I told her I already did and she continued to talk over me. She kept insisting for me to talk to my doctor here, and I said how, how how? (Because she just kept going and going) I don't usually like to talk about peoples tone, because I know that my tone can be very monotonous, being autistic, but she was raising her voice, and it sounded like she was angry with me. And I told her "it sounds like you're angry with me" I just need help because the doctor here, she doesn't come. Also, when I did talk to her it is kind of going like this conversation with you is going, she's not listening to me. She sighed and said she is listening to me and then suddenly mysteriously we got disconnected. I called back of course and again she was frustrated. Said that I need to talk to my doctors here and that That's what the doctors here at the hospital are for ( that seems obvious to me so, is she being sarcastic, mean? I don't know) she said if they have questions they will call my Cardiologist. Again I told her, Yes of course that's what I did but it's not working. I need your help. I don't know what else to do. His staff told me to come in at different times than the doctor and his staff wouldn't tell me via phone or email which time to arrive. His staff listed me for open heart surgery on their website twice when dr said I was only coming in for a procedure and the staff wouldn't answer if I was having surgery or a procedure or both. Staff called 14 times to prepay for procedure two weeks out but no one would tell me how much I would owe at time of procedure. Durham is Awesome but his staff (SA Atrium) is a total Fail. Reviews say his Comfort staff is awesome, might be worth the hour 15 minute drive to get a great doctor and staff. Avoid SA Atrium staff!

I initially came in seeking estrogen pellet therapy because my current estrogen treatment is not adequately controlling my symptoms. I waited over an hour at my first visit (as a new patient) and over 30 minutes at my second. I paid $158 for the first visit and $118 for the second (my insurance my problem), which I was told would be a consultation for pellet placement. After discussing my history at length, I was ultimately told that because I am still menstruating, their BioTE program would only allow a testosterone pellet--not the estrogen therapy I came in seeking. My provider even consulted her supervising physician seeking an exception and I was still denied. This practice relies solely on a computer program for dosing and not symptom dosing which is what the most recent evidence based research states to do. I completely understand that a practice can have its own treatment protocols. My issue is that this limitation was not communicated to me before I paid for a second appointment. I would not have incurred the additional expense had I known the treatment I was seeking was not an option. Overall, I left feeling that my time and money were not respected. This clinic is for menopausal women or women who have had a hysterectomy. Biote (the computer program) does not treat perimenopausal women who are menstrating with estrogen deprivation symptoms and neither does Marcos Medical group.
