It always seems strange to review a business that I definitely do not want to be customer of, but feel the need to say something about them. A close friend of me and The Doctor's had his dad's memorial here. Marsh Funeral Home itself looks more like a home or restaurant than a place to honor your loved ones passing. Not sure why, but guessing it was due to seeing the gazebo and the fact that is a wood frame building. There is a nice sized parking lot and what looked to be accessible street parking. On initial glance the overall appearance was one of decent looking, clean facility. We got there 30 minutes before the service and saw a separate room set up with food, drinks and coffee for the attendees. The Doctor and I stopped in to get a drink of water and to hang out, but we were unaware that the start time had been moved up 30 minutes. A gentleman with the home saw us in the room and kindly let us know that the service was starting. He was also the initial speaker, calling folks up to speak about our friend's dad. The room was set up nicely, but I will say this is the first time I have seen standing party table in a room. Because the family is Irish Catholic, my first thought was adult beverages were being serve...HAHAHAHAHA! But no, they were not. Guess they had the tables for people to stand around as there was no food or drink allowed in the room. The room was pretty big, guessing it could seat 200 without the tables being in there. The video montage was nice but wasn't sure if that was something the home did or the family, but it looked good all the same. There was a nice speaker and PA system in the room, although some folks did not use the mic, but we could still here them. Marsh also allows you to bring in your own AV equipment. There was a small monitor in the room set up for refreshments with a video on it. I assumed that it was theirs, but after the service, one of the family members came and disconnected it and took it to his car. The bathroom was old, but very clean. That gave away the age of the place, but it looked like was maintained, just needs to be update a bit. While some people may find it weird to write a review on a funeral home, I think this review will be helpful to others during difficult times in a families' life. Marsh Funeral Home overall is a nice looking, clean facility. We attended a funeral of a close family member of mine at this funeral home, and over 250 people showed up. Due to the surprisingly high number of people that showed up, we thought parking would be hard, but luckily the parking lot and surrounding streets were able to fit everyone. Marsh Funeral Home has a nice lounge area and refreshment room. They are nice enough to provide hot, fresh coffee and all the needed supplies like creamer, sugar, cups, and stirrers. The couches in the lounge area are quite comfortable as well. As far as the actual funeral room for viewing of the casket/body, it is a good size. They had setup around 12 rows of 15 chairs for people to sit in. Two TV's are in the room as well if you want to play any videos, photo montages, or music. The 1 problem that we had though was that the DVD player, TV's, and other electrical equipment are a bit outdated. We had multiple videos/photo montages to play during the viewing, but it was a struggle to get everything to play properly without bringing in a lot of our own computer equipment. The room does have a nice speaker and PA system though that you can utilize. The staff at Marsh Funeral Home was respectful and courteous. I don't remember their names, but they did a good job making sure everything went smoothly. I specifically liked how they never rushed the viewing and let us take our time to grieve. They allowed plenty of time for all family/friends to view the casket/body, and gave directions well to the burial site that was only a 7 minute drive away. They even provided these orange funeral tags and told everyone to turn on their emergency blinkers so people would yield to the funeral procession. Overall everything went smoothly and as planned. My family was very grateful for not having to stress over some of the details that the funeral home covers. They were professional and I would recommend them to others in the area. read more

Marsh Funeral Home, specifically Aziz, went above and beyond to handle every detail for what was the hardest day of our family's life. He brought ease to our journey, was incredibly easy to work with, listened, and provided useful advice for items to handle following the service that saved everyone time trying to figure out. He was more than a Funeral Director, he was someone who could read a room, understand how different individuals grieve, could pick up on humor, and knew we were all deeply grieving despite trying to hold back from losing it. We held an unconventional service at the grave site with a small group of people, and he treated the day as if it were a large beautiful wedding, orchestrating the set-up of the chairs, ensuring the Pastor had what he needed, and most importantly, just being there for us. He's the type of guy who if you say 'jump', he'll say, 'how high?' He cares about people through and through - a wonderful individual who somehow has mastered the art of bringing light to a day of darkness. I promise, you will never go wrong in selecting Marsh Funeral Home. Aziz listened first to exactly what we wanted, and gave us just that - no overselling, saying we needed XYZ, and made it very easy on us. I am just overall disappointed. I was not offered any time with my father before the end of his service. Instead I was asked to leave so his wife could have some time alone with him. I think it's extremely insensitive that this situation was handled so poorly. read more
