So I should stress first and foremost that I was not shopping here myself but was mainly along to keep a friend company while they were looking for a few last minute items to give as a gift to someone in their office. I always try to be available to a friend in need and I also like visiting places that I've never been to before. Having never been in this location I felt that I should check it out. The location of this particular Marshalls was a movie theater many, many years ago. After poking a couple of friends about the theater name I was reminded that it was The Oriental. Now the store is sizable based on the observation but also very, very chaotic. On one side I saw racks and racks of shoes while on the other was what felt like a mile of shirts, pants and other related clothing. It felt like you would need a bit of time to actually find something you were looking for and when I asked a staff about possible band or comic book shirts they simply pointed to the section instead of telling me where they might be. I didn't have the time to do an archeological dig. Towards the back were assorted chochkies for decoration and even pots, pans and the like. Segmented sections for sure but very unkempt and difficult to find anything unless you took some time. When the time came to make the purchases, I was shocked to see just how long the line was to exit. They essentially line you into a row with shelves on either side to spark those last minute impulse purchases. The people in front of us had two small children with them who were trying to get their parents to buy every single thing that they passed by. It was amusing for sure but they didn't convince their folks of the need for these things. I don't like posting less than flattering Yelps but this place does need to get itself in order a little more. I'm not from this section of Brooklyn so I don't even know if I will get back there but if you are a resident you might want to make suggests that they make it a worthwhile shopping experience as otherwise people are just going to go to Amazon. read more

This Marshall's is small and sometimes very disorganized and chaotic but I think there's a beauty to chaos. Especially when I find something good. I usually come 2-3 times per month in the early hours or after work to see if they've restocked on anything worth while (like that one time I saw a five pc estee lauder set selling for $99!). If yes, I always double and triple check because customers could be disrespectful - not only do they open the product but they use it directly on their skin or face or wherever the product states it should go (please double check all lip products cause I kid you not, some people use them) Do I think they could do better quality control over situations like that? Absolutely, but I don't fault them. Some customers are unkind :/ Anyways, go after a restocked weekday and sometimes you'll see some nice things! Their most recent is the glow recipe dew drops & they usually have an assortment of philosophy body wash if that's your thing! read more

Zero stars. The award for the most unorganized and depressing Marshalls goes to this very location. I was searching for a particular item I saw at another Marshalls but unfortunately, it was damaged. It was an adorable Halloween home decoration figurine. Found myself on 86th Street and decided to take a crosstown bus here. Huge mistake. This Marshalls wins the prize for a store closely resembling the aftermath of a tsunami, earthquake, tornado or hurricane. Take your pick. Unorganized. Unappealing. Unbelievably messy. Disgusting layout with staff who were either rude or don't help. Jam packed with customers pushing through the aisles. Ugh. I could probably find a needle in a haystack compared to anything I think I might need at this Marshalls. Then again, the merchandise is crap. Stay far away. P.S. I sympathize with anyone who regularly shop here. read more

This Marshalls location is consistently disorganized, but what's even more frustrating is the staff's behavior. On one visit, employees were loudly complaining about "people and their body odor" within earshot of customers -- completely unprofessional. More recently, I couldn't even browse the dress racks because two employees had carts blocking both ends of the aisle and made no effort to move or acknowledge customers. While waiting in line to return an item (which is the same line used for purchases), a worker walked by, spotted a customer ahead of me, and said, "Why are you on line? Come here," and pulled her out of line. When I asked if I could also be helped, the employee responded, "I don't do returns." I'm not sure who's managing this store, but someone with real leadership and customer service experience needs to step in and completely revamp the staff operations and store layout. Average Marshall's department store in what used to be a movie theater. Dropped by on a Friday afternoon while in the neighborhood. The place was packed with shoppers and carts blocking the aisles. Long lines at the registers despite the numerous cashiers. Felt a little claustrophobic after a while with the low ceiling, shoppers, and over stocking of the store. I don't usually write reviews but this was worth writing one. I made a purchase through their online store for the first time ever. It was the peace out pimple patches with serum. It was an affordable price but once it arrived the ORIGINAL package was already opened. ALSO once you open the plastic wrap it was in this rancid smell leaked from the bag. It was like something died at the facility and vacuumed the air into this bag. Anyways back on track since the product was OPENED I decided to return the package. NOPE I went to the store and they said since it was opened they can't accept it. BUT YOU WERE THE ONE WHO SOLD IT THAT WAY?? They said I would have to return the product back to the facility which would cost me $11 shipping that would be taken off my refund. SO l would have to return something I didn't use and still pay for it to be returned. This company DOES NOT care about YOU. They are willing to sell items on "clearance" (WE ALL KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS) but won't own up to their own mistakes. Which is why I won't be a shopper here any longer :) read more

