I had a TERRIBLE experience with Maryons Locksmiths. 1. Be advised, there is a cancellation fee of $50. If you decide to utilize their services, there is a $50 Service fee and an Additional $150 cost to unlock even the simplest projects for a grand total of $200. Here's the kicker... they don't tell you this UNTIL the locksmiths arrives to your house. I live 0.4miles from Maryons Locksmiths (literally walking distance) so they sent out a locksmith pretty quickly. The cancellation policy and the pricing was NEVER brought up by the dispatcher nor the locksmith when she called, TWICE! Story Time: I'm renovating my investment property and grabbed the wrong keys by accident. When she arrived, she initially was polite so we chatted briefly and I let her know only the bottom lock was engaged (the deadbolt was NOT). I joked with her that she could kick the door down for all I cared because I was literally (can't make this up) replacing the entire front door lock set with a keyless entry that was set to arrive the following day. Showed her the Amazon confirmation and everything. After asking could she drill thru the lock, she THEN DISCUSSED PRICING. $200 to open, was is the equivalent of a bathroom door lock on the front door, is absolutely absurd. A petty thief could have opened it for me, a 5m Youtube tutorial and my stiff Amex could have probably opened it. It would have been cheaper to break a window, it would have been cheaper to shimmy down the chimney, unlock the door, then head to Urgent Care. ANYTHING would have been cheaper than allowing this shady company to prey on my distress. I told her I would not be utilizing this company to open the lock purely off of principle. She had choice words for me, we argued, I tried not to curse (I failed), I breathed deeply, and decided to Michelle Obama the situation and go high when they went low. I paid the raggedy $50 cancellation fee they asked for and caught a $30 Uber to my sister's house (and $35 back) for my spare key. I should not have had to pay anything at all. After being berated for NOT KNOWING how the locksmith industry works (as if my two degrees are in Locksmithology). I told them I would hop on over to Yelp & Google to leave this scathing review; I am a man of my word. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. I went in yesterday to have my Saab key looked at. It turned out to be something I need to get fixed at the dealer, but they were very helpful in explaining everything to me. I really appreciated that they took the time to explain what I should ask for and why even though I wasn't going to be able to use their services at all. This is a great local business, so when you need new keys, don't go to faceless home depot and support some corporate suit somewhere who knows where, go here and support Main Street! I don't live in Upper Marlboro anymore, but I swing by whenever I visit my parents. I think this town is really special, and I'm all for helping out the great businesses in it! read more
