Great park. The ranger met us and a parking pass ($5). The site was perfect for the reunion outing with play structure and a volley ball court. Bathrooms close and super cleaned for a park. Very well stocked. Parking was easy. read more

You can't make reservations on the Weekends, only one tent per site is absolutely ridiculous for $40 a night, also the overflow lot is for "family" only for some reason, you can even stay with your friends, this place doesn't want your money and just like stingy rules, I guess they just hate peoples staying here, would 10000% recommend any other campsites than this dog crap place. read more

I love this park for walking and just enjoying the good fresh air. The vibrant fall colors are always a perk, if I am visiting at that time of year. For you locals, it is a blessing. read more

This was a nice park with a neat little beach, trees for shade, and plenty of nearby bathrooms. The water was warm enough for the kids to go in and try to catch fish. I walked around the path to see the bridge and the island and came across some interesting birds, a beaver, and a snake. The path wrapped around through the edge of the campground and alongside a second playscape. There's a playground near the beach as well (fairly basic though). I felt the park was clean and the bathrooms were very clean. It was not overly crowded during a major holiday and we stayed for a few hours. Aside from the beach area, there are a few pavilions and grills. read more

Was a clean park! The staff went above and beyond! They checked on us 4-5 times in 4 hours and we appreciated it. The only downfall is how the bathrooms are from the pavilions. We had elderly people and it was far as well as wet. read more

I really would have liked to have given this campground/park a better rating. The staff is super-ultra nice, and the shower and washroom facilities were unbelievably clean for such a place. The campground area, however, just sucks. The whole area is clear-cut, and there is NO shade from 6 AM till 9 PM. NONE. There's way more concrete than grass, and the grass that is there is dry and scrubby. The only other upside is that there's a nice pond and beach area to mess around in. The real coup de grace here was when we discovered that the campground has train tracks immediately next to it. We found this out when the train came rolling through at 4AM, BLASTING its horn. The dog and kid completely freaked out. I won't be back. If you're looking for a relaxing camping experience, or any sort of hiking or nature immersion whatsoever, avoid this like the plague. read more

I arrived by bicycle and tent camped overnight. The check-in was smooth and efficient, and I purchased firewood and had a nice campfire in the fire pit. The campground was clean and well maintained, but could use more shade trees. I slept well as the only train came by in late evening, but it was quite close. The facilities are immaculate, and plenty of hot water for a shower. I was disappointed that the grounds keeping crew showed up so early to mow; that was a little rude for those that wanted to sleep in. The park is very nice, and I'll camp there again. One tip though, the connecting path to the bike path into Kalamazoo, it's down a dirt road on the far side of the lakes and up the clear-cut for the power lines (opposite direction of the RR) on the right. It's not well marked, and not open all year! read more

My brother in law is an essential worker. He's been working waaay more than usual for the past 4.5 months. Almost 4 weeks ago he and my sister made camping reservations. They were so excited to take my niece camping for the first time. Then, with zero notice, 2 people at my brother in law's job quit. He is the manager so of course he had to work all of those empty shifts now. So my sister called to cancel their reservation and was told they would be getting no refund whatsoever. My family that has had 4 months of nothing but stress was going to lose money on top of the weekend they thought they would get to spend together. So my sister, dad, niece, and I set up camp and decided to make the best of it. Her husband would come whenever he could. They wanted to charge all of us the $5 entrance fee every time we came to help out or visit, including my brother in law!! This place is ridiculous. So, so disappointed and disgusted at the way everyone has been treated. read more

We were out for drive after dinner and decided to take a quick swing through the campground to look at the layout and the campsites and see if we'd like to stay here sometime. Unfortunately, they wouldn't let us just drive through for a look, without paying the $5 entry fee. I certainly would have happily paid this if we were planning to stay for the day or even a couple hours but to require this for a 5 minute drive around the loop is dumb. Have some common sense and be reasonable. We won't be staying here...lots of other wonderful places in the area to camp and we've never had someone do this to us anywhere else. read more

The one review back 2007 may be truth but I'm glad that I didn't base my decision on that. Of all the campground this ranking on top of our list. This is the nicest state park we have ever been at. The water in the creek is crystal clear. Our kids love the play ground. We would take this campground over a KOA campground any day. read more

Markin Glen is a wonderful park. The staff in great. There is a lake, fishing ponds, tennis courts, picnic areas, etc. The RV area is open so you can get satellite TV and not worry about trees falling on you during a severe thunder storm.. There is lots of nice green grass between the concrete and asphalt sites. There is a train track near the campground and, though not frequent, trains with loud whistles are heard in the night. As full time RVers who have been on the road since 1999, we find that railroad tracks are the rule rather than the exception. Full hooks-ups with 50 amps for $25 a night is rare these days but that has been the rate at Markin Glen for several years. This is one of the better municipal parks we have encountered. read more

The park was extremely well taken care of. Nice, clean restroom/shower. The sites are concrete pads with grassy yards. Small trees don't provide shade....but will as they grow. Awesome clean, large picnic tables that are well put together. Very nice paved walking path around lake/pond with piers for fishing. Nice beach and playground area. Train track runs along one side of the park, but we didn't hear a train all weekend. Tree line and wildflower meadows make you feel very secluded even though it's right on the edge of town. We would definitely go back and stay at Markin Glen again. read more
