Over the years I've been to various dental office, but without hesitation can state this is clearly the best! The staff from the front desk, Dr. Carter, Dr. Rikli and RDH hygienists are exceptional. I am so afraid of dental work. I had a crown completed 11-12-24 and it was still extremely hard for me. The entire team was amazing. They made me feel like I mattered, and didn't take my fear lightly. Lydia at the front was nice and professional. Sally was amazing with her encouraging words that I was doing great. She gave me the warmest blanket and put Netflix on for me. I felt like I had money lol although I don't. Dr. Carter did a fabulous job on my crown. All around it was a pretty good experience, minus the crown part. :) At the end they gave me mouthwash to rinse, a warm towel, mints, and a baby chapstick. My husband and I have been going to Northgate Dental for over 10 years. We have never been disappointed with our care. Shelly, Greta and Lydia the front desk the staff greets you immediately and is very professional and caring. Never once have we felt like we were a number to them. The waiting area feels like sitting in your own living room. There was minimum time to wait after being checked in before seeing our dental hygienist. Questions were asked if we had any issues that we wanted address. This was our semi-annual visit, Amanda and Tami were the hygienist that we saw and they both were excellent. Dr. Carter is so much FUN!! He loves to laugh and has a friendly personality. The office is clean and feels happy when you walk in the door! All of the staff are friendly as well. I had my teeth cleaned yesterday by Shauna, and it was the very BEST I have EVER had my teeth cleaned! I was so amazed with her work! This is a great dental office. Dr. Carter is so warm and caring. I recently had a scary mouth sore that freaked me out and texted him late hoping to hear in the morning.He got back to me at 9:30 at night!!! And got me in first thing the next morning. They are responsive and kind and for a neat freak like myself the office is immaculate. Front desk staff is friendly and helpful and the hygienists are Cannot say enough nice things. Discriminates against veterans, and refuses to follow VA ethical guidelines preventing "balance billing". Required to agree that "we will file your claim up to three times, and after 90 days the balance becomes your responsibility". Shelly called me today, even after being asked to email me only as an ADA accommodation, to express her anger with me for reporting Northgate Dental's ethical violations to the VA. I had to ask the VA to stop investigating because she said that if the VA called her again regarding me I'd be dismissed as a patient. She then told me that "we had to be on the same page". I want to remain a patient of Northgate Dental since they're the only provider who accepts VA insurance and offers treatment I need, but, very disappointed and feel nervous that my request for an ADA accommodation was refused without comment. I'm also very disappointed that Northgate Dental won't commit to following the VA's ethical guidelines regarding balance billing. Before my October dental hygiene appointment, I'll have to sign a document for Northgate Dental Financial Alliance agreeing to be billed if the VA doesn't pay. (I was told the form was needed to submit the claim to VA insurance, TriWest, but, no other provider requires that form, it's not what the plain language of the form indicates it's for, and then she said it was for "Financial Alliance", which is an agreement to pay if insurance doesn't pay before 90 days and three submissions by Northgate Dental) Shelly then snapped at me about the $89 that was refunded. The VA community care ethical guidelines prevent soliciting veterans, and they require all necessary services to be submitted to the VA. The VA would have covered that $89. antibiotic test because the ethical guidelines state that they will cover all necessary treatment. The office environment at Northgate Dental seems so kind and wonderful for non-veterans. I wish I could have half the experience they have. None of the other reviews mention Shelly spontaneously calling them to express anger, and, if such a thing was common, I'd expect it to be mentioned. However rare my experience might be, I think it's appropriate to share so that other veterans could know what they might expect if they express ethical concerns. To update my review after communicating with Dr. Carter: He wrote that "the legal document you have been referring to is rarely executed to the extent that you have been concerned about. It is something to protect the entity that is Northgate Dental. It is never utilized to harm patients monetarily in any way, especially Veterans. If we do not protect our business, then there would be no Northgate Dental." --- If a legal document can be executed, it will be. Rarely is not never. It's my duty to ensure I fully agree with the consequences of any contract I sign. "Overall, this misunderstanding has escalated to the point where we may not be the best fit for you as a dental provider." -- I'm being denied treatment in response to my calmly, and politely expressing ethical concerns and requesting that Northgate Dental follow the guidelines of VA community care. read more

