But this morning, 10/2/2025, I had a few items to get, and after getting them I decided to check out the breakfast bar. The young man waiting on customers was washing dishes, he stopped washing to wait on customers, he was wearing restaurant style serving gloves, but he wiped them off with a paper towel and commenced to touching food with those gloves he was washing dishes with. Now I know Ingles provides plenty of gloves for the employees to change out, which he did not. I don't know what type of chemicals are used to clean with, but a simple glove change would have been great so we as customers don't have to ingest that into our system. Tighten up Ingles before you poison someone. And I will be speaking to Spencer Richards about it when I see him again.

This place makes me feel like a kid. It's the exact kind of convenience store I remember going to on long road trips with my parents. Fluorescent lights, linoleum tile, big league chew, and an aroma cigarette smoke, faint.. but ever present, engrained into the very structure of the building. The gas pumps are mainly just for show. This may also be one of the only convenience stores that doesn't carry an ultra selection of high abv local craft brews in 22 oz bottles. They have a couple of six packs for Highland, but it would seem as though the beer distributors haven't found or tend to avoid this spot. One truly unique item they carry here is Budweiser in 8oz cans. Also available are a wide array of gold chains and medallions, gilligan hats with phrases such as "Keep it 100" and "YOLO", and a surprisingly large selection of incense. The owners are highly pleasant people. A wonderful couple. Very sweet, excited to have you in their store. I won't be heading here for supplies before a party or anything... but I will come here for a healthy dose of Southern nostalgia.

Gas is cheaper in South Carolina, and you'll immediately know why when you drive on our roads! The advertised gas prices are the cash-only prices, and if you plan to pay with a credit card (like most people), you will pay a few cents more. Even after the extra 10 cents per gallon, it was still one of the less expensive gas stations in the area, though. I got a coffee and topped it off with some hot chocolate cappuccino. The cappuccino machine worked well (often, gas station cappuccino machines are clogged and only dispense water with a hint of flavoring). My coffee was as good as I could've expected it to taste from a Hot Spot. The convenience store has a good selection of local brews as well, including one of our favorites, Ginger's Revenge. Hot Spot isn't fancy, but it gets the job done if you need gas and snacks for the road.

For 2 minutes they were trying to call someone. Never once acknowledged me or told me what was going on. Finally, I asked: "Is there a problem? You've left me here clueless trying to pay." On checkout, Aisle 2 I believe. Two talkative ladies. I said, "Hello." Nothing. Not even a nod. The talk was about a boyfriend. It was pleasant. Cashier handed me receipt. Not even a thank you. Bagger (boyfriend topic) at least said thank you. WOW. I go to staffed aisles on purpose. I support humans and don't get any discounts doing it myself. I should have scanned my own stuff today. At places like Publix, you're treated with respect and your time is valued. Until Ingles prioritizes customer convenience and real savings, I'll be shopping elsewhere.
