I was so inspired by Marti when I started her yoga class. Her patience teaching me to love yoga again has propelled me to do classes faithfully, now a year later, sometimes three times a week. I learned to breathe properly so that my breath became a tool to use to stretch my body comfortably. I see and feel the difference remembering many of her lessons learned in the fundamentals of yoga. Frankly, I was turned off to yoga. I had been in a long term relationship with a yoga instructor and I used meditation and breathing just to navigate being yelled at for not transcending already or achieving perfect chakra levels. If there were jumper cables that could shock my system or an acai Bowl of answers to the universe, I was looking for them. Marti, you taught this old dog to play again. My heart felt really light. She welcomed me into the space and all the pressure was gone. Late. This review is super late. But just like I told my professors in college, it wasn't my fault. I blame the economy. Amazing. Marti is simply amazing at what she does. The moment I walked in, she made me feel unbelievably comfortable and excited. Which is amazing since I have never done reiki before nor was I terribly open to the idea. I'm lucky to have known Marti for nearly 3 years, and have always been drawn to her genuine and loving acceptance. Marti is exceptional at her craft. She first subbed for a yoga instructor at my CrossFit gym and she brought a refreshing practice into my life. In fact, many of us "regulars" commented that we could benefit from a long term balance of traditional vinyasa yoga alongside Marti's mindfulness yoga. If you arrived to her Yelp page then you've done some good research already. :) I'll get right to it! I was going through a rough time in my life a few months ago. Career, relationship, health scares, etc. I was someone you didn't really want to be around and I didn't want anyone around. So much of my life was up in the air and I was not in control. Overall a complete mess, leaving me distraught and I started to develop severe anxiety and panic attacks (You know...when it rains, it pours kinda story). It was awful. Since I don't think a pill is a long term answer, I looked into Reiki. I had seen a Reiki healer the week before, but something about that healer didn't feel genuine and thankfully I listened to my intuition. Then I met Marti...and never looked back. I'm not sure how I got so lucky to meet her. She has such a beautiful spirit and loving way to make you feel extra comfortable and calm - all even before starting a session. The session itself is not something I can fully describe... it's an experience filled with a lot of emotion and the energy in the room remains after as well. I'm a true believer in everything happening for a reason and the perfect timing of my session with Marti couldn't have happened at a better moment. i first experienced marti's magic when she subbed for the yoga class at my gym. she led the group through an incredibly peaceful practice unlike anything i had experienced. i contacted marti to set up a private reiki session completely unsure (and admittedly slightly nervous!) about what it would be. i arrived at marti's studio which was beautifully lit with candles and a mellow welcoming atmosphere. she even has a "healing fish" that is part of her studio. we sat together and spoke for awhile about my reasons for wanting to try reiki and more. then we moved into the session which is truly difficult to describe. it was transcendent and floaty and heart warming and soulful. marti really does have magic in her heart and hands. at one point she helped me stand up and just embraced me. i burst into tears it was emotionally overwhelming. i have found myself using some of her breathing techniques when trying to be mindful or to fall asleep and am so excited to go back next month to see her again. she is wonderful!! read more

To say I was skeptical about reiki would be an understatement. But after feeling completely overwhelmed, exhausted and generally overloaded by life I decided to give it a try. The whole experience was unique and soothing. Marti just has that kind of face and personality that makes you want to open up to her and I found myself pouring out all of the frustrations I've been bottling up. The reiki was like a guided meditation. I struggle to relax and switch off but I quickly found myself in my own little world and before I knew it I was being gently guided to stand in front of a mirror where I opened my eyes and saw someone who was a bit broken...but that was ok because it was acceptable to be that way and you don't have to be strong all of the time. Marti is truly God sent. I'd been harboring a lot of stress from having to do so much work that is not related towards my career. That coupled with regular day to day stress had turned me into a ball of anxiety. I'd been seeing so many posts about Marti's Reiki sessions and while really nervous about the whole experience, I decided to reach out to her. I am so glad I did. The minute she greets you in her studio you are immediately struck by a wave of peaceful energy. I felt so instantaneously