It's a furniture/home décor department store. The biggest difference between Pilipp and others…read more(like IKEA) is this store is multi-leveled (3?), and you can go to any departments you need to go and come back to the front cashier station to exit the store. So, you don't have to go thru the entire store from the beginning to the end like other furniture stores. That makes it more convenient for shopping IMHO. Displays are well-organized, store is well-lit, and it's very inviting. We went in for some Christmas decorations. Though we didn't find anything we needed or wanted this time, I'm sure we'll be back to check it out again sometime. If you are in need of any piece of furniture or some home décor items, I'd suggest you check this place out. They have ample parking available for your convenience. Happy hunting!

But the selection is excellent and so is the friendly service you receive. There's even a restaurant on the premises. If you need anything at all for the home and you're looking for good quality items that will last a long time, try Pilipp first. Remember to bring cash because, oddly, they don't accept cards at this high-end furniture store.

Ansbach has a few less stalls than Rothenburg. We drove about 40 minutes today from Rothenburg to Ansbach, and it was well worth it. Parking lot right outside of the market was 1.20€ per hour, and was a very short walk to St. Gumbertus church. Visitor center across from that church had clean, free restrooms, and a nice assortment of Christmas items. Right outside the visitor center, we had a sausage sandwich with kraut and mustard. It was delicious. After the market we strolled down Uzstraße which had several restaurants and shops.
