CJ (the owner) came personally to look around and give us an estimate for branches to be cut back, dead wood removed and one big tree cut down. I hired them immediately after meeting CJ. Sometimes you just get that feeling that this is the right company and that's how we felt. CJ was upfront, honest, genuine, easy to understand and the proposal was written so well that we had no reason not to hire them. Laurie is the one who calls with the details etc... When they are coming, ways to pay etc... She was absolutely amazing. Another down to earth, genuine, caring, competent person working there. Laurie has such a calming presence and is always willing to explain anything or go over any questions. The actual job was top notch! They had a decent size crew here and the crew was nice and easy to talk to. They showed up exactly on time and communication throughout has been stellar! They cleaned up incredibly...yard looked great when they were done! There were a couple of branches they missed (it happens!) and I very lightly mentioned it to Laurie. CJ called me immediately and offered on his own, to come back out. Most disgusting company and company owner I've ever met. Price was twice that of other reputable local companies. Promptly and politely declined their offer. Company continues to spam me w/ calls and text messages over a year after asking them to go away. Hire one of the many reputable tree services you see all over town. The company I hired talked for about an hour on all the horror stories they've seen and heard about both the owner and the company's work. Amazing! It's been a long time since I was truly satisfied with a service and Martel was more than excellent. He showed up the same day I asked for a quote, came back to do a walk through with me later and made sure I was satisfied with the quote, and scheduled service for the very next day. I had more than a dozen trees to be removed. One was a huge old oak, and 5 others were leaning over my roof directly behind my house. This was not an easy job. I am absolutely blown away at the fast and amazing job done by Martel Crane Service & Tree Removal today. I called yesterday because we had an overgrown tree that randomly decided to produce a zillion berries (turns out they were tiny black cherries) and they were staining everything, ruining our outdoor area. What you see here is what I have been cleaning up EVERY DAY for over a week. The dogs track them into the house, it stains our tile floor, stained our outdoor furniture, dog beds, fence, Tom's car, you name it. I called yesterday, they came to the house to give me an estimate within 30 mins, a team arrived at 8am today and they were done and gone within 40 minutes. Mind blown. We used Martel for tree removal. They knocked down our outdoor lawn light, knocked over the mailbox, tore out 9 of 10 bushes with the claw when cleaning debris, left a lot of debris everywhere, chewed the heck out of the lawn with the claw, and the heavy truck totally missed the plywood pieces meant to protect the driveway. That alone will cost thousands to be replaced, as the edges of the driveway are crumbled. Lucky me - I was given a $200 discount on a $7500 job, to cover the lost bushes. Those will cost more than that to replace also. read more

Called Martel for an estimate to trim back some trees. The person who came out told me it would be about 2 weeks. After 3 weeks and not hearing anything I almost hired someone else. Then I got a call that they were coming the next day. Luckily I was going to be home. The gentleman that did the work was very friendly and knowledgeable about the work. He wanted me to look at what he did to be sure I was satisfied. So in the end I'm glad I waited for them, but they really need to be more in touch with people relative to scheduling. Wow. They are here now and lifted an 80' pine tree up and over to the road and are feeding the entire tree into a giant chipper. I asked them to leave the chips for me for my garden and they were happy to do that. I have had other trees removed in the past and those companies cut the branches off which created a mess which they mostly cleaned up. Since Martel brought the tree over to the road and are working there, they have brooms and leaf blowers to clean the road. The people I spoke with were very polite and very good about scheduling and timeframes. I will definitely use them again! read more

Contacted Martel in late April for an estimate to have one very dead tree, and one unsafe for anyone to be in the backyard, removed ASAP. I explained the urgency and upon request for estimate, we planned for someone to come out (while I wasn't home) which was all completed within 24 hours of my call. I was told the work would be done within 3 weeks. In early June I called to ask the status and was told another 3 weeks. I have literally never heard from these people again. I unfortunately was disappointed with the work they recently did. I hadn't called other places or read their contract before I signed, which were my mistakes. The estimate seemed a little vague and expensive, but again I should've shopped around. However I didn't appreciate them knocking on the front door at odd times of the day, leaving a tree stump that was well over the quoted 12 inches high while insisting they didn't have a choice, and having their mother chase me for a final check. read more

They did a great job removing our trees as well as my neighbors who also used them. We were especially impressed by their clean up. I was expecting a mess of the ground where the trees were removed but their guys got all the branches and limbs off the ground, no clean up for us at all. We recently hired Martel to remove a large double pine tree from our side yard and were very pleased. We used Martel for tree removal this summer. We had an excellent experience. Two of the trees we had removed were 110 foot tall Pine trees that were dying, definite hazard trees. One of the hazard trees was touching a barn on our property. The crane operator was able to position the crane and perform the removal and rigging work of the two hazard trees in very tight conditions without damaging any property. The third tree we had removed was an enormous Oak tree with multiple trunks, a huge canopy, and adjacent to our pool. This was a huge rigging and craning effort all done very efficiently. The team on site was very professional and efficient, the whole process was much better than I could have expected. Once the work was complete, the site was raked and leaf blown clean. I am very happy and impressed with the quality of work, the knowledge, and skill of the team. I would not hesitate to recommend Martel to anyone. read more
