I had previously been a patient at Esthetic Family Dentistry. I was told that I had FOUR cavities at that appointment. I had never had a cavity in my life, so FOUR seemed a little suspicious. I had to get a second opinion... I called and scheduled an appointment. Soon after, I received a packet in the mail which I was to complete and mail back. I personally would have preferred an online form to cut down on paper waste. The day before my appointment, I received a warm reminder call, which I appreciated. I am a **high anxiety** patient, and Amanda made me feel comfortable. She spoke to me about Colorado, family, pets, etc. I know next to nothing about dentistry, but Amanda did not report my gum score out loud. I really appreciated that as knowing my gum score only increases my anxiety at a dental appointment. Amanda was fantastic. Gentle. Kind. I absolutely recommend her. Dr. Oversen was professional and warm. My previous dentists have seemed professional but cold and in a rush to see their next patients. Dr. Oversen took his time with me. Very calming tone. Also very handsome, so that's a bonus. And it turns out I have one cavity, not four... I am feeling calm and eased of my anxieties in regards to my upcoming appointment with Dr. Oversen at Mountain Vista Dental.

Quality care from experienced staff and as far as your bill goes, the insurance/benefits staff working your bill will insure that your insurance pays the correct amount for you. My insurance was trying to make me pay for work that should have been covered and the office fought for me, insurance had to pay what they were supposed to pay. I love the staff and Dr. Hammack has a good amount of experience. I highly recommend Hammack Dentistry.

I'm an endodontist in Co Springs and I noticed most of the negative reviews here come not from bad service, but from people's insurance companies treating them unfairly and not paying what they said they would. Insurance is in the business of making money, not helping you. When seen through this lens, all their practices make sense: not paying in a timely manner so they can make interest on their money longer, paying less than they said they would to make more money, no paying for more expensive treatments such as root canals to help you save your teeth, but gladly paying for extractions because they are cheaper, etc. And finally making it seam like the dentist office is to blame for this change in billing so the insurance brand isn't damaged, the dentist's is. Dental insurance is largely a racket, but Hammack family dentistry is the real deal. Caring , advanced technology, and an excellent dentistry. Kurt is a dentist's dentist, and he should be yours as well.

I had absolutely no bruising, swelling or pain whatsoever for the first 4 days. The following week was slightly painful as I think the blood clot may have became slightly dislodged. I got a burning sensation in my jaw anytime I drank or breathed in too hard. Of course none of this was his problem so that is not the reason for 3 stars. 1- I was not very impressed with his assistants. They were not very friendly and argued in the room on who would help with my surgery. They literally stood over me arguing "no you helped with the last one". I was to the point where I wished neither one of them had to be there. 2- Dr. Peterson or one of the assistants could've been better explaining how I needed to perform oral care post-op as well as what to eat and when to change the gauze. None of this was explained. I was given a yellow instructions sheet and my 4 wisdom teeth in a baggy. A long double sided page of instructions Is not quite what I want to read while recovering. The instructions apparently said to change the gauze 2 hours after surgery and they didn't offer us any. My escort had to ask. 3- Was the unsatisfactory environment. The surgery was at the Union location. It's an older building so I understand a few things being out dated, however it didn't not seem like the overall building maintenance was well kept. The restroom was also dirty and the toilet seat was falling off the hinges. I was expecting a little more relaxing environment before surgery. 4- Lastly they charged me for a full hour of anesthesia. I don't know if that is standard everywhere but paying $664 ($166/15mins) upfront was not convenient. The receptionist assured me that I would get reimbursed whatever I did not use which is true. However, she did not submit a claim for the refund until I called a week after my surgery. It probably would have never happened if I didn't not follow up and they would've pocketed $332 since my surgery was only half an hour. It's been nearly 2 months and I still have not been reimbursed.

It was instantly different than any other office I'd experienced, and they made me less anxious even after everything I'd been through with the terrible dentist. I brought the rest of my family with me (we had 3 generation's coming). Even when our insurance said they were out of network we wouldn't go anywhere else. Once I was married my husband made the switch and he agreed everyone is amazing. Dr. Smith and Dr. Erlander and all the hygienists became family friends. I look forward to going and even took my 2 week old baby with me to my appointment because I knew they'd want to meet him. When my grandparents passed away they sent personal messages, and their hygienist attended their funerals, which is unheard of from other places. I can't recommend them enough! Their knowledge and experience shines through as they treat you, and you'll leave with new friends. If you want to look forward to going to the dentist, go here!

If those of you reading this review are looking for a great dentist, these guys are really good. I am now 76 years old and was billed a surprising dollar amount due to change in insurance carriers. I was not aware that the business / billing office would charge me 3 times what is the normal charge for Delta Dental or my new insurer United Health Care. In the past (with Delta) I was billed the difference between the "amount allowed" (the amount the insurance company is willing to pay) and the amount of coverage. example, Billed amount = $400, Amount Allowed = $150, Coverage is 50% of $150 = $75. Because I am now with United Health, same example... Billed amount =$400, Amount allowed = $150, Coverage is 50% should be $75 but NO, I am billed $400 - $150 = $250, coverage is 50% = $125, not $75 as billed under Delta , And NOT told that it would be billed this way until after the procedure(s) are done! Bottom line is if your insurance is out of network or you have no insurance, you are going to billed as much as 3 times more!! I discussed with Tiffany at the office who was very condescending and rude. Unfortunately I will have to change dentist due to the way NON NETWORK is handled at HBD. Tiffany had no problem with me no longer a patient. Terribly unfortunate as again I really like the dentists, but the business office is extremely lacking in tact and professionalism. I had to charge $800 to my credit card and because I am retired (unemployed, living off primarily social security) I will have to pay this off over the next year! No need for the office to reply to this, but I am fairly certain they will (especially if its the front office responding)
