little steep for mariscos where I'm from, but they are from San Diego. The food was great! Wow, how did I wait this long to try this place! I heard lots of good things both online and from friends but I usually have to be in the right mood for seafood so I was hesitant to give it a try. Well, lately I've been eating more seafood and finally decided to give them a try. The service is great, every time we've been there we were helped almost immediately even when they're busy. The servers are friendly and responsive - you get treated like family even on your first visit. The food is outstanding. Very fresh and very tasty - and a good value. The tacos are wonderful, the toritos are to die for, the ceviche is delicious - and I can't wait to try more of the options on the menu! Notes: The gobernador tacos for those who are wondering are kind of like a small quesadilla. Filled with cheese and cooked on a gridle. The fish and shrimp tacos are also available with grilled fish/shrimp if you want to avoid the standard deep fried option - they're great either way! Worst dining experience of my life. Went to use a hot sauce, that had the lid broken off and without noticing it was broken off shook it as recommended by the bottle. Not only is a bottle without a lid unsanitary but, but it also got in my eye and ruined my clothes and pants. I canceled the rest of my order, cause after being doused in hot sauce who wants to stay at a restaurant, the waitress told me I still had to pay for the order. The soup I ordered wasn't that great either, the vegetables were extremely undercooked and flavor was bland, which is why I went for the hot sauce to begin with. If you don't like this place, then you have no taste buds. I tried a little bit of everything and it was all delicious! I especially loved the shrimp tostada and fish taco. The gobernador and torito were new to me. They were fun to try and I will order them again for sure. They have every hot sauce you could want on the table and you can wash down your spicy food with a michelada or horchata. One of the best dishes was the molcajete, full of the freshest fish. One of my favorite places in Yuma. I usually keep it simple and order the Shrimp tacos, Gobernador, and can't forget to add a Torito. . I never had (or heard) of those until I moved here. Very delicious and the prices are good too. I also like their ceviche and their shrimp cocktails. My only complaint is that avocado doesn't come with your cocktail. You have to pay separately for a half of avocado that's over priced. Lunch time there is usually a wait. Used to go more frequently with coworkers but we had to walk out twice before because our lunch hour was over and food wasn't ready yet. We've never had waiting time issues around dinner. read more

Had the toritos to start; it's a breaded and deep fried pepper stuffed with cheese and shrimp. I thought it was ok, but I thought it was the worst part of the meal. Next was the shrimp gobernador. It was really good, like a quasadila filled with shrimp and cheese. Finished it off with two grilled fish tacos and one shrimp taco. For the money I thought they were good taco. I'll be back. After my second meal here I had to bring the rating down from a 5 stars to 3. The reason being the small sad looking piece of fish in the taco that lacked the flavor it should've had. Maybe I was just hungry the first time and that overlooked the tacos the first time, but this wasn't about to be a fool me twice sort of deal. Its still a good place, I'd recommend the shrimp gobernador over everything else I've had. read more

A confession up front - I was taking a telecon on my phone through lunch (while my husband handled ordering), and then the telecon ran long, so I didn't really get to fully enjoy my lunch. My fish tacos were good, but not outstanding. The guacamole was fresh and very tasty. The sangria's a little sweet for my taste. I would have preferred whole beans to refried beans because the refritos are a little heavy with fish. read more

This place is a true hidden gem. I saw pictures and read reviews and everything looked good, so I decided to try it out. The location is bad, so I got apprehensive as I pulled up. Once I got to the food, I was blown away. The menu is huge, diverse, and truly has something for everyone. I went to dinner with five people, and literally every single thing anyone ordered was absolutely incredible. I will have to come back multiple times to try more things. I do have some complaints though, the place is small, and noisy. They play music loud as hell, presumably to drown out all the talking, but I think it only makes people talk louder to try to talk over the music. I wouldn't call it a Mexican restaurant (like it says on the sign) because almost every dish is seafood... and they have tacos but they're not that good. What I hated the most about this place: really weird island/beach theme. It was way overdone and looked like the home decor aisle of target threw up in there. Then they try to be fancy with white chairs & tables, fancy decorations, classy waitresses, and overpriced food... but then there's a tv in the dining room, plastic covered menus, and each table has like 12 bottles of hot sauce and a bunch of gross crackers on it. This place needs to decide who they are and stick to it. The food was not great, but not terrible. I wanted a soup but they were charging close to $20 for most soups. The waitress was super nice. The restaurant was in a shady place. Yuma seems to have a lot of fast food places, so maybe that's why this place has okay ratings, but I'm from Providence, RI and this place wouldn't last one day. read more

I have been to this place a few times and I always thought it was pretty over the top that they charged $5.00 for a whole avocado and charged for tostadas when at other places they come with the order. However, I continued going because I liked the food. A couple of weeks ago I was in Yuma and we stopped by for dinner. I ordered a fish taco among other things and was brought a fish taco and I ate the fish taco. When we got the bill, I saw that they had charged for a shrimp taco and I told the waiter about the mistake. He came back and he told me that he had written down a shrimp taco. When I told him that I can tell the difference between one and the other as I was the one who ate it, he went to get the manager. When the manager came he told me that they had no way of knowing that the taco I ate was a fish taco; basically calling me a liar and refusing to make any changes to the bill. I was very disappointed in their attitude and in their unwillingness to accept their mistake, but what was flabbergasting was that they basically called me a liar, like I would do that for a couple of bucks. I will never return to this place as it is clear that they do not own up to their mistakes and they are willing to lose a client over a few dollars. read more

This place has quickly become our go to!! The portions are enormous and the service is outstanding!!! The shrimp ceviche is the bomb and the Toritos are equally as good. Top all of this off with the various margaritas (tamarindo margaritas are my favorite) and you have one of the best meals in town. It's a little tucked away but easy to get to and well worth it. Hats off to the staff as we have NEVER had a bad experience with them. They are outstanding and I highly recommend this place to anyone.
