Do not go here. Either her receptionist needs to get fired or she's a terrible Doctor. It's been over a month (nearing 2) since my MRI results were ready and I can't get a call back. My last doctor (from another state) would call or email back and at least say I needed to come in if it was urgent/or needed an appt. This doctor doesn't know how to use the phone or is just wanting to get paid for me to come in for an extra appointment. In the last month I've called over a dozen times. One week I called every single day. I can't get a 5 minute phone call back from the doctor. I got 2 return calls from the receptionist in a month. One time she left a 3 min message say she's didn't "think" it was urgent that I come in because Dr. Minar would've told her that it was urgent and that I should "be ok". The other time she called she said "Dr. Minar didn't come in today" but she would "ask if Dr minar would release the results to her so she could review with me". WHAT?!? REALLY?!? I don't want a second hand guess. I need to know if I need I have a tendon tear and need to schedule appointments and follow up care for a surgery. This office is a joke. Oh an also. When I first walked in to my original appt the receptionist was talking on the phone with (I'm assuming another office or a patient) and Dr Minar was in her office (which is in another room). While on the phone Dr Minar was reading test lab results and shouting them to the receptionist from the other room. So either you get a call back with your labs and other patients waiting in the waiting room here them too or you don't get a call back at all. Either way. Don't go to her. read more

Absolute best Doctor my family has ever been to, and her Office Manager is always a delight to interact with. I've taken both of my teenagers and myself here for a couple years now, and am so grateful that we found her. She always takes the time to address our conditions, I feel like she understands our needs, and has a very soft, non-judging way about her that makes us feel better before we even get our prescriptions. Most important to me is that I don't have to wait weeks to get an appointment, very little wait time when you do get there, and I've even called in on a Friday morning and they've been able to fit me in same day. Horrible office staff and customer service. I had been seeing this Dr for probably more than 20 years, I switched last year to Edinger Medical Group. I would have thought that after I hadn't been in her office for some time, or I need my annual whatever, someone might call........crickets so far. Dr Minar scoffed at symptoms I had regarding the Essure birth control device, I don't think she researched it. Basically told me not to believe the internet. Is there a star that less then 0 because that is what I am scoring her and her staff. The staff in this office are very incompetent. I called to make an appointment, her staff told me that I have never been there, never been seen before, which is CLEARLY WRONG because I had seen Dr. Minar under my PPO insurance. So, I decided to wait a day and then call the next day. I called the second and was told that I was not a patient but I could have an appointment. She asked if I had an ID card with Dr. Minar name on it. I informed her that I had just called my insurance company the day before and changed to Minar but would not have the ID card by the time of the appointment. She said "ok just come on in." I was given an appointment in exactly a week. I went few minutes earlier and had just signed in. Her secretary asked if I had a ID card, I said "I changed to Dr. Minar, but have not received the ID card." Her secretary called Dr. Minar to come to the front. Dr. Minar came and asked me why I did not have my ID cards, I said the same thing "I changed to Dr. Minar, but have not received the ID card." THIS WOMAN ROLLED HER EYES AND SAID "YOU NEED TO BE AN ACTIVE CONSUMER AND DO YOUR PART. ITS NOT MY JOB TO DO THAT FOR YOUR." I could not believe my ears. I re-emphasized again that I had called my insurance changed my doctor and called Greater Newport Physicians and updated my eligibility. I was so upset, I left. I called Greater Newport Physicians and complained, the person put on hold and called Dr. Minar, came back to the line and said "I am sorry there is not much we can do." I was VERY UPSET. I called Dr. Minar's office and told the secretary that "FIRST, you should have made fully aware that an ID card is REQUIRED, not doing so is misleading. SECOND, I am an active consumer and I did do my part (I changed my insurance and updated my eligibility with GNP) . THIRD, you had 1 week to call UHG and verify my eligibility and notified me if there was a problem." The incompetent secretary said "call us back when you have ID cards." I was still UPSET. So, I called her office for the third time and told the secretary that I had filed a complaint with my insurance company and that I was going to put a bad review on Yelp. MIRACULOUSLY, two minutes later, her office called back and said "you can come back to the office and see Dr. Minar." I said to myself "screw you incompetent rude dr. and staff I do not think so." I have worked in healthcare filed for 15 years and know my responsibility very well. I also know incompetency when I see it, and this office is totally incompetent. I had been seeing the same physician since 2000, but recently decided to make a change because my previous physician was in Anaheim (I live in HB), her staff had become increasingly incompetent, and it was becoming difficult to make an appointment with her sooner than 3-4 weeks out. I was referred to Dr. Minar by a trusted, long-time friend. At first, I really liked Dr. Minar. During the visit, she was kind, listened, and seemed to really know her stuff. It's how things have been going since the visit that earned her office a poor grade. Refills were called in to the pharmacy for the medications I am regularly on. I went to pick them up, and one of them was a completely incorrect dose. It was ultimately corrected, but I had to go without it for a couple of days and make another trip to the pharmacy. Then, Dr. Minar had requested some bloodwork, which I was able to have done at the lab downstairs immediately after leaving the appointment (awesome!). A few days later, I received a phone call, not from the doctor, but from her assistant, who started rattling off the results (which were not great) and nonchalantly stating that there was a problem with my liver and I should "go ahead and schedule the ultrasound." An ultrasound was never discussed previously, not to mention I was very taken aback by the whole conversation. I then was able to milk out of her that I was to pick up a "prescription" (her words) for the ultrasound. Went to her office on my next day off and told the assistant I needed to pick up a prescription. She replied, "we don't have them here." "Okay, where do I go to get it?" "The pharmacy." "Which one?" "Which one did we send it to? Okay, let me look it up.... oh, you wanted an ORDER, not a prescription." Even more unnecessary attitude. Had the ultrasound, and the ultrasound tech told me that my physician would have the report in 24 - 48 hours. Now, it's been 14 days since the ultrasound, and, despite repeated calls to her office, I can't get her (or anyone from her office) to call me back with the results. read more