This Marshall's is pretty disorganized and very crowded with people all over you. It's probably not the best scenario with COVID still around especially when people bring all their kids along and they roll all over the floor and sneeze without masks on. The store itself has stuff all over the place, on the floor, and the space is tight. The line is long but they have a staff member helping to move the line along which is good. They did renovate the store as of last year so now the line moves in a manner that make much more sense but it still does not change the fact that this location is super crowded and messy and sometimes not worth the headache. However, there are times when you'll find some hidden runway designer items that are always worth checking out. read more

My husband and I have been coming here for years and TODAY was the first time we've ever gotten a cashier that did not want to wrap a ceramic item we bought. But she didn't even ask us if we wanted it wrapped, after we paid, she just stood there waiting for us to leave, but when she looked at me I said " aren't you going to wrap that? She said "it's big and I can't wrap it." The service here sucks! And it will never change. read more

They have been around for years, but I have never had much luck finding anything good here. .... Their clothing is severely outdated and there is little selection for anything good. ... I decided to stop in today, and I was very lucky to find a parking spot directly in front of the store. I walked right in and noticed that the store was packed. Marshall's 86st is permitting 213 patron's in at one time. In my opinion this is 100 more than necessary. It was a tight rope walk moving around with the narrow aisles packed with shoppers. There weren't that many bargains either. I managed to find a few items that I liked and then proceeded to the check out. The line was very long, and patrons were not maintaining the six foot spread. The inside of this store looks like the aftermath of a tornado... Clothes scattered everywhere, opened food, dirty floors... seems like a post-apocalyptic tragedy where everything is ruined.. Half the stuff here are already opened and used, I even brought a cologne that was half used. And don't even get me started on the staff. This store has some of the worst staff I have ever had to deal with, especially this fair skinned woman named Melissa. I always dread having to see her face when I come here and she has a really patronizing attitude. The lines here are so long that they stretch all the WAY to the very end of the store and I'm not even exaggerating. And guess what the staff are doing while people are waiting. They're talking, chatting, laughing, and just wandering around aimlessly. People have lives and they need to do their shopping and leave. They don't have to wait all day for you. I hope they learn this fact and stop wasting people's time and also learn some manners too because most of the staff here clearly don't have any. read more

This location was one of my favorite stores until tonight. They need to be better trained at their next customer service course. We are at the line to pay for our purchase about 15 minutes before closing and there is only one cashier open, she has 2 people making separate purchases as I am waiting to be called 2 employees jump the line to purchase their items dismissing the fact that there is a line. There's spilled shampoo on the floor which made walking very slippery and dangerous. The lines are always long and moves very slow -- Seriously. All. The. Time. You Spend 30mins shopping and an equivalent amount of time or more standing in line as it loops around. What I found most upsetting was that they'll have 7 light up registers which generally indicates how many OPEN registers they have. By far the most disorganized / poorly run Marshall's I've ever been to. A lot of other reviewers have previously mentioned the lines, which often stretch all the way across the store - what an atrocious customer service? It doesn't help that whenever the line gets a bit shorter they cut down the number of cashiers, thereby keeping the wait time up. Last Sunday line back to end of store ..... could take 45 mins to 1 hour to get served. 5 or 6 registers working and most staff work at the pace of a snail. A least twice as many open cashiers are necessary please? Marshall's please remember customers time is precious...... we don't want to waste it standing in your store for excessive wait times?
