I'm sorry but we stopped in Cave City for the night and this BBQ joint was right across the street…read morefrom our hotel. We walked over and got seated right away. It smelled great and the food we seen delivered to other tables also looked great. We got a sample platter with ribs and brisket. The ribs were over cooked and chewy and the brisket was a lot of fat. The sides were just ok. Maybe it was just an off day for them because I see a lot of great reviews. We stopped in later in the evening so that may be the reason the meats were off. Again, not thrilled with our meal here, but may give them another chance earlier in the day.

My son and I both wanted to try the brisket so he got the platter and I chose the sandwich. I was told they make most of the sides that aren't fried options such as tater tots, which I was happy about. They had the classic barbecue sauce on the table as well as a spicy option. Both were equally delicious. My sandwich came on Texas toast, which is a fave. The portions were a great value as they do not skimp! The fried potatoes are made in house and they were delicious. Even though they don't make the onion rings in house they were also quite good. My one disappointment was, they don't make the majority of their desserts. And the menu states that their daughter-in-law Kayle makes different desserts daily and they didn't have that. They were actually out of several desserts, which was disappointing. Since the only ones they had were not ones made in house I chose to not get one. Since we live 3 1/2 hours away I guess I'll have to give it another shot for the dessert option next time around. Overall, the place was terrific and the folks were friendly. They have a salad bar in the middle of the floor, which is a nice touch. They have a very laid-back atmosphere and it is definitely family friendly. And you definitely get good size portions for the money.

Don't blink. If you do you might miss Capps BBQ, a small, hole-in-the-wall in Burkesville. We were…read moretold it was a must-eat by local legendary fishing guide Jonny Rush of Rainbow Guide Service and stopped by after catching trout on the Cumberland with him. Rest assured, this is good BBQ, even if it might look sketchy from the outside. For those looking for a nice, sit down, air conditioned spot, this isn't for you. There's one tiny table (seats two) inside and picnic benches outside, but this is what makes Capps so special. Locals enjoy the place. Value rules here. You can eat the farm for a fraction of what it would cost you at a sit down place in a major city. We couldn't believe how inexpensive it was. Meanwhile, keep in mind, your food comes in a Styrofoam container, not on fancy dishes. The menu is very small, too, but they focus on what they do well. And, do they do well. On a normal day local workers swing by here for lunch and can be seen chowing down on their food outside. I'd try their pork (it comes with BBQ sauce on it). And, remember it'll be vinegar based, but not as runny as you get east in North Carolina. We both had pork, so I can't comment on anything else. Meanwhile, their homemade desserts (saran wrapped) on the counter are very good, too! (And, be prepared. They have no sweet tea, just bottled water and Pepsi products. There's no fountain machine. Make sure to call ahead, too. They are open only certain days and odd hours. *Note: Cash Only

The aroma was tantalizing and the flavor and texture wad incredible. I challenge any restaurant in Lexington that purports the notion to step up to the plate and Satisfy MY Pilate like Northend BBQ did today. Thank you, Timothy for another great surprise!

Superb quality above all else, The best brisket I've eaten in the last ten years. If you eat only…read moreone thing, the brisket is the "go-to". Easily as good, and likely better than the majority of restaurants in Kansas City. For a town this size the food is at the top of its game. The seasoned fries are served in neat old time, but decently sized paper fry pocket. The pear and blue cheese side salad was good although a little bitter. I did see things in there that are usually removed by Roundup but that's the trend nowadays. What makes this place special and rise above the usual BBQ? Well Bells two hearted is a good start. It's extra special when they seek out craft brews. It's spotless inside. The tables have warped tops so be careful when placing a full glass down. The food was up in minutes, the service is very friendly and the family vibe adds to the overall experience. Prices are a lot lower than I expected. It's truly a great value. The is easily the best place in town. We wished we could have tried other things but the portions are hearty and this may explain why they don't sell desserts. Lots of easy parking outside too.

The restaurant was somewhat empty when I arrived but it can definitely house a large group of people if needed. The ambiance is very causal and welcoming. The food came out quickly. I did enjoy my food, but the chicken was a bit dry and lacked something maybe some seasoning or needing something pickled. Regardless, I ate it all, the collard greens tasted good but way better in some vinegar. Overall, the experience was good and I enjoyed my food. I'm thankful I found something to eat in this town outside of fast or fried food. Maybe next time I'll try their ribs or wings, depending what it's fried in.