I am frequently out of state or town and she is able to send my scripts to convenient pharmacies so I can pick them up. Her office manager is helpful and always returns my calls when I have questions. Dr. Minar is a sweet and empathetic doctor. She really seems to care about you and doesn't make you feel rushed or unimportant. I like her very much and I believe her standard of care to be pretty exceptional. The reason I have to give her doctor's office three stars is because of issues I've had with the people that work the front desk. It seems like every time I go, there is an administrative mishap that causes me to keep having to return. I have tried to be understanding, but after my visit today I simply can not shake my bad feelings about her office. Today I got my blood drawn and was put off by the fact that the woman drawing my blood didn't bother wearing gloves. I also got a vaccination here on another date, and again she didn't care to wear gloves. I understand these are regular basic procedures and it is unlikely that complications will occur, but serious diseases and microbes can be introduced directly into my blood stream due to the lazy mistake of the administrator being ignorant to the threat that she is causing. I really like Dr. Minar and it is unfortunate that I will have to find a different primary care physician due to the incompetency of her administrative staff. read more

I have to disagree with Natalie P review of Dr. Minar. I have been her patient for over 20 years and I have gone for my WWE exam and had a problem with pain in my back and she has treated me for both. I was never made to choose between being seen for one thing or the other. I don't know who is putting these negative reviews because they are so not true. Dr. Minar is a very caring Doctor. She recently started seeing our sons we adopted from Foster Care and with her advise we got him off the horrible medications they had him on and now he acts just like a normal kid. Tried calling to make an appointment at 11:52am. The phones were already shut off even though their message says they don't go to lunch until noon. If you don't go to lunch until noon and its plainly stated on your message then don't turn the phones off 10 minutes early. I'm not going to go to a doctor when I try to contact during business hours and they've turned the phones off early. read more

I have been going to Mary Minar for 15 years. This office was recommended when I had HMO and didn't have much choice. Now I can make the decision to finally find a better, competent doctors office. It's really hit and miss here. Some days they are on and most they are off. Waiting time is on average 45min but I have waited 1 1/2 hours at times. Recently had my annual check up and the "nurse" took blood and pushed too far in, not only did it hurt like hell, she was only able to get a half a vile to which she said "oh well." What put me over the edge is this was done 11/3/15 and I am still waiting for the results over 3 months later and 4 phone calls made by me to get them. The rep today told me another rep left me a VM yesterday, which was a flat out lie as I have not received one call from this office! Think twice and find another doctors office! read more