comfortable and right away I began to unload. The actual experience is hard to describe, but more than anything it feels as if you are transported into another sphere. One where you are able to release everything and really connect to yourself and the world around you. It was truly magical. I left being able to breathe better and feeling stronger. The next day I had the most wonderful message sent to me. I woke up and did some meditation that Marti had taught me to do. I went to my kitchen to make breakfast and right on my fridge I saw a bright green praying mantis on the side panel. I had never seen one before in my life so I was initially surprised. I noticed that he/she wasn't moving so I knew it wasn't your typical insect. In looking it up I was flooded by articles about what they symbolize. A few of the words that stuck out to me were: God's presence, patience, stillness, Female warrior energy. I read on about how they are sign and reminder to "be still, go within, meditate, get quiet and reach a place on calm." I definitely reached that place in my session. Marti has a gentle approach to reiki and each time I've gone to her, I have left feeling like I got exactly what I needed that I didn't even know I did. What strikes me the most about her is that she is intuitive- nothing is pre-planned in terms of how she is going to guide you through. She uses her intuition to feel into what you soulfully need and she lets that be her guide, and that makes all the difference. There was one particular meditation that left me feeling so present that I felt like I could actually see air and energy moving around me. It was in my acting class right before I did a scene and it made me so present in the moment, I felt like time was standing still and all I could react to and see was the other person in the scene with me. The first time I met Marti, I instantly and instinctively knew there was something special about her. She has such a warm, kind, beautiful soul that she pours into her clients without barriers. I'd never done anything like this before and was a little nervous (read: skeptical). Still, having been under tremendous stress and heartbreak lately, I was open to learning. I was seeking relief from the weight I've been carrying around and that's exactly what Marti delivered: relief. She creates a safe space for you to talk and share your heart with no judgment, only empathy. Any geeks out there remember when Korra lost her connection to the Avatar lineage and was feeling all hopeless and then realized the power of the Avatars was always right within herself... and then she surpassed the Avatar State and kicked ass? ::pushes nerd glasses back up:: Well, Marti helps you tap into your inner Avatar power. In other words, her words and touch act as an anchor to the world as you travel into the deep, dark, scary parts to find yourself, to find your light, ::ahem:: to find your inner Avatar (sorry, couldn't help it). At a bare minimum, I felt comforted, like I was linked to another spirit to help carry my burden for a while, but what I experienced was far more than comfort. I'm not a Yelper (more of a reader/creeper but never a reviewer), not big on giving my two cents (unless it's asked for), not really much of a participator/team player in general I guess, and yet here I am giving my unsolicited two cents to you fine folks. In fact, I created an account on here for the sole purpose of giving Marti a five-star review. So that should tell you right there how incredible she is. The reviews on here are all five-stars, and I don't think I have much new to add to the mix; Marti is truly great at her craft. I did a private Reiki healing/meditation session with her, and it was fantastic. I was a little wary going in (again, not big on participation), as I'd never had experience with Reiki healing before (and let's be real, it sounds like it could be at least a little painful) but Marti has such a calming, reassuring spirit and presence that any trepidation I had flew right out the window. She gently guided me through the whole process, and I felt invigorated and centered (and yes, maybe just a little emotional) afterwards. I'm generally a little neurotic/anxious/frightened/chaotic in general, so again, that's saying a lot. The session was refreshing, relaxing, eye-opening and healing all at once. To be honest, Marti is such a powerful, genuine, passionate, and compassionate person, that I imagine having coffee with her would be at once refreshing, relaxing, eye-opening and healing. But...it would be a bit weird to pay her to do that with you. Martinis simply amazing. I felt so much better after our session and I highly recommend her to everyone. If you want a chance to really see yourself and connect with who you really are- go see Marti! I feel so much more present lately and grounded. My mind is all over the place but now I can say it has calmed down thanks to Marti! I loved her yoga session so much the first time I took her class I referred her to work at my dads drug and alcohol treatment center. She now works there, changing lives and leaving people with hope in their lives, including mine.