I would not recommend this office. Calm pleasant office environment. Nice office people & gentle hygienist. Briefly saw the dentist. I was not shown X-rays/pictures while recommending 2 crowns & a sleep study and not addressing the 2 issues I was concerned about. He may be a good dentist but I did not feel listened to. I got a second opinion and yes I do need 2 crowns but one of the crowns needs a root canal re-treatment because of an infection. (He did not mention or suggest treatment for it) I really hate leaving negative reviews. read more

I had an awesome experience considering going to the dentist is on my least of "things I avoid"! From the moment I walked through the doors I was greeted by the very friendly front desk team and escorted right back! Sally took amazing care to make me feel super comfortable, and took care of all of my x-rays! She then handed me off to Melissa who did a super thorough cleaning for me! Dr. Carter took excellent care and time with me! He was very calm and reassuring of the next steps in my care! I really, really appreciated the timeliness of the team as they told me I'd be there for two hours (new patient) and I was there for exactly two hours! 10/10 recommend! read more

The new location is just amazing!!! I can't be surprised because Dr. Carter only wants the best for his patients! Ok, this is my second review. I wanted to add a few things about the new location. 1. The chairs have massage!!! WHAT!!! Yes! 2. The rinse water is warm! I can honestly say no dentist I have ever gone to had warm water for rinse during the procedure. It has always been cold...till now. For me this was a huge comfort! 3. The equipment is even better then the other location. Hard to believe but true. 4. Where to even begin?! First off I would like to say that I am a person who takes comfort in a clean and well kept doctors or dentist office because it lets me know they care about their space and their patients. From the moment you walk in to the moment you walk out everything you see is immaculately kept. Clean surfaces, newer equipment etc. The staff greets you immediately and is very professional and caring. Never once did I feel like just another patient. Shelly sat and personally talked with me about my bad experience that's kept me from going to the dentist regularly. They made sure I was comfortable the entire time. I had a deep cleaning and a full new patient work up and I cannot express my gratitude enough to Mari and the staff. I specifically remember having my teeth worked on thinking "Could it be? Am I ACTUALLY fully relaxed at the dentist and having an amazing dental experience?" Mari did an exquisite job on my deep clean. Not once (no seriously) not once was I in even a small amount of pain. She was very thorough and was constantly making sure I was okay. I am a new patient that called with a very sore tooth that ended up being an emergency issues. Dr. Carter and his staff were so very friendly, well informed and efficient. They quickly did x-rays and assessed me and knew that I need a referral to an Endodontist. They quickly called and got me an appointment that same day. I generally do not enjoy going to the Dentist , but I do look forward to returning to get a comprehensive exam and cleaning. The office itself is beautiful, they are all so very friendly from check in to check out. I would highly recommend this office and Specifically Dr. Carter to anyone. read more

Seriously, worst service I have ever received by dental care. The doctor was beyond rude, it left me shocked and upset, I actually walked out... I have a lot of work to be done on my teeth, so of course I'm in pain...If you ask for pain medication from the doctor, be prepared to be completely degraded and made out to be a drug addict. (Btw I clearly do not do any drugs). Also, maybe I would pay for their extremely overpriced services if they actually cared about the patients well-being. Their business is just about making money, that's all they care about. I cannot believe they are in business! Also, the doctor is only about 30. So he obviously doesn't have much experience. The only positive thing I will say, is that dental hygienist was extremely extremely kind and nice. She said she is leaving to Indiana in a few weeks and I am so glad for her, she deserves so much better! read more

