Residents include the original Native Americans of Tampa, Cuban Pirates, Slaves, confederate soldiers and of course the pioneer families that built this city including the first mayor, the first lawyer, the Ybor family, the Kennedy family and many other well known names. A famous grave included in this cemetery is a very inspiring story. At the time of burial it was a very controversial story. A grave site that has made national attention! Here lies William Ashley and Nancy Ashley. A city leader and slave owner buried with the servant he fell in love with and shared a home with. In the end he insisted they were buried together where they could finally be together free from judgement. In 1873 this was unheard of. The inscription is "Here lies Wm. Ashley and Nancy Ashley, Master, and Servant,Faithful to each other in that relation in life, in death they are not separated. Stranger consider and be wiser, In the Grave all human distinction,of race or caste, mingle together In one common dust.To commemorate their fidelity to each other this stone was erected by their Executor. John Jackson, 1873." Visit this cemetery get to know the people who built this great city!

Have you ever been to a wake with a full bar? Our loved one would have LOVED it…read more The employees as well as the Bartenders they hired at Blount & Curry made it possible. The immediate family put a lot of work and thought into the arrangements. The execution was placed in trusted hands. The wall to wall live images were stunning. I didn't believe it was possible to make such a heartbreaking event so beautiful. Thank you!

It HAD NOT been filed with the SS office, the lady was shocked, after having had a year to do so. THIS was the funeral home's duty, Adam W! In 2023, I left the hospital a few hours after my son passed, in no shape to drive. My X is a bully: my son lived with me by choice, yet I was given no say. I wanted a memorial, as my son's friends loved him. X railroaded through to do things his way, insisting he put out the least amount of money he could. I would have gladly paid it all for a memorial and tried to do so at a more local business. We signed the exact same contract with the funeral home, each paying half for cremation, ( I guess, but rereading it, I wonder!) with 4 hours divided visitation. X was allowed to decorate the room, bring his sister and current wife, neither of whom knew my son! Adam Wojciechowski, BC rep, brutally insisted I could bring no one; I was barely allowed a driver. He was just another bully, making a horrible time worse. I am sure X spoke negatively about me, but that should not have mattered at all! We signed the same contract. The decorated room was there, my son in it, and I had NO SUPPORT. While X is exmilitary/now civil service, that should not have mattered. This place prob. caters to the military, but Adam et al treated my son and me with no respect at all. TRUTH. I don't even give them one star really.
