I was in Madison this summer for a conference and my coworkers were able to get a pontoon boat with driver which was awesome. We catered a cheese platter and brought our own drinks and enjoyed two carefree hours of zipping along the lake. They have a bluetooth speaker so you can listen to your own tunes. We timed it so we were back for sunset on the dock which was just spectacular. read more

Did the kayak thing with some family in town. Easy to do - walked up and made our reservations. The staff were very friendly and helpful, launching you into the water with ease. The kayaks showed some wear - the foot rests weren't always in the best shape (broken, or not adjustable). But we had a delightful paddle. The rates were reasonable. read more

If you are in Madison and want to rent a canoe, kayak or stand up paddle board, this is the place for you. While reservations are not required, on a busy weekend, especially a holiday weekend, it's not a bad idea. Rentals are for the hour, and they provide you with paddles and life vests. Rentals are by the hour. The staff, who are very friendly, will give you suggestions on where to take your rental, and will help you in and out of the water. They also provide water tight containers if you would like to take your phone or keys on the kayak/canoe. And when you are all done, they have a variety of snacks (ice cream, chips, soda, etc) and drinks to purchase if you came unprepared. I'd rate this as a good family experience for everyone when visiting Madison. read more

Wonderful place to rent a pontoon boat on Lake Mendota! We had a great experience, and the staff was incredibly helpful when a storm came in right after we took the boat out, which forced us to turn back to shore. We were pretty bummed about not being able to spend the morning on the water as planned, but when the weather cleared up about an hour later, Marshall Boats called us and asked if we wanted to go out again for a couple of hours. It ended up being a beautiful day, and we had an amazing time cruising around the lake! read more

Lovely business! Reasonable prices, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and a great spot for kayaking, canoeing, or paddle boarding.

I was able to book two people for a one hour paddle board rental each this past Sunday. It was a same day booking which was super convenient. Parking was close by to the rental building. All we had to do was walk up to the building, present the reservation and provide a photo id. The entire team was extremely efficient and courteous. They were able to hold onto our personal belongings, of which we retrieved after paddling. Since we were return paddlers we didn't need much instruction but they were willing to provide if necessary. We got our life vests and oars as instructed then we were pushed off from the landing and paddled away. We returned upon the hour being up and they were there to help us back onto land straight away. They were very polite upon our return, asking us how the experience was and thanking us for our business. This was such a great experience. I cannot wait to come back again! read more

This new location is an awesome extension of their other locations, Wingra Boats and Brittingham Boats. The staff is their greatest asset, friendly and helpful. They stocked up with great equipment for paddling AND pontoon boats. The location on the west end of Mendota provides protection from the prevailing winds, enhancing the paddling experience. I commend Madison Parks for this concession that greatly enhances the enjoyment available in our parks. Finally, their pizza is an unexpected treat I highly recommend. read more

We rented a pontoon boat for 3 hours on a Sunday and had a blast! We had 6 adults and 7 kids and everyone had a great time! There's plenty of room on the boat for everyone to sit. We had a great morning on our brand new pontoon boat. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the boat was terrific. We scooted all over the lake, stopped for a quick swim and had a great time. We hired a SUP paddle board but didn't get the chance to use it whilst we were on the boat, they let us take it and use it from their beach. We rented a pontoon boat for a 2 hour cruise on Lake Mendota. The on-line reservation process was very easy and quick. When we arrived at Marshall Boats all the papers were ready and the check-in process was efficient and easy. The young man who checked us in was very friendly and efficient. We had one passenger in a wheelchair and the Marshall staff person had already planned for us to load at the boat launch pier and he drove the boat to that pier. He had stocked the boat with the life jackets we had requested for adults and children of different ages. Instructions went well and we were quickly on our way. The cruise around the lake was delightful and we drove by homes, picnic point, UW campus, Governor's Mansion, and more. When we returned the Marshall staff person was waiting on the pier and helped us unload. It was a great experience and one we plan to repeat on another beautiful summer evening.
