I've been going to the Wat Thai for years since I was a kid and it's incredible to see how much traffic and growth has occurred in recent years, largely due to a numer of reasons like the food court area and the tourism to Thailand. There is a lot of good food for very reasonable prices. I usually go to pray at the temple and then we head over to the food area. And on weekends, it can be super crowded. You exchange your dollars for tokens as the vendors don't accept cash. There is all the Thai staples like Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and even Thai tea. Do note that parking can also get very crowded on weekends. So I park in the surrounding area. Cheers to the Wat Thai, as I hope there maybe we can be renovations to help with the upkeeping.

Weekend plans: Thai temple food market! First things first, come prepared. Parking is limited on-site, but there's plenty of street parking. And don't forget cash! You'll need it to buy colorful coins, which you then use to exchange for food from the vendors. The market itself is lively, family-friendly, and perfect for grazing your way through a ton of Thai dishes. I thought I had found my go-to at the BBQ stand. The skewers looked and smelled incredible. Instead of coming fresh off the grill, they were pulled from a precooked pile and reheated in a microwave. Our pork belly skewers ended up partially raw. With the long line, we didn't bother going back and tossed the skewers. Flavor-wise, the seasoning and glaze tasted really good! Redemption came in the form of Patong-Ko! Freshly fried dough nuggets that are crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and sinfully good dunked in condensed milk. Sweet, indulgent, and absolutely worth the calories. And if you go, do NOT skip the Crispy Pork Station. The Pad Kra Pao Crispy Pork (#9) is yummy! Definitely one of the best bites of the day. There's also a Thai tea stand to keep you cool while you wander and snack your way through everything. The Thai temple is lovely for exploration and prayers. Come with an open mind, a little patience, and a big appetite. You'll definitely find some gems.

Been seeing this all over social media so I decided to check it out! Once you arrive, you need to exchange your cash into tokens which you then use to pay for food. Was definitely surprised by the quality and how much food you get for the price you pay for. For $40, I was able to get 2 drinks (Thai tea and Thai coffee), 2 entrees (pad Thai; Chinese broccoli and crispy pork belly over rice), 4 pork belly skewers, and mango sticky rice. Overall, was amazed by the experience and food here!

Got super lucky today and found parking on the same block of the temple. This Thai food hall is the best! Food is super authentic and nothing more than 10 bucks. Where can you get Thai ice tea for 3 bucks in this day and age. Food is Thai spicy so be prepared when they ask. Everything I got was freshly made so be patient with the wait time. Everyone is super friendly and it was nice to eat el Fresca

Occasionally my family and I will visit the temple to pray and eat afterward. They only have food stalls on the weekend. Parking lot is limited and it is busy on the weekend. Security guard is present to help with traffic in the parking lot. Be sure to exchange cash for colorful coins. You pay for food with the coins, not your own money. If you have left over coins just go back to the booth and exchange back for cash. I normally stop by for the drink stall, you can't miss it. There's only 1 drink stall. I also pick up some desserts. I normally get fried bananas, friend potato balls, and mango with sticky rice. In terms of food I normally get Moo Ping sticks with sticky rice. I've tried food at these stalls and I find them just alright. I normally head to Thai Town for the flavors I like. During summer or on a hot day it is unbearable for me, even with seatings with shade. Be sure to stop by on the weekend if you want food!

Wow wow wow! This place was SO fun! They had a PLETHORA of different vendors to choose from! You start by exchanging your cash for tokens & then going around and exchanging your tokens for food! Whoever came up with that idea is a genius. It made the experience even more fun! My husband and I started by walking around the whole market and looking at what each and every vendor had to offer before deciding what to try. No questions asked, get the crispy garlic pork!! It was 1000/10 delicious, so much flavor! Everything here was pretty cheap tbh for the quality of the food & how good it was! I can't remember exactly how much cash we brought, but it ranged from $20-$30 and we got SO much food for 2 people to share! It truly felt like we were in a different country. The ambiance is so lively. You're surrounded by vendors, people coming to visit, and all the smells of the yummy foods! Parking can be hit or miss. We got lucky at the time we arrived and got legit the LAST spot available in their parking lot. I believe there is street parking if you're lucky to find one & other lots across the street. Once you're done eating you can head over to the actual temple itself and check it out as well!

still such a great spot that i wish i was closer to so i could go every weekend! their $3 drinks reel me in and i just love the whole experience. got the usuals but decided to try something new today ~ the tom yum noodle from one heng heng 88. this honestly was one of the best items i've tried here and it was still piping hot when we got home, and so filling. the taste was great and the mild was just perfect spice for me. craving it again already :) this visit was a lot busier than usual so we had to wait a long time for parking which we don't mind since it's worth it. appreciate that they always have people to help guide with parking though so you're not looping around and around the small lot and you get parked in order of arrival. the wait times for some booths were also longer than usual which again, not much of a problem for us, but others were irritated so just be mindful before you order from spots w longer lines

Came here over the weekend. Park on the streets in the residential zone. In order to purchase food you have to convert your cash into tokens that they give you. The food is delicious and incredibly affordable! Most of the meals go for $8, which in this economy is unheard of. They do get very busy, so be prepared to wait a bit. The vendors are really kind. Definitely recommend! How lucky are we to be able to live in a place where you can experience and learn about different cultures?!

