Like many of the parks I visit, I stumbled upon it while researching for another park. RP has almost 300-acres, which includes the park and East Donegal's section of the Northwest Lancaster County River Trail (NRT). *Portable toilets *Boat Launch--oh how I wish I still had my kayak! *Covered Picnic Tables *Two parking lots: #1 is near the pavilion, boat launch and one end of NRT and #2 is next to NRT heading out the other direction *Benches *Historical Markers *Extremely large, grassy field to play *Nice lawn with shady trees and one lone seesaw--no other playground equipment *NRT is about 14-miles long so plenty of space to bike, walk and run. *Dogs are welcome--just clean up after them and keep them on a leash *The view of the Susquehanna River is spectacular. RP is now my favorite park in PA--so far. It has everything I need, including solitude. It's a great place to bring a picnic, watch the sunset, take a bike ride, or catch some ball. You're right beside the Columbia-Wrightsville Bridge, also known at the Veterans Memorial Bridge and can actually walk under it. There's a ramp for small boats to access the river for fishing and recreation. You can also park here for the nearby bike trail.

The staff at the information center is very friendly and help you decide where you want to walk on the River Trail if you decide to do that. If you start your walk from there, you walk across the railroad tracks and head towards Marietta on the sidewalk for a while until you are closer to the river. She suggested we drive 5 minutes to the next place to park and showed me on a map. They do have bathrooms at the information center. They also have a company that rents kayaks. This is where the boat launch is and trucks with boat trailers have to use the entrance to the water on the right side of the building and park there. On holidays and weekends I'm sure it's very busy so I would park at the lot across the street or at another entrance point. The trail is paved and everyone was friendly. There is a place to eat right across the street from the info center. You can walk or bike the River Trail or just go and sit and have a nice time.

We sat on the hill facing the amphitheater that also overlooks on two fields. The benches are beautifully positioned and near trees for shade. They also have a very nice pavilion for parties that can be rented out. We will certainly return to this wonderful park.

I was excited when I found out about this place. Here's the amenities: * Trails * Volleyball Court * Horseshoe Pits * Playground * Pavilion with grills * Portable Toilets * Butterfly Garden * Bird Sanctuary * Multi-purpose Fields * Little Chiques Creek Unfortunately, what could be a peaceful oasis, turns out to be a bit stressful -especially for dogs- thanks to the Mount Joy Sportsmen Association, which is on Range Road adjacent to the park. I really can't bring my older dog to COP because he was spooked after our first visit and the noise of the shots got him scared. But I will definitely go back with my youngest son sometime.
