I've been to the M Lounge s few times over the past three years and it never disappoints! I love the adult crowd, mostly 30 and over, and laid back atmosphere. Was here last night with a friend and while it was not crowded, there were just enough patrons to move around comfortably, and enjoy conversation. It's a long small bar, with seating throughout. A good spot for after dinner drinks and music...definitely a cozy date night spot. read more

Visited M Lounge while in town on business. My new GO TO spot whenever I'm in Chicago! Atmosphere and ambiance just what I was looking for! Great music, great food, awesome service! Awesome place for dessert cocktails. I had the chocolate and banana split martini. Both are delicious. In addition, I went on a Thursday with my wife and enjoyed live jazz music. We were not ignored and the staff came by several times. Would definitely go again. Was the highlight of my Chicago visit. read more

I came here last night for the 2014 Chicago Jazz Tour (which was a first for me: both to the tour and to this place) where Sarah Marie Young was singing and I had a great time!! Albeit the size of the lounge was quite small (& the place was packed, which is a good sign to me!) I was able to get a seat on one of their leather bound cushioned "cubes" chairs, ordered a French Kiss martini (raspberry liqueur, vodka, orange liqueur with a splash of champagne, Mmm so good!) and enjoyed the soulful & soothing vocal stylings of Ms. Sarah Marie Young! Her voice is amazing (it reminds me of the late great Amy Winehouse - if you didn't know that she [AW] sung jazz songs then check her out, it will pleasantly surprise you!) she put a jazzy spin to some of R&B favorite hits like El Debarge's "I Like", Micheal Jackson's "The Way You Make Me Feel", and Etta James' "At Last"; the passionate way she sings and the electric way the band played (the guy on the keyboards was on fire!!) along with the cocktails, decor, and lively crowd made it a wonderful experience in which I'll return with my friends!! read more

My parents really like this place. They drive in from the suburbs every other week to listen to live music. I went along recently and had a great time. It's so hard to find authentic live music in this city. And it's also hard to find a bar where people aren't constantly trying to impress one another. Super chill. Great drinks. Cool crowd. I live in southside so it's always a trek for me to head to lincoln park/lakeview or even the gold coast area for a few drinks on a night when I just want to lay low and catch up with a few friends. I have some friends visiting from out of town so we yelped for lounges and found the M lounge. What a great find! This place has fewer reviews than all your other places but they are good solid ones. I went on a Friday night and it eventually got packed. The space is very intimate, very friendly staff and bartenders. The drinks are deee-licious, try the purple haze martini and the mohitos there! One thing is I think they could spare a little more alcohol in the drinks (expect $10 for a martini). I understand that sweet drinks creep up on you but I know when my martini is missing some alcohol. Oh yea and the bathroom doors don't lock, now someone has to go fix that because I heard two instances of people walking in on someone else on the same night. Besides that, I loved the place. The ambience is classy but laid back. the crowd could be more diversed but I also think it's just a matter of people hearing about the place. It's good to know that there is a good spot in the south side to lounge at. We had a group of over ten and everyone enjoyed themselves. only been once, but great experience. Went on a saturday night - got there around 10, left around 12:30-ish. Very cool crowd, very nice ambience. When I was there, it was a good mix of the 20/30 crowd. The best thing about M lounge? The "MOCKTAIL" menu. Loved it! even though m lounge is my bars competition in the south loop [we were the FIRST martini lounge...8 years ago...cough cough] i have to give this place mad props. the owner is sweet and the bar is named after his wife mary, so how can you not admire that. the staff, especially the waitresses need some refining, but you can get good wine, spirits and bottle service at this small lounge. it has a capacity of 50, so it does get tight and full fast. there is live jazz some nights of the week. the decor is sleek and comfortable on a budget. read more

Martinis! They have great Martinis. I have only been here twice once for my after party b'day celebration and another time on a week night. On a Saturday this place was busy, not so much when I went during the week, in fact it was only one other couple there other than my friends and myself. The place is quaint and cozy. Wasn't there for the live band. No food, which was fine for me but my friends would've liked some finger food at least. Overall, I look forward to returning. read more

I reserved VIP for my birthday on Oct 18. When I arrived it was totally empty. Reginald the owner was very attentive and accommodating to my needs. Saturday evening was my first time at this place. My friend and I went out with the intention of going to another spot, paid the cover, but could not deal with the crowd or the atmosphere and left after only being able to wrestle our way to the bar for one drink. I whipped out my phone and saw that this place was down the street and we decided to give it a try. We were so glad we did! M Lounge is elegant and chic. The staff was amazing and attentive. And the owner makes sure that every customer is taken care of. The prices were perfect and less than you would expect from an upscale lounge. I tried about 4 different martinis and every one was amazing! I plan on making it back there on a regular and can't wait to hear the live music. read more

Nice older AFAM crowd. Drinks are ok. Music on weekends could be better and more of what we are familiar with or some nice jazz. it gets pretty crowded, but it is decent place to chill with friends and watch people. read more

This place is nice on the inside. Not that big, but nice. The drinks are pretty pricey but they are mixed well. Expect to pay $7 for an amstel light and around $12-15 for a good martini. read more

Checked this place out for Tuesday night live jazz...i really appreciated that there was no cover and that they were upfront about a two drink minimum (no one actually said anything but there were discreet signs and also it says on their website). the martinis were a bit expensive but in line with downtown prices...and the tiramisu martini i had was SOOOOOOO good. two people were working the bar, i think one was the owner? but anyways, both were friendly and welcoming without being overbearing. the long rectangular layout was a bit awkward for the performance, but comfy armchairs, so i'll deal. i love that they let you order in food...altho i probably would've felt a bit weird if i was the only one in there with good eats (i would've ordered from the thai place around there and then would've been the one to blame for pungent food aromas filling up the small place). it was a really nice spot to wind down after a day, and am looking forward to coming back. read more

My girlfriend and I have been here a few times now and must say it is a great neighborhood spot. We went for the live music tonight and it was fantastic. We will definitely come back for that again. Even on the weekend nights without the live band this is a nice mellow place to hang out with chill music and atmosphere. I've been to many places who play jazz and this one was clearly the best. The only drawback is they're not close to the suburbs which I prefer. However, the next time I'm in the city you can bet M Lounge will be one of my stops. Everybody there was very friendly. Now if I was tall, dark, handsome and young, that wouldn't mean too much. I have been going to this place for about a year and a half now. First time I'm writing a review on them because I just starting getting into writing reviews and no place deserves a better review than ML. The staff is GREAT! Best Mojitos! Its a beautiful, mature crowd. If you have a group of ladies or even by yourself and don't feel like getting hit on by of pushy, pathetic hoodlums, but rather approached nicely by gentlemen. This is the spot. Its a very romantic, initimate place to go on a first date. And Tuesdays and Wednesdays they have live jazz, with Grade A Class Acts with no cover charge!
