Dr. Josey is the best physician on the planet hands down. I was looking for a new GYN and was so lucky to find her. She was professional, very thorough, caring and easy to talk to. She learned that my husband passed away and we talked as if we were best friends. She was sincerely concerned about me. There was absolutely no wait time and the staff was great. How did I get so lucky?! These days physicians don't really seem to care and don't have any listening skills. I hesitated writing this review because I haven't seen Dr. Josey in years. In fact, I know exactly when I stopped seeing her: January of 2017. But I decided to write this now because I think maybe it will help patients who are looking for a new gyn avoid having to look all over again if they don't like this one for the same reasons I didn't. Okay, here's my experience: I had only gone to Dr. Josey a couple of times. She took my insurance and I didn't have a gyn in the area. So, I was trying her out. But, I was actually planning to stop seeing her and find a new doctor because I found her demeanor unusually cold and brusque for a gyn. But after that visit in early 2017, I think I realized why she was so curt with me. After my exam, she treated me to an uninvited rant about how I have to now get on board with the new political person who just won the presidential election. To me, it felt like (without asking me or knowing anything about me) she sized me up as someone who was not part of her political leanings. And that may have been why she was so cold and curt. I didn't file a complaint because it was just her and me in her exam room (yes, the rant took place in the exam room moments after my exam), so it would have been a "her word against yours" kind of thing. But, I think I understand the extreme mix of reviews she gets here. I think that if she picks up that you're of her mindset or you make that clear, you'll probably like her. If only because she might be a bit friendlier to you. If you probably don't share her opinions, I'd recommend that you continue looking for your right gyn. I did and found an amazing, warm and caring gyn right after Dr. Josey. She retired, unfortunately, or I'd recommend her here. read more

I'm a health conscious individual who works in the fitness & wellness business and have been procrastinating in seeing a new Doctor due to past negative experiences. I know a lot about taking care of me and others, as I do this for a living, but I'm not a Doctor. So...finding the right Doctor is extremely important to me. Don't really understand people who call her unempathetic, cold and uncaring. She is very warm person and a great professional. I don't believe when people say things like: "she made me feel unimportant" or "zero warmth and empathy". She is so caring and kind, takes the time to sit and answer all the questions, cheer up and address all the concerns! I simply don't believe the bad reviews I see here. They probably have to fix their own attitudes. There are just people who are always unhappy and always feel victimized and feel like others don't treat them "as they deserve". I've been her patient for over two years and will continue to be her patient in the future. And I know what I'm talking about - my husband is a physician himself and I wouldn't take low-grade care from anyone. Highly recommend this professional. read more

I have been going to Dr. Josey for a few years now. They took me in fairly quickly as a new patient with a problem. She seems very experienced and knowledgeable. She took the time to really listen to my problem and sat with me to fully explain my labwork results and options. The treatment she prescribed worked really well. I appreciate the she is only a GYN, I am older and do not need an OB. I have been to the larger women centers, they take so long to get in, and you feel like you are just a number there. I saw a few poor reviews that Dr. Josey is not a great physician or that she is not warm and inviting....couldn't be further from the truth. No woman is every super excited to go to the gynecologist, but Dr. Josey makes it a very warm and comfortable experience. Her office is quaint and filled with antique furniture instead of sterile waiting room chairs, her staff is incredibly kind and personable, her appointments are always on time and she takes the time to actually talk to you instead of get you in any out - I feel very cared for and safe in her office and would highly recommend her to anyone. read more

This was my first visit to the office. The staff was friendly and professional. Dr. josey is an excellent doctor. She took great care in her examination and was the most gentle of any Ob/Gyn I have ever been too. I was referred to Dr. Josey by a Co worker, her mother had went to her and enjoyed her visit. I was able to book an appointment with her fairly quickly after having an emergency and I really appreciated it. My visit with Dr. Josey, herself, was great. She was helpful and answered my questions. However, her front office staff weren't always the friendliest and that made me a little uncomfortable. After my visit with her, I had some issues with a prescription she had given me and so I called to discuss my concerns and options. 1. The phones lines are busy for the majority of the day....which means I couldn't speak to anyone. It's very discouraging to hear a busy tone every time I call and be unable to leave a message to have them return my phone call. 2. They close early, which could be fine, but they have an answering service/operator for "after hours" (which after hours could be as early has 4pm) but the operator does not take messages! So you're left having to just call back again. It's VERY discouraging. 3. I finally (after 3 days of calling) was able to get a hold of the front desk, but she had an attitude with me and was very quick whenever I asked her questions. She would rush me, which I know they have a ton of patients to see but her rushing made me feel unimportant. At this point, I feel like I am going to have to switch doctors because I don't want to feel like I am not important and I don't want to feel like I can't get a hold of my Dr. especially when something is wrong. Dr. Josey is a VERY nice woman and HER skills were great but between the rest of the staff and the inability to get a hold of her, I don't think this is worth it. read more

Dr. Josey has been my gynecologist for the 10+ years I've lived in Tampa. I cannot have children so it's nice to have a Gyn without the OB! The best thing about Dr. Josey is that she is caring, considerate and patient. I never feel like I'm holding things up or taking too much time. She's very gentle and has good advice. I'd recommend her to any woman who has no need for the obstetrics side of the practice :) read more

Dr Josy has been my Gyn for about 10 years. She genuinely cares about hers patients. She doesn't rush you. She's very knowledgeable in her field. Her office staff is very efficient. Her appointments run on time, if not a head. I've never been late seeing her. Her office is clean and very relaxing. A cozy feel in the waiting area. I would recommend anyone to go to her. read more

Don't go if you're post menopausal! Speculum too big it hurts. I had a specific problem that was not addressed- just referrals to other Drs. I thought the staff was great. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Josey for 7 years now and I couldn't ask for a better Doctor! She is always thorough and takes a lot of time to explain important information and yet I have never had to wait very long in the waiting room. She is very calm and friendly and creates a worry free environment for asking important health related questions. I wouldn't go to any other Doctor! read more

The only reason I give two stars is because of the nurses Dr. Josey works with. Dr. Josey herself is a wonderful doctor; she is thorough, gently, well-spoken and everything you would want from an OB/GYN. However, every time I go for my annual, I have an issue with one of her nurses. At my most recent visit and during my weigh-in, her nurse made a comment about my weight. As someone who has had experience with eating disorders, this was not acceptable and completely unprofessional. In addition, her nurses have been rude to me on many occasions (i.e. eye rolling, etc.). Again, Dr. Josey is a wonderful doctor, but her nurses lack tact and professionalism. read more
