Here is a real butcher market that has been THE source for marinated flank steak for Carne Asada…read more If you are in the area and are planning to do some outdoor grilling, this is the mecca for marinated flank steak for your carne asada. American Customs allows you to bring back marinated flank steak to the US, so pick up some extra for home use. All you have to do is pick up a sack of mesquite charcoal from any store in Rosarito Beach and start a very hot fire. Pick up some fresh tortillas from any local supermarket along with some fresh salsa (salsa cruda). Toss these steaks on the grill and you are an instant expert in Mexican cuisine. Applause, Applause, Applause. Pablo's and Alicia's - accept no substitute. Muy authentico. It supplied every tardeada, boda and Quinceañera I have attended in Baja.

I wanted to make pizza so I got the spicy Italian & pepperoni sausages for it, and both of them were soooo tasty. Three sausages + the $6 basil pesto totaled a little over $18. Of course $12 for three sausages isn't particularly sustainable for a lot of us, but when it's a special occasion or you're wanting to treat yourself, it's very worth it :) The staff is great, and the place is located in an area a lot of parking and close to balboa. The basil pesto was also really yummy, I added a little lemon to it because I love a little more citrus in mine and it really made all the flavors pop.

Today, I ordered the Steak Tip and Fries (6oz. Marinated Angus Steak Tip). The steak was cooked to perfection (medium rare). And the fries were cooked in beef tallow- chef's kiss! The quality of meat and seasoning was unparalleled 10/10! Super tender and juicy and packed with tons of flavor! My wife ordered the Smashed Burger and Fries (Sliced House Marinated Angus Steak Tips with Grilled Onions and Peppers). The beef patty had a really nice sear on the outside and caramelized crust 10/10! Prices are reasonable! And staff are super friendly and helpful! And the vibe is lively! I have yet to order any fresh cuts of meat from the butchers- that's definitely on my to-do list! First impressions- these guys are the real deal! It's pretty evident they bring the highest quality ingredients to their customers! I would recommend this spot to anyone looking to buy top grade, high quality meats and delicious food!

He's giving me his childish version of evil eye. I don't appreciate some paranoid butcher treating me like a criminal because of a quick photo session OUTSIDE the store. Indeed, the best meat shop in this neighborhood is The Meatery at 6160 Fairmont Ave.

This review is only for the meat market section…read more I've been coming here for literally decades, although it had been a while since my last visit. In the past, this was the place to go if you wanted that old-school butcher shop experience and some of the best carne asada around. Unfortunately, my visit yesterday was disappointing. The meat selection seemed mediocre compared to what I remember. The carne asada was cut into small pieces (around 6 inches across) and was already pre-marinated. Years ago, the cuts were much larger, making them easier to grill and far more visually appealing. Back then, if you wanted it marinated, they would do it fresh for about $1 more per pound. That level of service made a difference. The young man behind the counter also gave me the impression that he really didn't care about my concerns, which only added to the disappointment. After cooking it, the carne asada just wasn't the same. It seemed dry and lacked the flavor and quality I had always associated with this market. I'm willing to give them one more chance in case this was just an off day. But if my next experience is the same, it will unfortunately be my last visit.

It was a very meaty burger, no lettuce, onion or tomato which highlights the dry aged patty. The bun was nicely toasted and the bacon crispy. The havarty cheese was nicely melted. It was a tasty burger but I think I'd like to try the double cheese burger next time since it has lettuce and tomato for a fresher taste. I also got an order of beef fat fries. They were crisp but not as crunchy as I had imagined. They were also a bit pricy at $6. Though it was a good amount of fries. They are primarily a whole animal butcher/meat market but they do have sandwiches and burgers. Service was friendly and courteous but there were a lot of online or call in orders so my order took a bit longer. I ate on one of the few seats outside. There's a small parking lot that they share with the surrounding businesses but also some on the street. If you like a meaty burger like the friendly try the dry aged burger. If you like a fresher burger like Hodads or In n out give the double cheese burger a try.

It is such a unique grocery experience, very clean and stocked up well. As soon as I walked in, I noticed they have a hot and ready station stocked up with meat-not chicken-but meat! that is already cooked and ready to consume. I ended up buying the T-bone steak. The meat itself was seasoned well, however a bit too rough to chew. I'd rate it 3/5. I'm used to only chicken in America being ready to go! They also have several alcoholic selections, beer and other spirits. This store offers self check out as well as the cashiers who are ready to assist. They also offer pesos exchange currency which is highly suggested to carry around when visiting Mexico. But this store also accepts debit/credit cards. The eggs were the iconic topic of the weekend; coming at a pack of 30 for $5.47 you definitely cant beat that in America's current prices. We survived off eggs for our four day weekend in Rosarito. Food definitely tastes different compared to California's groceries, but that's because they probably don't use pesticides in their veggies and such. Most of their produce is grown near by so I'm sure that's where the stores get their supply. Overall, this store was a huge convenience to have next to our Airbnb stay, walking distance makes it even better. Parking lot is big as well.

I spent $400 here just the other day and even received a follow up email asking about the service. What I do mind is the consistently unfriendly, borderline rude staff. Every visit feels rushed, as if the goal is simply to complete the transaction and move you out the door as quickly as possible. I'm not political, and I have no interest in political commentary from a business where I pay a premium for steaks, regardless of whether it comes from social media or AI generated content. Especially at a time when it is difficult to escape the political divide, this is unnecessary for a business of this type. There are plenty of other ways to be catchy, quirky, and funny without going down that path. I also know for a fact that I can find equal quality meat online, potentially for less money, without the poor customer experience. For those reasons, I will not be shopping here again. Happy New Year, everyone.
