On this given Saturday, I spent about half an hour walking through the various greenhouses. There are lots of interesting plants to look at - though many are not labeled - and in one of the building, the plants and flowers were for sale. There is also one area that was just for plants as part of the collection, which were really nicely curated and tended to. The community garden was also exquisite and quite dense. You have to be a member to participate, and you can tell that those who work in the garden know what they're doing. We saw some awesome tomatoes, rainbow chard, sunflowers, dahlias, and more. I can't wait to bring more people here to walk around.

I was planning to get pots and go home and repot them myself. The manager mentioned that they offered a repot service. She let me borrow a wax tray to go and grab my plants, and was able to repot them all before they closed (within an hour). She also pruned the ones that needed to be pruned and gave me plant care tips. 5/5 stars, I will be back. Highly recommend!

The hike to the monument and scenic vista point on the paved road trail (one-way) can take up to 30 minutes if not longer. There is a (sort of short-cut) trail that goes through the woods that has rocky steps and is a rigorous hiking route. It was a nice weather day and a perfect way to work-off the delicious New Haven pizzas we ate beforehand. We enjoyed our visit here while checking out the beautiful scenic views and the monument. I am not giving it full five stars because the park lacked proper direction signage for the trail(s) and as far as I could tell, I did not find any bathrooms or port-o-potty services.

So after hitting the Yale Center for British Art, we speed walked (sped walked?) over to the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library. Why? Google it and you'll understand when you see the pictures. Beinicke is Yale's rare book and manuscript library - not their main university library or their law library. The reading room is open to registered researchers only, but the public are welcome to visit the library's exhibition hall. And everyone visiting New Haven should! The library was built in 1963, and the the architecture is incredible. The building is a granite veneer shell, fastened to a structural steel frame. Inside that structure is a glass-enclosed tower of book cases. The granite was milled to 1.25 inches thick to allow filtered daylight in - in the afternoon/early evening, the marble turned an amber color. We walked back past it at night for a different view of the building. It is really incredible architecture, and the library hosts exhibits you can see in the exhibition hall when you visit to enjoy the building (when we visited, the exhibit was "Taught By the Pen: The World of Islamic Manuscripts"). The building is incredible and definitely worth a visit if you're exploring the Yale campus!

She didn't do basic diagnostics (like scratching the bark to see if the tree is green and alive) before recommending chopping a tree down. Clearly, that's their only true service, chopping down trees. They charge for travel door-to-door if you actually want diagnostics. The poor ratings are true. I do not recommend Northeast Horticultural Services mainly because they are rude and will waste your time because they are too eager to chop down trees and Not care for trees.

Bonus: I referred them to a friend who had tree issues and he was more than happy with his experience with removal and stump grinding.

I was visiting the nutmeg for a wedding a few weeks back when I found myself in New Haven with some friends and some time to kill. We were going to get some food, but figured it was a good time to go and check out the museum before hand. From the second I walked inside this place, I did not expect it to be as big as it was. This place is absolutely massive and stretches across multiple floors and a bunch of different exhibits on each floor. You have large exhibits dedicated to dinosaurs, sea creatures, butterflies, and a ton of extremely old things on display. I definitely spent the most time in the dinosaur room as well as a room full of taxidermy. The taxidermy room had raccoons, bears, large cats, and most importantly, some of the cutest red pandas I've ever seen in my life. I ended up running out of time sadly, but the time I spent here was an absolute blast. Overall, the Peabody Museum of Natural History is such a cool place to spend a few hours. I had a blast checking out all the different exhibits and of course, I had to hit up the gift shop for a magnet and a Yale Peabody shirt. I can't wait to check back in again on my next visit to Connecticut.
