She made me feel comfortable and relaxed every step of the way, talking me through everything. Dr. Karmali is extremely kind, attentive, gentle, humble, and calming. She went to UW Med School, so extra points for that! Another cool thing is that Swedish uses MyChart, an online personal health record system where you can see your medical history, appointments, messages from your doctor, etc. Strangely, when I called to make an appointment, the receptionist said that Dr. Karmali did not have any openings until January 2015. However, when I went online to MyChart, I saw multiple openings between now and the end of the year. I ended up making an online appointment with Dr. Karmali for early December and cancelling my phone-made appointment with another doctor at Swedish. I am so excited to go see Dr. Karmali again soon!

After my motorcycle accident in 2009 Dr. Karmali checked up on me and worked with my medical records from Harborview to continue with my pain management care. To this day she still works closely with me on this care and has been very good at keeping an eye out for my health and well being and continues to work with my pain management doctor at Harborview. Dr. Karmali set me up with MyChart (available to all Swedish patients) when I moved back to WA and through that I am able to discuss issues with her without having to make an appointment to go into the clinic (I'm already there enough as it is!) and she is quick to get back to me usually same day but definitely within 24 hours. She even responds on her days off and to me, that is complete dedication and proves just how much she cares about her patients. I have recommended her to a couple of friends and they love her as well. Dr. Karmali is very knowledgeable and caring. If she is unsure of something she will investigate the issue to ensure that you get the best possible care. She is just an amazing doctor and an even more amazing person.

She came off strong and sounded like she knew what she was doing. Yet she overdosed me with a med the first month out, I am blind and she changed my meds dosage and did not tell me. She was asked the first visit if she could refer me to an oncologist for cancer followup, it took her 8 months and she could not do it, I finally found an oncologist myself and had to beg for her to send the referral, this also happened with diabetes followup, and other referrals, she never once got a referral the first, second or third time asking, and she constantly sent you to the wrong people, I was giving a referral to prostate cancer, I am female and had breast cancer. She refused for months to set up my meds in script talk a reasonable accommodation for blind individuals. Between her and the pharmacist it took 7 months, once it was finally done, the doctor asked me to bring all the meds I finally got after waiting for 7 months to her office, where her nurse stole them, they all disappeared never to be seen again and no one will say what happened, and it has been 7 weeks and I still don't have replacements for those meds. The list of incompetence with this doctor and her staff is so high, I can not recommend her to anyone, or this whole office and staff.

I ended up doing three visits, and during each one she was patient, kind, thorough, and had every attribute I would expect of a good doctor. She's a bit old-school, but I found this approach to be genuinely helpful in her analysis. However, as another recent review stated, she is just completely IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of. I have had billing questions for her and have left her no less than 4 phone messages and multiple emails as well, and have not heard a single word back. When I brought this up to her during an appointment last summer, she mentioned they had a new phone system, and maybe that's understandable for a few weeks--but it's now been over eight months of trying to get a hold of her, and she is completely unresponsive. Unfortunately, even though Dr Golob is a great doctor, I cannot recommend her unless you live next door and can just walk over to get in contact with her.

The receptionist frequently forgets to submit referrals and fills out insurance claims incorrectly making for costly mistakes that the patient has to pay. The receptionist is rude and does not seem to do much work around the office and sighs whenever the doctor needs her to do something. To get referrals to specialists and proper forms submitted to the insurance company, you really have to go into the office and stay there and get confirmation otherwise, the receptionist starts the process and somehow loses your paperwork. But Dr. Choudhary and her medical staff are very friendly, patient and dedicated and give patients the time and attention needed. With that being said, your visit will be long since the doctor is spending a lot of time with all of her patients.

She told me that I needed to see a nutrition counselor and lose weight. I have overall healthy eating habits and work out 5-6 times per week, so it didn't make sense to me that I would have this type of weight gain or chronic heartburn. I got a second opinion and discovered that I have the worst case of h.pylori she had EVER seen in her entire career. In addition, she dug a little deeper and discovered that my thyroid is very very low functioning. With some appropriate treatment, I'm on the road to recovery. I'm beyond disappointed that Dr. Brusvold chalked my symptoms up to being overweight. It was an easy "diagnosis" and it was wrong and has severely impacted my health and well being.
