I originally encountered these guys when looking for a shop that could fix the convertible top on…read moremy BMW Z4. They told me what would be involved and that they would not be able to work on it without it costing a fortune. A less than honest shop might've tried to soak me for a repair job that ends up costing more than expected. I know, because others have tried that. These guys gave me an honest appraisal, and I remembered that when choosing a shop to work on my wife's car. We had just bought a 2006 BMW 330 ci, and like clockwork, just after the 30-day warranty expired, we had problems. It had just rained torrentially for three straight days and unbeknownst to us, the drainage ports in the trunk were completely clogged, allowing water to build up and penetrate to the electrical system. We noticed the dash lights, indicators, and steering wheel controls did not work. We brought it to Toole's with the hope that it was something easily diagnosed and fixed. It wasn't. To keep an already long story from getting much longer, I will just say that it was a 4-day-long diagnosis as the problem component(s) were not easily found, even with advanced diagnostic equipment. They sought out expert advice from other professionals who specialize in BMWs. The problem component was found and replaced. I originally agreed to three hours of labor, but since it went as long as it did, I happily agreed to an extra hour. So essentially, they stuck to the agreement plus a reasonable additional amount. I tried to add on a tip but they wouldn't accept it. We bought them pizzas instead. I recommend this shop because they're honest, friendly professionals who seem to really want to help out their customers while running a respectable business.

I *really* wanted to like these guys. Really. They were highly recommended by a long time customer…read moreof theirs when I needed a reliable shop after my mainstay shop closed. The first time they did what they were supposed to but also added all sorts of nonessential, foolish, 'let's see if the old lady falls for this' service recommendations. It immediately reminded me of back in the day when car salesmen pushed undercoating. Also not necessary. I politely declined the extra +/- $1,000 (!) services. I tried again about two weeks ago when I went in for a problem with the driver's side window. Give them a second chance. The young man told me, to my face, that it would cost $260 **just to look at the problem**. In deference to his youth I did not say what I was really thinking, asked him to repeat the quote, said thank you and left. Here's the thing - women are actually not stupid and this kind of thing happens to us all the time. It is infuriating and highly insulting. Ask any woman you know to tell you her version of these experiences. Finally, the core issue is being disrespected. No one wants that. Oh, the end of the story is that I went to another shop nearby and the guys looked at the problem immediately, fixed a minor adjustment and did not charge me. BTW, they had three or four bays: BMW, Lexus, Mercedes so clearly they were trusted. Just saying. Bye.

Again I was helped by Sean and again it was a 5 star visit. The work was done in a timely manner, price was fair and customer service was excellent. We have three different Japanese vehicle brands in our family and I feel comfortable to have them all serviced at A+ Japanese Auto Repair! Thanks again Sean, I really appreciate the personal touch.

Came in to have Check Engine Light issue fixed so I could register the car…read more They did their diagnosis, got the error code identified, they replaced parts, I paid $1600 and picked up the car...only to have the check engine light come back on as soon as I started the engine. I was a little frustrated because they told me the problem was fixed. I immediately brought the back, had it re-diagnosed, and was later told there is another issue which would cost $700 (after a bit of a discount), and there could be more after that. It's an older car, but with relatively low mileage for its age (20 year old Lexus sedan with 105k miles). At least this time I was told there are potentially other underlying issues, which could be cost prohibitive. After this second round of repairs, I was told they'd have to partially take apart the engine because "it could be..." I didn't want to continue this process if they weren't even sure what the problem is and I would have to pay them more so they could "maybe find" what is causing the check engine light. They seemed to be more diligent this second time, and took a little more care to see if the check engine light issue was fully resolved. Good on them for their second effort. I wish they could have done a more thorough check the first time instead of it seeming so exploratory. Maybe that's how the problem had to be discovered, but it felt like it was more process of elimination than a targeted solution. I can disconnect and reconnect my battery and get the same results of the check engine light off for a few days. I took the car back now $2400 lighter in the pocket, unclear if the two parts they replaced may have still been functioning, and with my check engine light still on. I feel it was a misdiagnosis of the problem initially. If they properly diagnosed the problem, my decision making would have been different. Instead, I feel as if I got strung along for two payments if I wanted to have my car back that I still can't register.

Do you know how few motorcycle mechanics we have on the peninsula? You can count 'em on one hand…read more Lucky for us riders, one of them is a bona fide wizard and a really cool guy to boot. His name is Sean, and you should put him in your phone contacts right now. He will make your bike run like new, whether it just needs oil and filter changed, new tires mounted, or a full-on valve adjustment, Sean rocks. Did I mention his totally reasonable prices? That's the cherry on top. See for yourself.

I call Sean: he fixes it the very next day. Boom, done--rides perfect. The great thing about the UnDealership is Sean's determination to get you back on the road. He told me about all of these avenues he was thinking about taking to get my bike up and running, and the various places in the area he was ready to go to in order to get the necessary parts. I mean, a mechanic going to OTHER shops to get stuff for YOUR machine? Does that even happen anymore? Nowadays, garages wait weeks for some stupid little part to be shipped in from China. Meanwhile, Sean just gets the work done, and gets you back out there, smiling on your ride. Come here for the great service, experience, and killer value. Keep coming back to support this awesome company, and better human being.
