We've had several ear flushes and other minor procedures over the years, and the team has always treated my kids with patience and care. Today I called again to try to schedule an after emergency room appointment. The receptionist had such a condescending tone that I had no desire to deal with after a night of no sleep and 2 ER visits in 24 hours for my 2 year old. After reading the reviews this just appears to be a common theme, rude staff. So unfortunately I'll continue to drive my child an hour away so I'm not talked to like I'm an idiot during a very stressful time.

Then it came to the office staff, not as easy to deal with nor the ability to get a message back to the Dr as I was instructed to do if the problem returned. Shortly after we went there, I moved & had to switch pediatricians. I did receive a bill for $8.00 which my insurance didn't cover (not sure why secondary insurance didn't pay), so I mailed a money order for the big $8.00. I recently moved back to the area & my daughter gets an inner ear infection, so I called to set up an appointment with Dr Campbell since we were familiar with her. I called the office and was told that I couldn't set up an appointment due to an unpaid balance and that I had to speak with Angela in billing. I asked if I could at least just schedule the appointment to secure a visit to the since my daughters ear is hurting her, but was told that I could not even set the appointment until I spoke to with Angela and she could let me know if I could schedule an appointment and my daughter could see Dr. Campbell. I called Angela immediately, but she was gone for the day since it was 4:20 and she leaves at 4:00 p.m. Called back on Monday and was told that my account was sent to collections, attorney fees were added and then the account was charged off. So apparently my money order was "lost" somehow and my daughter was not allowed to be a patient of Dr. Campbell again. Since I moved (due to divorce), I did not receive any notification stating there was still an outstanding balance or I would of gladly checked into the money order being cashed or had another one issued. I did not receive a phone call either, so I had no idea what had happened. I'm curious if the Doctors at Associated Pediatrics are aware that if a patient has an unpaid balance of $8.00 and children that they have seen prior are no longer welcome as a patient. My daughter has been to her new pediatrician 7 times in the past year due to her starting Kindergarten and being exposed to all kinds of new germs. I still have two insurances that pay well, so not only my child they lost money over, but the two other single mothers I told about this incident to changed pediatricians also as they were concerned that could happen to them and they did not want to be stuck without a doctor for their daughters. I used to be medical biller previously and if a situation such as this came up, we would simply keep the invoice in office or write it off with any balance that was for such a small about. It was more costly to send it to an attorney so they could add fees over an $8.00 balance! We are talking $8.00, which I'm not understanding why I even have a balance when my daughter has 2 insurances. I have never heard of such ridiculous circumstances in my life! Sad to say, but if a Dr.'s office refuses to see a sick child over an $8.00 unpaid balance from 3 years prior , I'm not sure I want to even take my child back anyway. Again, Dr. Campbell was fantastic; however, even if a doctor is perfect, if they don't have a good office staff or billing, it's not worth the headache as the office is who patients usually have to deal with when something is needed... I was told that this also went on my credit report, and that I could not even bring in another payment. Not the best office procedure I'm thinking... That $8.00 just cost them a whole lot more income!

Sometimes I arrive early and they adjust the schedule so that I can be seen early instead of having to wait until my appointment time. Dr. Rayner listens to my concerns and let's me know my options. I decided against the swine flu vaccine for my child, and although he said it was safe, he respected my wishes and said a prayer over her with me. He is very knowledgeable and is always available for any concerns that I may have. He is gentle with my daughter who is absolutely terrified of the doctor's office. Dr Brown knew my husband and informed him that she was opening her practice and it was a game changer for us saving for us as we had to go to Pulaski and 55th as they were the closest pediatricians accepting our insurance before- a good 20-30 min drive. When I told the team in NICU that she was going to be our pediatricians, all the team told me that we were very lucky cause she was one of the best pediatricians around. And they were damn right about her. My oldest daughter (2 1/2 years old) who use to be scared to go to the doctor is asking TO GO SEE DOCTOR. The practice is super child friendly and Dr Brown is awesome with the kids. The nurse working with her is adorable too and the kids are comfortable with her.
