I've always been to this shooting range, but honestly, I'm tired of all the workers' attitudes. They charged $50 me for "hitting a hanger," but when I asked them, "Wouldn't it have a bullet hole if I hit it?" they stayed silent. The hanger is in perfect condition and not damaged and they will continue to use it. Plus if I did actually hit it then yes I would understand. However, Nelson the worker was extremely rude when he told me and just kept yelling at everyone who was shooting. Every time I go, the men there always look at me like I'm dumb and have never held a firearm before. I'm a competition shooter, by the way. I've been shooting for years.. About a year ago, one of the tall white dudes made a comment about a top I was wearing and laughed as he kept looking down. This used to be a good range when more females worked there; it was more family-oriented, which I loved. However, I'm never coming back here again because of the way they've treated me each time. read more

I came here this past Sunday and it was my first time going. I had a GREAT day at the range because of Nelson and his staff. At the moment, I'm still a little green when it comes to shooting. Eddie who works there actually gave me some tips and was really kind while doing so. You can't beat the price either. I went with the purpose of really training with my personal firearm, but I saw the selection they had and the rental prices are priced great. So I'll definitely try something from their inventory when I'm looking to mixup my firearm selection. You can tell Nelson is all about his customers and their safety. While there, someone wasn't properly following the rules. I think there was a warning, and after that, they were politely asked to leave, which made me feel extremely comfortable there. For a smaller range, it really does have a personality and I absolutely loved it. I also overheard Nelson giving a lesson to this young man and he was so patient and knowledgeable. Eddie was the same way with me when he was giving me a hand while my front sight was being fixed. I can only imagine the rest of the staff follows suit, because Nelson seems to be a great business owner with expectations that makes everyone's experience fun, comfortable, relaxed, and safe. I live about 45min to an hour away, and I still plan on getting a membership and lessons. I don't think I'll be going anywhere else to work on my shooting etiquette and skills. This is one AWESOME place to go to about guns, classes and shooting range. I have not been in a friendlier gun store and I have been in quite a few in different States. The place looks like a hole in the wall from the outside. The parking space is really small. And the neighborhood looks like you may need to be armed. But trust me all of that is truly nitpicky after you get to meet the crew. I haven't fired a firearm in over 10 years and needed to finally get a Texas license. I was immediately welcomed as I came in and it wasn't a plastic "Welcome to WalMart" welcome. I walked around looking at their guns and accessories and their lanes. I was surprised on how many lanes they had. I was still a bit nervous when a female a manager started to talk to me. (Man I really feel like a dummy for not remembering her name. I think it was Sonia). She calmed my nerves and asked all the appropriate questions. She took her time and answered everyone to my satisfaction. I told her that I signed up for their Saturday class but once again told her I was nervous about the required time sequence for the shooting portion. She then told me that I could come back any time before Saturday and that their instructor Nelson would teach me and prepare me for the test. I came the next day and I met with Nelson. Remember that name: NELSON!! He took his time in giving me very clear instructions and told me that if I followed his instructions I could ace the shooting portion. He then tested me and I actually got a 100% score!! This guy is truly AMAZING!!! As I was leaving he reminded me that my lane rental, which included ear and eye protection, was available for the day. I went back with my two 9mm handguns and blew the bulls eye out. Mark my words: I will not go anywhere else but to Marksman Indoor Range. Trust me you will not be disappointed. Brought my own gun to shoot however they DO have guns for rent (did my own research online and was confirmed upon arrival), but we ended up buying little accessories. ammo, ear muff for me, and a lane for babe since ladies get in free on Mondays! shooting is unlimited and you can buy more targets if you'd like. There were plenty people there but it still felt safe and well controlled environment. The lady and gent at the register were super nice and knowledgable. Literally the worst gun range I've ever been to. Service is awful. Staff is unfriendly and not helpful. I highly DO NOT recommend. There are way better ranges in the Houston area. Honestly I don't know how they're still in business. The prices aren't bad but they're also in a horrible part of town so just because it's a gun range doesn't mean you won't get robbed or have your vehicle broken into. I agree with some other reviewers, the short guy definitely has serious anger issues and overall lacks in people skills. I personally think they judge people and steal. My friend had a gun and they told him it was too powerful but I noticed they had guns available for rent that were way more powerful. Nonetheless, my friend put his gun up and we rented theirs. We were in there for 30mins and my friend's car was broken into, gun gone along with my wristlet (I never leave my purse in vehicles but felt it would be in the way trying to shoot). I asked if they could review the tapes and I was yelled at so to me if there was nothing to hide then it shouldn't have been a problem. Being a business especially with firearms you should want your customers to be safe and find the culprits. The window that was broken was also done in a more professional manner which again leads me to think the range had something to do with it. Material belongings were lost as well as a special keepsake that belonged to my deceased father but I'm glad my friend and I were safe. Overall my suggestion just steer clear, trust you'll thank me later. read more

I've been coming to Marksman for two years, paying good money, shooting safely, and enjoying the relationships I've made along the way. Just recently 11-4-2023 I attended the range, after about 200+ shots down range and on paper, I happen to shoot the corner of the hanger holding my target, mind you the hangar was and is still in perfect condition. Nelson, A shooting instructor there decided that it was justified to call me out on the situation according to the owners "new rule" that I had to pay a 50$ fee for "damaging" the hangar although the range will continue to re use it, Furthermore I will not be returning to the range due to this new skeem they're running, you can't tell me that this is justified. I've enjoyed everyday training in that facility, and because I don't have robo-cop aim and hit the hangar once you're going to penalize me ? just before my mishap Nelson had to yell at someone for not pointing their fire arm down range, yet they don't get penalized, but because one bullet out of 200+ hit the hangar I had to pay 50$ plus my 20$ shooting fee, that's disrespectful and possibly the worst customer service you can offer, at the same time they're inviting conflict being that no one warns you of this before hand, it's a terrible way to take advantage of customers. If I had been shooting recklessly, dumping 20 rounds at a time, being unsafe, I understand that clearly I would be in the wrong, but the owner is abusing people with the "new rule". read more

I was here working in the area. This was a great diversion from my work. Staff is friendly and helpful. I witnessed Nelson stop what he was doing behind the counter, grab an inert training pistol and give impromptu instruction to shooters who were having a discussion about why their POI didn't meet POA. It was my first time at a gun range and using a gun but it was recommended that I come here since they are so helpful and friendly. I brought some friends and Nelson gave us a safety class for first timers. He was very good and helpful. He does have his personal preferences on stuff but for good reason so don't take offense. Excellent place to go practice your shooting. It is very cheap to rent. It is 8 bucks per person to shoot all day no matter what type of gun. You can also leave (i.e. grab lunch) and then come back granted its on the same day. Comes with one bulleyes target each, but additional targets are inexpensive. Went on a Saturday afternoon and there were a few lanes open. Very friendly and attentive service. I inquired about ammo (didn't buy) but the prices are comparable (slightly more expensive) than a Walmart. So if you happen to expend all the ammo you brought and want to unload a few more mags, they got you covered. My friend bought a few magazines too.
