Judith at the Main Street gallery showed us around and gave us some great information and then walked us up to their other building (about 2 blocks up the street) where we met her husband who was running that portion of the gallery. Beautiful art here. I found a new favorite sculptor and many more artists. Definitely stop by. There is a multitude of art styles so your bound to find something that fits your fancy.

Do yourselves a favor - avoid Sanya and her business as they do not operate within ethical boundaries. They refuse to refund our $5k!!!

How rude can you be, she was on the phone the entire time I was here not once asking if I needed any help or assistance. Sounded like she was having some legal issues over not wearing a mask! Once in awhile one or two pieces might catch my eye when I walk by, but really nothing I wanted to pursue or check out further. Then I happened to walk by Zantman and was was transported to that spot that art lovers have described but which I've never experienced till then. For me, the art was moving, moody and drew me in to a story I hadn't yet told or heard. The gallery owner was welcoming and didn't make me feel like I was out of my league. Sadly, I don't have the art lover's budget, but if I did, this is where I'd spend it.

This gallery is right next to First Awakenings' patio. When we had brunch Wednesday I looked at…read morethe pottery and glass in the window but it's currently open Friday to Sunday from 10-4. We stopped by today after brunch and I wandered through the gallery admiring the ceramics, glass, soaps and other wares. Everything is locally made, much of it by Bay Area artisans. Lovely music played overhead, classical guitar by a local musician. I chatted w/ the gallery owner, Karen Reynolds, who told me a bit about where the work came from. One of the most impressive pieces was a stunning Chanukah menorah made of stainless steel and copper. She told me it took the artist 130 hours to create! He's making the next one of bronze, which will take less time because of the respective properties of the various metals. I didn't even ask how much it cost. This one is made to hold candles, the next one oil. Alan came in heard the overhead music and asked about it. We mentioned the loss of both the classical and jazz radio stations here and how we've been stuck w/ a garbage station in the car. Karen mentioned that KRML was Clint Eastwood's station. It pleased me that he bought and brought it back to life. Alan bought a CD, but I know KRML's place on the dial, so I knew we could find it. We did and unfortunately it's not what it was. We listened to the CD in the car and it will be a lovely addition to our music collection. We'll probably return tomorrow before we head home so I can look at some of the pieces that have been calling to me. The gallery has been open in this location for 10 months. As of April 1 it will be moving to Carmel-by-the-Sea where it will be located on San Carlos between Ocean and 7th. I'm sure it will be right at home in its new location and wish Karen well. I look forward to visiting the next time we're in the area.

This gallery is exceptional and features some truly unique pieces of art. I've been to many…read moregalleries across the US, Canada, and the UK and this one gallery truly stood out to me with the pieces they showcase. The director was extremely knowledgeable, happy, and excited to talk about the artists she features. She was very knowledgeable about the process the artists' use to create the paintings showcased. She herself is a customer of a few of these artists, giving her the ability to speak on how the pieces personally affect her and the guests she invites into her home. What I really appreciated about the director was how protective she is about her artists' work. She does not allow any photography in the gallery and keeps a careful eye on the works displayed so that artists aren't unfairly copied. Her knowledge of and fierce devotion to the artists in this gallery really made an impression on me and puts this gallery as a top favorite. I would return and purchase works of art from this gallery.

My girlfriend and I recently visited Gallery Rue Toulouse in Carmel on Saturday, September 5, 2026,…read moreat approximately 12:30 p.m. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. When we entered the gallery, we observed an older Caucasian woman, who appeared to be a staff member, standing at the register and conversing with two older Caucasian male customers who were leaning against the register area. As my girlfriend and I walked through the gallery viewing the artwork, we approached a section of art located behind the register area. It is important to note that this is an open gallery space, and there were no barriers, signs, or other indications that visitors were prohibited from walking through that area. As we were looking at the artwork, the staff member suddenly spoke to us in a loud and aggressive tone, saying, "Ugh, excuse me, you cannot walk behind me." She then attempted to block our path and added, "You know what, just go. You're there already anyway," while rolling her eyes before returning to her conversation with the two men. As we continued looking at the artwork, she then stated, "I already have PTSD. You never know when these people are going to put a gun to your head," and proceeded to laugh with the two men she had been speaking with. My girlfriend and I were shocked and confused by these comments. We were the only people of color in the gallery at the time, and both of us are Mexican. What made the interaction particularly concerning was that the two men had been standing directly alongside the register without issue, yet we were treated as though our presence behind the register area was suspicious or threatening despite there being no indication that the area was restricted and what I find funny is little does she know I am in law enforcement. The comment about not knowing when "these people" might "put a gun to your head" felt especially inappropriate and alarming given the context. Whether intended or not, it left us feeling singled out, unwelcome, and uncomfortable as the only people of color in the gallery. We visited the gallery expecting to enjoy and appreciate the artwork, but instead left feeling disrespected and disturbed by the behavior we experienced. We hope gallery management takes these concerns seriously and ensures that all visitors are treated with courtesy, professionalism, and respect.
