This place is kept spotless and well maintained. Close to shopping and state parks. This is a small cabin for a couple and kids. They allow dogs. We will not go to other cabins in the area.

Because I have been renting a room here for almost 3 months now and the only problems I have had to deal with are ones I have caused or my actions have caused. Other than that I don't mind it here at all. I have talked to the female owner (the wife) those most and I have dealt with her husband a couple times(the other owner). I do not have one negative thing to say about the ownership or how this place is ran. My AC broke the very next day he is replacing it. After he gets off his regular job. so he is always busting ass to keep up on this place so is the wife. They don't deal with bullshit. they had the right to tell me to leave serval times and I wouldn't of been one bit mad at them because from a owners outlook they had every right. Instead she told me what I was doing wrong and to change it that was my warning. (no she didn't have to even give me a warning). I respect them both and I was honestly very surprised by this place. we got a nightly room at first for a few nights then by some miracle a weekly room opened and we got that that. So I have been in two different rooms and I have to say they both were very clean no trash or anything laying around. Everything was set up and ready for the next resident. My first time staying here has definitely changed my mind and opinion of this place. I based my opinion off of what I heard other people saying and I'm glad i didnt let it dictate rather I stayed here or not. This place is a motel yes so no its not the fanciest shindig out there. After I was here for like a week she lowered the price for me. She didn't have to do that. Then the price went lower when i got a weekly room. I'm in a jam and I have been looking for a more permanent place to rent but as long as I'm looking I don't mind to stay at the Lancaster motel ! A+ P.s. Besides that, my nonsmoking room smelled like stale cigarettes, overall, it was a dump. Book here, and you will regret it! Best part of that area is the Pac-Man game with plenty of options for kids and adults. The hot tub is right outside this entrance and it fits 4-5 people comfortably. The lights and jets in the hot tub were great. There is plenty of parking and the parking is right next to the fire pit area. The main level is the best part in my opinion with kitchen, huge seating area around fireplace with tv and dining area. Kitchen has plenty of utensils, plates, and materials you need but the lights are hard to find and the microwave and stove light were not working. TV is equipped with cable and a DVD player which was a nice plus. This area also has a bedroom and bathroom. One con in this area is the configuration with the couches and kitchen- it was hard to get pass some family members so I would suggest moving the couch. This area also leads out onto the wrap around patio- talk about views and relaxing. There is plenty of seating as well as tables. They had corn hole to play out here- light switches and fans are controlled inside. The top level has a seating area, pool table, bunk beds and bedroom/bathroom. The pool table was fun but a little worn down. There was chalk all over it and the rack was broken. Bathrooms were all spacious and well taken care of- the towels were extremely soft which I appreciate. One con for this cabin and why this review is four stars is that the beds are so hard. Everyone struggled to get a good nights rest because the beds were so hard. I think we got use to them and were tired after hiking so that made it easier to sleep. Overall, I would stay at this cabin again and enjoyed my time!

I stayed at the Pine Hill Lodge in Logan, Ohio this past weekend. It was just built in 2011, so I guess people just haven't gotten around to writing up their stays yet. The place was absolutely perfect for our needs. It was easy to book online (yay! no phone calls!), and easy to find. We really appreciated the hassle-free check-in and check-out process. The driveway is steep, but doable without 4WD in the summer (perhaps not in the winter). It's very secluded. We could hear cars on the road and voices at nearby properties, but we couldn't see anyone. The cabin is gorgeous, and the owners have thought of everything you might need. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and cookware and small appliances (toaster, coffee maker, blender). They even provide detergent for the washing machine and dishwasher, roasting sticks for the fire pit, cooking spray for the grill, plenty of firewood, extra extension cord, and flashlights. I did read in the guest book that a few visitors experienced power outages, so maybe that's the reason for the flashlights. I can't comment on how responsive the owners are to maintenance issues because we had zero problems during our stay. We were only there for 2 nights, but we definitely want to go back. I would love to stay longer. I probably won't even bother to look at other lodging options if we ever decide to stay in the Hocking Hills area again.

Whistlestop is located at the end of a dirt road (literally off the beaten trail), so don't be too worried if you wonder if you're going the right way--keep going back the road and it's just over an old rail line. The B&B is the basement of an old farm house and the room is spacious. As Brian mentioned, the room had a queen size bed, couch, working fireplace, pool table, kitchenette, and private bath. The owners, Sherry and Mike, were a delightful couple and we had a chance to peak into their beautifully renovated kitchen and meet their lovable boxer, Lucy. Tons of snacks to pick from, but easily the best were the homemade sticky buns and chocolate chip cookies. Sherry stocked the fridge and pantry with breakfast items for the next day (yogurt, fruit, oatmeal, breakfast bowls). Brian enjoyed a couple rounds of pool while I feasted on several hours of HGTV's "Property Brothers" on the biggest flat-screen TV I've seen in someone's house (60-inch?). The bed was cozy, covered with beautiful colored linens, and I think if you wanted to leave the blinds open, you could wake to a beautiful sunrise amongst the nearby trees. I woke up early Sunday morning to do a bit of reading and enjoy a cup of tea by the fireplace. Perfection. Since we were there in late March, we didn't get to enjoy this amenity, but there is a fire pit so you can make some s'mores (yes, they provide all the fixings for that too). You are just a short drive away from an abundance of gorgeous hiking trails. Being able to enjoy the hot-tub on the porch while being surrounded by forrest sounds and gorgeous views was just the reset we needed. My only true negative was that the mattress was extremely uncomfortable. I do think there are a few minor things that could make this cabin even better. (From a picky convenience point) -the couch is less for lounging and more for sitting up (like a waiting room) a soft ottoman would really improve the ability for couples to cuddle by the fire. -there are no couch side tables to set drinks on -the shower is SMALL (which is to be expected in a tiny cabin) if you added a shower head that can come down it would make it much easier to wash off mud from hiking because maneuvering in that tiny space is nearly impossible. - some sort of shelf/counter space for the bathroom that way if you are staying longer you can keep your necessities stored in there.
