I enrolled my 4 and 8 year olds at the Mary Osborne Surf Camp for a week this summer after a great review from a friend. I didn't really know what to expect sending a 4 year old to surf camp but whoever my expectations were, this camp completely exceeded them. The ratio of counselors to kids was outstanding and the counselors were caring, patient, and you could tell they enjoyed their jobs. My kids made great friends, had a blast, and were up surfing right away with lots of encouragement and help when needed. Little kids, like my 4 year old, take turns going out one on one with an instructor and get to catch waves like everyone else. It's amazing, safe, and a great value for what you pay. Did i mention that there's a pizza party the last day of camp? The whole thing was an incredible experience and we can't wait to do it again. read more

I needed to find a camp for my 5 year old daughter for the week she'd being staying in Ventura with her grandparents. I asked the "moms of Ventura" Facebook group for recommendations and Mary Osborne's Surf Camp was a clear favorite among the group. At first I was reluctant to send a 5 year old to surf camp but after speaking with Mary and learning that the teacher: student ratio for the littler kids was 1:1, I was warming up to the idea. What really sold me though was how warm and lovely Mary was on the phone. She wasn't pushy AT ALL about signing up- she even told me to wait until the first day to sign up/ pay in case my daughter was really afraid and didn't want to do it. My daughter was a little reluctant about surfing but the counselors/ instructors eased her into it and by the 4th day, she was standing up on the board, riding the wave! We emailed for an impromptu private-(family) group lesson and Mary was quick to respond and worked us in to her schedule. Our group was a barely-7, 11, 12 and adult- all no experience. I can't say enough good things about our experience. I always felt like there were a few pair of eyes on our smallest swimmer and lots of helpful tips for the rest of us. We had a great morning out at Mondo's beach and I recommend the surf academy. If we lived in the area we would for sure be a repeat customer. read more

Awesome first time surfing experience for our 9 yo son! He absolutely loves surfing now and can't wait to get out again. It's obvious that Mary loves teaching kids how to surf. The young staff really cared and were attentive in the water at all times- helping kids who surfed to shore get back out via a chain of coaches. Impressive supervision and instruction. These camps are the greatest! Surfing all day, horseback riding on the beach! Aerial yoga on the beach! Campfires, movies and incredible motivational speakers. Not to mention the insane houses right on the beach that she uses for the camps! It's so awesome to be a part of these camps and see the positive effects they have on teenage girls. Especially in this modern day when social media and friends can be brutal. Mary has motivational speakers, professional athletes, nutritionists and so many more come and speak to the girls about life, enjoying it to its fullest and not letting others bring you down. Mary is so good with the girls, connecting with each one personally and really making them feel accepted and a part of something amazing. One of the best things about Surfari is seeing a group of teenage girls come together without knowing each other and then leaving best friends. They come back each summer and leave camp at the end of each week in tears not wanting it to be over. I would nonstop recommend Mary's camps and retreats to anyone looking for a life changing outdoor, adventurous experience. read more

I am so impressed with Mary Osborne's surf camp for kids! It is AWESOME!!! My son is 7 and has never surfed before this week and I consider him a beginner swimmer as well. He loves it so much he is consistently the last one out of the ocean every day and doesn't stop for a snack break! Mary is an expert surfer and has a large crew of expert surfing staff so that each child gets individualized attention and instruction. They have a fun and non-intimidating approach and make everyone feel welcome. Safety is an obvious priority for Mary and her crew and I honestly have to say I never worried that my son was unsafe or surfing beyond his capability. Every surfer is encouraged to do their best. Mary and her staff are very warm and friendly and take the time to get to know each surfer and their family. Mondos beach is an excellent location for the beginning surfer as well as those with more experience. It wasn't too crowded either. Mary's friendly dog, Brick, was also a fun part of camp :) I will definitely be sending my son to Mary Osborne Surf Camp again and will be recommending it to friends. OMG this was one of them most amazing weekends ever! I signed up with my best friend who had never surfed. We were pampered, and treated like royalty...and we both got in some AMAZING surf! The personal attention that Mary gives is top notch. I attended one of her seminars two years ago with some friends and it was wonderful - She has just gotten better and better at what she does. My 5 year old and I did this camp together and it was AWESOME! I originally signed up my 4 and 5 year old, but my 4 year old was a little freaked out and Mary suggested we try it next summer. I asked if I could take her place and she said "of course!!" I was so excited! After having 3 kids, I was kind of worried I'd be too old, or too out of shape to learn how to surf. Her amazing, and very kind instructors had me up the first day, every day I learned something new, and I can't wait to go again, it's all I think about! As for my 5 year old he was already able to surf when we started, her instructors taught him to turn on the waves, how to catch one alone, and really taught him so much more than he already knew! Mary is extremely kind, and very good with all the kids and her instructors are the sweetest people! They keep the kids very safe and no one was ever out of sight. Being a mom I was looking all around at all the kids and was very surprised to see the surf school next to us being very unsafe. Mary's instructors keep the kids all together and have a great rhythm of having the kids surf a wave and another instructor brings them back. We are so stoked and can't wait for my other 2 kids to go Mary's surf school! Highly highly recommended! read more
