He had been watching science-related videos, reading books, talking alligators and crocs nonstop. We were planning a mini father son trip and I wasn't sure where to go, when to my surprise I saw that Wis Dells had an alligator place! So we actually headed up there from NW Chicagoland for Alligators first...and boy this did not disappoint. The place was surprisingly very clean and not smelly at all--I had a college roommate who bought an old Used car that had a garter snake in it and he kept it and boy did it smell...so this is no small feat to keep it clean with this many reptiles. It was the first thing we did in Wis Dells and my son was there a good couple of hours (entrance was about $20 for us to visit and then you can buy food to feed -- meat packets were very reasonably priced), and also feed alligators, pythons, snapping turtles, alligator snapping turtles, caimans live mice and/or rats depending what the animals needed that day. Thankfully the owners -- lovely people who have been there nearly 30 years -- feed the live animals we don't have to touch them. I'll admit that left me a little squirmish but my son was in heaven. We were there about 2 hours (most folks I imagine last about 30 mins) and my son was really excited to see the animals -- behind closed glass tanks. They have 14 or so gators in the big tank right as you walk in, have an albino alligator (large one too) in a separate tank behind. Several pythons- including a jumbo yellow scary python and one a little smaller next to it. They have turtles, some smaller snakes, and some toads etc in other cages.... I figured we saw all we could ever see that first 2 hours as it isn't the biggest place, but my son really wanted to go back before we left, so we went back 2 days later and I don't know how we missed it on day 1, but they had a photo opportunity to hold an alligator (its mouth is taped for safety) and that was the thrill of my sons life! He's been telling everyone about that post our visit. Overall it was impressive how clean and not smelly the place is, showing the care the handlers/owners take to these animals. One bit of advice, while they have some very brief blurbs on some (not all) of the animals, I'd recommend adding more complete blurbs in the animals like a traditional zoo would. They also have an opportunity to buy alligators (which presumably is legal in Wisconsin) and that is something I'd never recommend -- Thankfully they aren't cheap so kids likely couldn't do that without a parent being involved:). All in all across 2 visits we were there 3.5 or so hours and my son had the absolute best time of his life. I can't thank them enough and they were super great to him answering his questions, etc (especially since on the second visit they were pretty darn crowded but they gave my so. Extra special treatment :) ). A wonderful experience-- and a reminder of the things we parents do for our kids lol - as Id never be there if it was t for my son, let alone be there twice! We will be back too next time we go to the Dells (I hadn't been to the Dells in over 20 years--first time as an adult, and I hadn't a great time, but this was amongst our biggest highlight of the trip)

The only wine available is Sutter Home. There were some good craft beers though. The server began by asking us if we wanted a salad and then said that the meal comes with salad. Based on the wine selection, I said "no". My boyfriend expressed surprise so I added that it is probably just iceburg lettuce. The server said, "it's a spring mix. It has...iceburg lettuce...and I well...I don't know what else." We both skipped the salad. The only other components to the meal were choice of steak or fish and potato. The fish were all pre-packaged and still in their packaging. Unappealing. The steaks looked ok, but were all wrapped in plastic. You had to unwrap your steak but there were only napkins on a roll to deal with the inevitable steak juice you got all over your hands. The steaks were decent but not great. When our steaks were done, we went to get potatoes and there weren't any. When asked, they said there would be more in about 5 minutes. After sitting and waiting with just a steak, they finally brought out 5 baked potatoes and there were 4 people waiting. The potato bar was sad. The had butter in pre-wrapped pats and the sour cream that comes in individual plastic cup packaging. Nothing else. No chives, no fresh-cracked pepper, nothing. My potato was not done so I couldn't eat it. I basically had a steak for dinner. Nothing else. The restaurant itself has potential as it is right on the river, but it was gross. The ceiling tiles were all water stained (see photo) and there was a full bus-bin sitting right next to our table the entire time we were there (see photo). There wasn't any music and the acoustics allowed for you to hear everyone else's conversation. The table next to us chose to spend the entire time talking about surgery, which is rather unappealing when you're eating a steak. No one checked on us. No one asked how everything was until we were paying. My boyfriend said, "not very good" and the employee's response was, "was there a birthday?" What? No apology. No inquiry. Nothing. Overall a horrible experience.

They have provided dock modifications as needed over the years for our changing water craft needs; ex: last year they crafted an amazing custom kayak shore station so that I can enter and exit my kayak safely enabling me to continue kayaking now in my older years. This model of dock doesn't show up on the manufacturer's website anymore and while it did appear they might have the parts I needed, there was no photo of them to go by. Neil found me his last two of this discontinued bracket in the back room and sold them to me for about 2/3 the online price (if those even were the correct ones). I don't write reviews often, but I feel families considering this dealership deserve to know what…read morewe went through. We had been in discussions with this dealership to trade in our used bass boat (motor and trailer included, fully operable). After going back and forth remotely on trade-in value -- sharing photos they raised no questions or concerns about -- we agreed on a price. We then visited the dealership twice in person to make sure the boat and the deal were the right fit for our family. On what was supposed to be our final visit to close the deal, we signed an agreement based on the value we'd settled on and filled out a credit application to finance the remaining balance. The dealership ran a hard credit pull that same evening. Only afterward did we find out the deal wouldn't actually close that day -- we'd need to make the long drive back out a second time, despite the dealership knowing how far we'd already traveled to get this done. The next morning, we learned our boat's value had been cut by more than half. Their inspection nitpicked ordinary wear on a 20-year-old boat to justify gutting the trade-in price -- after they'd already seen the photos, already had our signatures, and already pulled our credit. To be clear about the order of events: they ran our credit after we signed based on one agreed number, then tried to push us into financing significantly more after the fact. That's not a legitimate inspection process -- that's a bait-and-switch. When we raised concerns, the sales manager was dismissive, with the kind of sleazy, high-pressure sales attitude that confirmed we'd made the right call walking away. The GM tried to get ahold of the situation but you could tell he didn't want to deal with this headache on a Friday. Lessons learned: get every valuation in writing, don't sign anything until the trade-in number is truly final, and don't let anyone pull your credit until you're sure the deal is real. We won't be buying our next boat here, and I'd encourage other families to think carefully before doing business with this dealership.