There's limited parking at this Thai market, so I recommend arriving early. I loved how efficient everything was, you go straight to a booth to exchange cash for coins, which you then use to purchase your food. I headed straight to the Thai tea booth since I'd been craving it all day. It was so creamy and delicious! The Thai tea was $3, and the Thai iced coffee was also $3. It was sprinkling a bit today, but no worries there's a covered patio with tables where you can sit and enjoy your food. We also ordered the mango sticky rice for $8. The rice had the perfect balance of sweet and salty, and the mangoes were perfectly ripe. I got the chicken khao soi, which was perfect for the chilly weather. I expected the soup base to be a bit thicker, but it was still very flavorful and comforting. We also ordered some skewers. Some were $1 each, and the kidney and heart skewers were 3 for $5. My personal favorite was the potato balls! I recommend eating them right away because they get hard once they cool down. Overall, this market is definitely worth experiencing, and I would absolutely come back again.

Please ignore the atrocious picture because this was truly an incredible food spot. Several vendors selling a variety of Thai specialties and feels like a street food scene. You need cash that you convert to these colorful tokens to purchase the food. It was one of those times you get sad that you only have one stomach because there were so many dishes I'll have to try another time

If you want try authentic Thai food and culture, you must check this place out when you visit LA. I have been coming here for years, every time I visit LA during the weekend I will try my best to go. It's a whole vibe and experience. You need cash to exchange to coin and buy food at different vendors. Each vendor has their own specialty from savory to sweet. The price is so affordable yet the food taste so authentic and amazing. I spent around $65 on my last visit and was able to try at least 6-7 different items like: Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Crying Tiger Steak, Pork Jowl, Coconut Icecream and a few type of Thai's cakes. The wait time is vary depending on how popular each stall is but on average is from 5 to 20 minutes. All the vendors and staffs here were extremely friendly, always smiling and so kind. Since this is a temple you can also check out their architecture and Buddah statues if you interested!

This is a great spot - a beautiful active temple and Thai food vendors on weekends, somewhat transports you to Thailand for a little bit. The food prices are reasonable and I really enjoyed my papaya salad and the skewers! Definitely recommend checking out if you haven't already!

Wat Thai is a beautiful temple. I walked up the stairs, took off my shoes, and walked inside. There are two entrances. One in the front and one to the side. Because they have both doors open, it was comfortable inside with a breeze blowing through. The monks in their orange clothing were seated to the right, giving blessings. At the far back is where a beautiful Buddha statue sits for prayers. After exiting the temple, I walked the grounds a little where a couple other Buddha statues are housed. To the side of a tree is the Buddha statue graveyard where they keep broken statues. Afterwards, I grabbed lunch in the parking lot where they have picnic benches and Thai food vendors every weekend. If you've read the other reviews, you know you purchase food with tokens. You can't miss the token booth located between the two line of vendors. I purchased the $8 Pad Thai from one vendor and an iced coffee from another. From what I could tell, it looked like there was just one drink vendor. All the prices are advertised, so I knew how much in tokens I needed to purchase beforehand. The food took a little while. I ate it at one of the picnic benches. They have it set up where water mists around the tables. It's an experience. They have a limited parking lot. I was able to find free street parking nearby.

