If you live in Markham, you would have been receiving a copy of Markham Economist & Sun Newspaper every Thursdays and Saturdays. It has some local news and event listings but mainly it is really stuffed with flyers (junk mails in disguise!!)... Remember the days pre Internet it might be a good ideal.. but now every single companies almost have their specials of the week listed on their websites: I wish one can just opt out on the delivery... as every week I just put in it the recycling boxes without even reading it! read more

we have been in Markham for over 40 years and specifically on a street called Roseberry road for the past 8+ years. Since moving to Roseberry we have never received the paper.We are the ONLY street around this circle that does NOT receive the paper. We have called several times and are always told that our street is not on their delivery list and they are not aware of this street! I decided to write here as a last resort as we cannot get anyone in their circulation department that appears to get it!! Wayne read more

I am living in 298 Calvert Road for over 20 years. At the beginning I'm happy received the Economist & Sun Newspaper. It given us a lot of news and surrounding grocery shop pricing. It save me a lot of time. It is unlucky that from last year. Our Block won't have any paper any more. Why in same road some have it and some house haven't received. As a local newspaper, Economist and Sun diligently reports the city politics and events. I found out where and when the flu clinics were last year. I found out the weekly festivals in the summer. Most of all, I enjoy the weekly flyers. No, I don't like to read online flyers. I like to open the flyers of 5 different grocery stores and 4 hardware stores and circle the sale items I want for the week. I carry the flyers with me while shopping, so I remember where to buy what. The only thing I don't like is the Saturday version. It is for the real estate listings, and I guess I don't buy a new real estate weekly. read more

For the most part I like this paper. I have okay with past delivery people, but lately the lady that delivers our paper has been off the mark. Firstly, she puts the paper on the driveway. When my kids delivered the paper we were told it had to go on the porch. The lady has been doing this for a while but I did not complain because she looks older and probably needs this job. But this past Friday all I got was a bunch of flyers and NO paper! So now I gotta call the paper and tell on her. She has taken things too far! read more

I wish the Economist & Sun Thursday edition & their on-line version were similar in content. However, the reason I am writing is with their atrocious weekly delivery. I guess they are having trouble recruiting kids to deliver the newspaper. Not at all surprised - with what they pay the kids. The newspaper delivery is erratic - sometimes its there on Thursday night or not at all. The newspaper is dumped at the edge of the driveway - often soggy after a snowfall or rain. read more