Over the course of my military career, I have experienced quite a few dentists during that time - some good, some not so good. Unfortunately, due to those experiences I have developed a somewhat disliking of "going to the dentist". That was until I recently retired and started visiting Dr. Carter's Northgate Dental on a regular basis. Although my family has been going there for several years now, I now am a regular too and am absolutely thrilled with my experiences, especially this week. The staff at Northgate Dental are pleasant to deal with and very professional. I am always informed ahead of time what all of my options are and Tommy makes sure all the I's are dotted and the T's are crossed so I always know before my procedure what I will be financially responsible for, and what my insurance will cover - there are never any surprises. During this week's visit, Kristen was so awesome I completely forgot I was at the dentist! I even joked with her and said "I feel like I am at the spa". Although the procedure I was undergoing was rather intense, I was so comfortable and relaxed something uncommon for me to experience at the dentist. Dr. Carter has assembled an awesome team; created a pleasant environment; utilizes state of the art equipment; pays attention to the details; and most importantly he takes care of the client, delivering excellence with every one of my visits. After seeing the commercials on Northgate Dental this place looked classy and modern and it was near my work so thought I would switch over to Northgate Dental. I will admit the office is nice and they are definitely up to date with the latest technology which was all a plus for me but the staff just wasn't the friendliest and didn't make me feel welcome then to top it off I will say Northgate Dental is the Jiffy Lube of Dental offices. They like to upsell services and over exaggerate a bit on your dental needs. I was told I needed to have 8 fillings done and also needed a laser treatment done to my gums. Which ended up not to be true after seeing another dentist, either way I accepted and the receptionist was supposed to call me back to schedule a time to do my fillings.. Well she never called and never heard back from them till my next appointment 6 months later. My appointment comes around and I have the flu so I call to cancel my appointment till the following week the receptionist was totally rude about my cancellation and told me they had no openings for 4 months which sounded to me as if they were punishing me for cancelling my appointment. Overall I wasn't satisfied with this office might just be my personal experience but I don't plan on going back anytime soon. read more

Questionable billing in comparison to our new dentist. The staff and dentist also did not treat my daughters as respectful as they should have. I am not sure that the office was even billing our insurance, and I am certain I was double billed. It was suggested that additional treatments were necessary, which we learned later were not. In order to pull four winsome teeth, the cost would be $2000, up front. We went to an oral surgeon instead. The total cost was $400. Our insurance covered the rest. We paid a ton of money for lackluster dentistry and horrid costumer service. read more

I had written a review of this clinic earlier, giving it only 3 stars because of a billing dispute. Dr. Carter was kind enough to call me to work it out. Since I needed more dental work, I was willing to try it again after talking to him. Since then I have had 4 crowns replaced and I'm very happy with how I was treated. The staff is warm and kind, and Dr. Carter has been wonderful. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is the prices are high, but he has a totally up-to-date office and makes his own crowns there on the site so you don't have to wait. I have never been treated with such impertinence on the two occasions I visited this dental office. When I showed up to my dental appointment, Dr. Carter reprimanded me and accused me of being late and stated he does not tolerate tardiness. He spoke to me in a condescending manner and said he could not see me because I was late. I told him I was on time, in fact, I was 10 min early. He did not care to listen and dismissed me. It turns out his receptionist mixed up the times and told me one appointment time but had another one on Dr. Carter's calendar. Honest mistake, but Dr. Carter did not handle it professionally nor respectfully as he disparaged me in front of his staff. When I returned to my rescheduled appointment, I was quoted $10,000 to fix a grinding issue and place a couple of crowns. I sought a second opinion and I was only quoted $2,200. My new dentist requested my dental records from Northgate Dental and a few days later I received a letter from Dr. Carter stating he was dropping me as his patient because I do not "trust in his care." Their professionalism, honest kindness and compassion, willingness to work through issues and a true commitment to getting it done right are nothing short of amazing. I believe one can find out the true character of a person, not when things go right, but when things take an unexpected turn. I can tell you from experience, their true colors in those moments and the colors are warm, kind and sincere. Yes they have a beautiful facility, but we have found so much more than that there. I have always been greeted by a friendly and professional front office staff. Shelly, Tommie, and Marissa are all amazing. Dr. Carter is the absolute best at what he does. He always gives me quality consultation time, is caring and professional, and is thorough in every step with his dentistry skills. He has state-of-the-art equipment and methods. I had such a mess of 30+ year-old fillings that he helped re-construct to the most beautiful smile today. His dental assistant, Bev, helped walk me through long procedure days and cared for me the entire time. Now I'm proud to smile and take pictures again. I've had a couple of emergencies occur, and the staff has called me right back. Dr. Carter has always fit me into his busiest days, and I appreciate that very much in a dentist. He always calls in the evening to check on how I'm doing after crown-work procedures.
