They have a cafe inside that serves nice food at good prices. You can sometimes find things here that you can't at other stores. When you walk in to the store the cafe is on the left hand side and the cash desks on the right. You have to walk past the cash desks to the other end of the shop to get in to the shopping area. They have lots of ready to eat food, pasties, chicken etc.

They have a cafe too, up a fllight of stairs from womenswear, or up in the lift. The womenswear section has a dorothy perkins, wearhouse, principals and oasis as well as the Debenhams brands such as Rocha John Rocha, Red Herring and my favourite, Julien Macdonald. They regularly have sales of upto 70% off, and it's definately woth catching these early for quality items at bargain prices. The Debenhams Classic section of the store is great for cheap basics, although these items aren't the most beautiful ever, they will be the start of a staple wardrobe. I recently bought a grey pencil skirt for less than £10. It's perfect for work! There is a free personal shopper in the lincoln store, who you can book in advance. She's very good, knowing quickly what will suit you, and she's not at all pushy like some sales women are. She's not intimidating either, I went to her after i put on a lot of weight, i'd gone upto a size 18/20 and didn't know what suited me anymore and she was so kind and patient and showed me so many ways to dress up basic items so i could have a whole new wardrobe without spending much (she even offered to take me out and show me lincoln because i said i'd just moved!) It's a lovely big store, and although it's not really cheap, when the sales are on, some real bargains can be had. They're also very accommodating when it comes to returns of faulty goods etc.

It has a massive range of products; perfumes and cosmetics, watches, jewellery, clothes - mens, womens and childrens, lingerie, toys and games, household goods - cutlery, pots, pans, fabrics, in fact all the sorts of things you'd expect to find in a department store. In Grimsby we have a rather nice House of Fraser Store but I do prefer to come to Lincoln to go to Debenhams because it has everything House of Fraser have and more, it's also laid out better - it almost has a bazaar feel to it with lots of little nooks and crannies where bargains are often to be found, the staff are great too. I must not forget to mention the store restaurant - it blows most other department store restaurants away. The choice is pretty good and the prices aren't bad at all. The layout is pretty good and it is fairly sizeable too, so even when it's busy you can usually find a table and the staff are brilliant - which when you've got a child with you who suddenly decides they are hungry you need fast helpful service and that's exactly what you get.

At the entrance of this store, there is a beautiful display of bathing things: scented, glittery, soapy things. Beautiful. Further back there are hats and belts. Then a small section of crystal stuff. And other department store areas. Even for the experienced shopper, I was having a tough time telling the department stores apart. I was trying to organize by hierarchy and some left me a bit confused. This was not as trendy as New Look nor as cheap in quality. But it's not M&S. Everything is expensive in the UK. Even going to the toilet comes with a fee.

They only have small ranges of all the items they offer, which means choice is limited, and a lot of the designers they stock are old-fashioned and unfashionable. On the ground floor you find handbags, men's clothing, women's clothing, kitchenware, china, glass and bedding as well as a fabric/haberdashery department. Typical brands on offer include Portmeirion china and Fiorelli handbags. Upstairs is the lingerie shop, which admittedly has a fantastic range, particularly of shapewear. Eve and Ranshaw is crowded and it's hard to negotiate if you have a buggy or a child with you, but since the staff aren't child-friendly anyway, this isn't really a problem as its just somewhere to avoid if you are shopping with kids. It's a mainstay of the town, so I hope it keeps going, but I think it needs to move with the times - if only slightly - if it's to survive another 100+ years!

The store is well laid out with lots of good quality products, however it does get very busy and there is never enough checkout staff to meet the demand meaning you are often left queueing and the staff are less then helpful, they never offer bags or help to pack and leave you stood there with your goods yet in a bag whilst they start serving the next customer.

But maybe it's because I don't know how to make jersey work for me. My body is shaped like a barrel fisted horse shoe on its side. Jersey shows off all the bumps and ripples. I can't wear jersey properly even if you bribed me with chips and gravy. I just don't know how. Here, we have some cute designs. Obviously inexpensive alternatives to high street or designer labels, but with splashes of color that keeps it fresh.
