last meal before leaving cancun at the airport...found "the marketplace," but apparently it is a wolfgang puck airport restaurant...was walking up to the kiosk to order, but stopped by a uniformed staff who would assist with the order...thought it was odd, but went with it...ordered a pepperoni pizza 435 pesos...staff asked if we wanted ranch and jalapenos...sure...ordered chicken fingers 405 pesos...staff asked if we wanted ranch...sure...water?....sure...given a total 1,030 pesos and paying and adding tip...no receipt provided...staff found an empty table in the airport and told us to wait...had no idea what was going on...waited and waited...started to worry...eventually, the staff started to deliver the food and provided the receipt once everything was delivered...noticed extra charges of 25 pesos for each ranch and jalapenos...had no idea it would cost extra and didn't really need that much ranch...water was 115 pesos...1,030 peso ended up being $60.59 paid in usd for just the food only which wasn't terrible and tip was charged later on my card...airport prices, but pretty expensive...pizza was thick crust and decent...about 4 large slices...chicken fingers were 4 large pieces of chicken breast with plenty of fries...was a lot of food for even 3 people...maybe order from the kiosk if you want to know the prices and what is being charged... read more

I just wanted something light for lunch before boarding a 6 hr flight back to CA. Cancun airport is teeming with people, shopping and a ton of American big name restaurants (Guy Fieri, Wolfgang Puck, Bubba Gump, Margaritaville)- obviously catering to the plethora of deeper-pocketed foreigners that visit. Pair that with "airport prices," and suddenly I'm paying almost $20 for a small bowl of Asian chicken salad at Wolfgang Puck's marketplace. Sigh. Vegans and vegetarians - you know there's not a lot of choices in airport food courts, or at least not good ones, and Cancun is no exception. I stopped by Guacamole ¡Andale!, but their veggie burrito/bowl looked pretty weak. The vegetarian option was a sad mix of sliced peppers and onions, basically the filler for a fajita. So I backtracked to The Marketplace for the hummus wrap - skip the feta. What I got was a huge wrap filled with mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, kalamata olives and - because I went all out - about a quarter of an avocado. Pretty good stuff for an airport. I do have to say the home made fries were an overdone, nearly burnt disaster - but I ate most of them anyway. So the above, plus a bottle of water, cost me $20.80. They have a menu of 6-8 entrees plus a counter stocked with grab and go options, and our group wound up doing some of both. I have loved Wolfgang Puck's seasonings for years, so when I saw that they had a restaurant in the food court at the airport I had to try it out. Like most others have stated this is the most expensive pizza I have ever had in my life. I ordered the Margarita pizza it came with ranch dressing which I asked for on the side. My fiancé had the pepperoni pizza. We added a large water and our total came to $40. Each pizza is about 6 small thin slices which is just enough to fill up one adult. Thankfully they give you a little buzzer to notify you when your meal is ready. It took 35 minutes to get our food. They do cook everything as the orders come in so I was not shocked that the food took long. I must admit, the pizza was the best Margarita Pizza I have ever had and that ranch dressing was scrumptious. You expect to pay more at an airport and you definitely will at this one regardless of which restaurant you go to. This review is for the "Wolfgang Puck Kitchen," which is next to the market at Cancun airport. For the good, the food was quickly prepared and not bad for an airport. I only had a salad though. On the bad side of things - they over charged me and even the manager didn't seem to care when I pointed out the error. My receipt stated a 150 peso charge for two Arnold Palmers, drinks I did not order. I ordered one iced tea. When I ordered my meal, I asked to have a slice of bread with my salad and they said it would be no problem, we can just add it with no charge. The bread was a slice of sandwich bread, llsimilar to wonder bread, but wheat and toasted. The receipt showed a charge of 40 pesos or a $2.25 USD. There seems to be a disconnect between the waiter staff, the management and the kitchen. This wouldn't be be that big of a deal, after all it was not that expensive, but I really do not enjoy being forced to pay for something I did not order or was told had no extra charge -- then being told I had to pay in full before leaving. Airport food is often best described as "tolerable" but this place is different. Don't be discouraged by the line, it'll be worth the wait. I had the pizza and it was restaurant quality! This is not the conveyor belt pizza in fashion today- it is cooked in a fire-burning pizza oven (weird in an airport, right?). That gives the crust, which was delicious, the right amount of baked and burned. Ingredients were fresh and they use (gasp) real cheese! This pizza itself comes in one size, which is akin to a medium at your local Pizza Hut, which may be a bit too large for some. Go ahead and share but be warned- after the first slice you may want the whole pizza for yourself. (Full disclosure: I ate the entire pizza by myself- don't judge!) And therein lies the only demerit. The pizza comes in a standard cardboard box...which doesn't lend itself to saving leftovers for the flight. You'd look pretty silly putting a pizza box in the overhead bin...plus who knows what's living up there! For those looking to stretch out their devouring experience, there isn't much hope for you. Hopefully one day they'll have a "foil station" that allows you to wrap up the slices you have left. Until then, just be a glutton and eat the whole thing! Or as an act of kindness, share your pizza with a stranger! They'll think you're crazy but pizza this good can do that to you! read more

Stopped in this particular terminal on my way back home to Los Angeles. I tried to eat at Guy Fieri's restaurant, however, flavor town closes at six o'clock. So I decided to give this place a try and let me tell you it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. I ordered the fish and chips. The batter was chewy and the fish was flavorless. It was one of the worst meals I've ever spent $50 on. (I was dining with another person) If this restaurant is any indicator of Wolfgang Puck's cooking ability or the quality of his food then I'd advise everyone to stay away. The fries were the only decent thing on my plate which is why it deserves two stars instead of one. Also don't try to blame the hard working employees. Shit travels downhill. Garbage. read more

I was very impressed with this location in the Cancun international airport. It's located near several decent options such as Dominos, Johnny Rockets and Guacamole. Portions at all the other locations looked lackluster so I went on a a limb and tried the marketplace by Wolfgang Puck. Compared to all the other food my friends ordered, the Marketplace was definitely the winner. The sandwich was fresh and came with free chips. $180 pesos is about $10 USD which was the same price as everything else in the area. I ordered the roasted turkey and white cheddar sandwich and let me tell you it was amazing. The flavors were like nothing I have ever had before. Their was barbecue coleslaw, turkey and cheese on a large toasted sourdough bread. If it was something that I could get locally I would order it every week that's how good it was. Order took about 7 minutes to come up and staff was friendly. The only reason I took off a star is because of how the sandwich was $10 USD which is a little steep and there could have been slightly more meat on it but considering it's from an airport, I was not disappointed and will be getting it again next time I'm back! read more