It is with great gratitude and respect that I write this review of Lake Shrine because I found it…read moreto be the best free experience that the Los Angeles Basin has to offer and this is not an exaggeration, nor is commentary sponsored by ad funds. I am feeling pure and substantial admiration and thus I will try to convey it on to page in hopes of celebrating the gift of serenity this place offered me without asking for anything in return, from me. The serenity that this place induced within me, so quickly and firmly, was so strong that I dared to think of scenarios that would challenge it. Meaning I was so in peace in the Lake Shrine grounds, that I wondered what would disturb this seemingly unshakable peace? And my mind went to a dark place. I will eventually know the heart-woe of being an orphan and I wondered if my biggest grief would be lessened in this environment. I know that this was a quirky maybe even macabre way of describing the grandiose peace of this place but I wanted to be honest to the experience because the serenity offered by this place was extreme and unique because I had never felt something quite like it. Thus the question becomes: How did this place achieve this new sense of peace/serenity within me? First, the ground themselves were tranquility in soft, barely moving stillness. As soon as I was walking down the 100 or so steps to get to the bottom of this sunlit, open-air cathedral I felt the calming colors of nature all around me, plus the absence of city sounds. Like the freeway was near the Shrine. And I could hear it. But the traffic was not a reminder of a city near, it was more like rumors of cities that were somewhere in the horizon but not near because the stress of these distant cities and their bills and heinous crime did not belong amongst the quietly pulsating, encompassing peace. As I walked the grounds, I saw koi fish and a swan swimming amongst its central lake that was clear as I hoped my mind would be while engaging in the meditative practices that this placed offer. In fact, in one of the videos I clipped I followed a white koi with my video camera. As it swam in the water that was not hit by sunlight the fish was white. As it continued to swim to the part of the lake that had water hit by sun, the koi fish turned a little bit green, like a turqouise shade. And I thought about why the fish would turn green, just slighthly? And that is is where I understood that the clear blue water and the yellow sunlight came together to make green. In fact, the play of light across the grounds was one of the reasons why I loved! this place. I took a picture of a tree drenched with sunlight. But to my eye, the tree did not get covered with sunlight, it was more adorned in sunlight. Like the green was present and the yellow light was present, but they did not become one, it was like the skin of a female was covered in golden lace. Take these moments and add the duo of mingling butterflies I spotted, the small but mighty waterfall, and all of the majestic roses around I feel great comfort in describing this place an Eden of curated nature. I was also fortunate enough to arrive at a time where I could wait an hour and attend one of their guided meditations, inside a windmill. And this was an experience that made me feel the power of meditation in full scope. At the end, the guide, asked all of us to say om three times. The first time I joined, the second time I did too, but in the third om I remained quiet. I heard the symphony of om's around me and together they made music that verberated within my skin. I did not feel goosebumps, instead I felt my skin shimmer with waves that come an in-rest mind. The meditation focused on feeling love from the heart and have it encompass us, our neighbors, our family, and all people who claim the world their earth. The words of the guide, the peace of the spot, the sounds that could not be heard but felt, made me feel like I was pulsating with love vibes that were being transmitted from me to all in golden, circular vibes. Like I said when I first started to write this Yelp, I am not exaggerating, those images and feelings came to my mind. What I fear is that I will visit this place a second time and not feel the wonders of my first visit. I mean that is a common situation, people will never feel the same pleasure they first felt, when they heard their favorite song. I asked a working gardener if he ever lost the love for the wondrous garden surrounding him. He said never. I hope he was right. I don't plan to go hear regularly, but enough for the peace to feel needed and true. I also took a tour of the garden with another guide. She described the lotus frame next to the lake as a "wallless temple" which made a lot of sense. I was at a pier not too long ago after my visit. And I was at the pier's edge facing the water and I realized this was also a wallless temple. I hope this Yelp is a peace pulse, too!

The shrine honors many spiritual paths, with plaques and iconography representing different faiths, creating a sense of unity and respect. The lake is filled with huge koi fish, turtles, ducks, and swans, and the surrounding grounds are full of lush trees and colorful flowers. There are many lovely benches where you can sit, meditate, and simply enjoy the serene views. Being here feels incredibly calming and cleansing for the soul. Visitors can meditate inside the houseboat, which adds a very special and intimate experience. If you are spiritually sensitive or simply looking for a quiet, reflective place, this is highly recommended. There are restrooms on site, a small gift shop with items from India, and a small museum sharing the history of the shrine and the fellowship. The area itself is not large -- you can walk around the lake in about 15 minutes -- but it's a place meant to be experienced slowly, with time to pause and truly take it all in. We're already looking forward to our next visit.

I made some last minute add-ons to the initial order and Lotus home was incredibly accomodating. Jana and her team work tirelessly to ensure a most zen and pampering experience. Couples massage: Jen and Jade were beyond professional and relatable. They first sat us down and asked if we'd had massages before, if there were any spots they should avoid or focus on. We had an actual conversation prior to the treatment and their delivery was spot on. I so appreciate how Jen and Jade allowed us to enjoy our massage in silence. And every so often, when I had a comment, they chimed in and laughed with my honey and I! Then back to silent enjoyment. Through the entire massage, I felt they were very present, engaging, professional, and kind. Couples facial: Amanda and Tamara were so knowledgeable and skilled in their craft! Every question that my sweetheart and I had regarding skincare, Amanda and Tamara answered. Personally, it can be a jarring experience for me, having someone work so closely to my face. But Tamara's energy was inviting and safe and she was so gentle! After the facial, Amanda and Tamara checked in with how my sweetheart and I were feeling and gave us privacy to slowly get ready for our next experience. Pool/Hot tub: Is there truly a better way to end the day than to soak in a hot tub with palm trees and cabanas? I think not. Part of the deal was a beverage tray and floating food tray. First, Jana knew that my sweetheart and I don't drink alcohol, so Jana prepared non-alcoholic champagne! This was a special treat for us, as normally, we simply deny the alcohol and swallow the cost (that's already included in the deal). It was incredibly thoughtful of Jana to have something else prepared for us to enjoy. Along with the non-alcoholic champagne, she prepared clarifying mint tea, coffee, and sparkling mineral water. So refreshing as we floated in bliss. Then came the food tray. Oh. My. Droooooool. Tiramisu birthday cake, the biggest raspberry macaron, a quarter pineapple artfully displayed in the shell, crisp green grapes, literally the best turkey/bacon sandwich, and a delectable grilled chicken salad. Y'all, literally every single bite was top-tier. To top off the surprise, turns out Jana is the masterchef behind this amazing spread! Everything she does is done with intention and the client's experience in mind. I was simultaneously blown away and deep in serenity. 10 out of 10 would recommend!
