They spend the day at the landfill and nights at Jordan Lake. Bald Eagles were traveling from Jordan Lake with them. The landfill is an amazing place that keeps us healthy from diseases while doing what it can to protect the environment. A lot of thought and technology goes into it. The landfill has a liner system; the groundwater is monitored; the gas is being monitored by the current flare system and will soon be reused. Dominion Energy is building a site to use the methane gas released to provide renewable energy. Then there is a system for the leachate to remove the bad stuff and dehydrate it and filter the water. Besides the landfill, it is also a convenience center, multi-material recycling facility and also a household hazardous waste facility. This landfill handles the waste for over 1.1 million people in Wake County. The landfill is expected to be full by 2040 and there is no future facility set up yet. But a big problem is 65% of the material is the landfill could have been composted or recycled. So if we were doing more the landfill would not be filling so fast.

(I contemplated giving them only one star, but figured a two-star rating would draw readers, as one-star ratings tend to appear as knee-jerk responses to bad service) In early February, 2025, I rented a dumpster from Budget Dumpster for the second time in as many years. My first experience was fine. This one was a disaster, complete with several hundred dollars worth of property damage for which Budget Dumpster compensated me only a fraction of the cost. Upon delivery, the driver gouged a trench into my gravel driveway. I did not notice it until the dumpster was picked up 10 days later. That damage by itself would've been somewhat tolerable, but it was upon pick-up that the real damage occurred. I'm not sure who they employ to drive their vehicles, but this individual's CDL should be revoked. Despite having an wide entry to the driveway being used for deliveries of this nature (which has accommodated trucks of all sizes for years), the driver drove off of the side of the road and THROUGH my yard, damaging the moss turf (complete with deep tire tracks). Then they ran over the decorative edge of my fence at the edge of the property, and topped off the damage by crushing a 6"x 6''x 6' landscape timber, bordering my driveway. I immediately called Budget dumpster to start the claim process. To their credit, I got a response the next business day, but after that initial engagement, nothing but crickets for 10 days. They finally responded with a request for estimates, despite having photos of the damage, so right out of the gate they wanted me to do the legwork. When I provided that information to them, I got an immediate response indicating they would only pay approximately 25% of what it would cost for materials and labor to repair the damages. In this offer, they included the following contract language excerpt: EXCEPT IN THE EVENT OF GROSS NEGLIGENCE OR INTENTIONAL MISCONDUCT, CUSTOMER HEREBY WAIVES ANY AND ALL CLAIMS AND LOSSES AGAINST THE COMPANY AND ITS SUBCONTRACTORS, HAULER SUBCONTRACTORS... OK, so driving through my yard, damaging the turf, crushing the edge of a fence and a landscape timber, not to mention the initial damage incurred upon delivery (a 6ft x 6in gouge in my gravel driveway) isn't GROSS NEGLIGENCE??? Best case, it's egregious driver incompetence. If you look at the photos below, I think "gross negligence" is pretty obvious. In addition, it seems Budget Dumpster grudgingly acknowledged some degree of "gross negligence," otherwise, why would they offer any compensation at all? Regardless, I rejected their lowball offer, but in the end - after a couple of hours of emails and back-and-forth phone calls with someone who only referred to themselves as "David R." in Ohio (why not provide your last name to your customers, David?) - they only added an additional $36 to the overall claim and washed their hands of any other responsibility or costs. The rest was on me, and as a retired disabled Vet, I do not look forward to having to repair that fence or remove/replace a heavy railroad tie on my own. Among readers of this review, some might say "Hey, quit complaining - you got a little something." My response to that would be why should I or any other customer accept that? Why is it OK for any business to come onto anyone's property and do hundreds of dollars worth of damage, but only pay a small percentage of that and walk away? So I guess in closing I'll simply say that if any of you are willing to accept this kind of buffoonery and incompetence from any business, much less a second rate dumpster company like Budget Dumpster, then be my guest and hire them. Maybe you'll get lucky and the driver won't destroy too much of your property. To the rest of you, I'd advise not doing business with Budget Dumpster, especially anyone who has served and been disabled in the performance of their duties as a Military Veteran or First Responder.

If you want the short version: unless everything goes perfectly, you're risking your hard-earned money. Keep this in mind, I spent over $5,000 for a countertop and was provided something incorrect, and was mocked for thinking someone should apologize. If your installation is straightforward, you might be fine. But if anything--anything--goes wrong, be prepared. CCKB takes zero personal responsibility and will deflect blame onto anything or anyone else. Some background. ~15 years ago, I worked in the kitchen and bath industry. I'd heard some rumors about CCKB back then but never had much direct experience with their work. Fast forward--I was referred to them by a remodeling company. I hesitated, but decided to give them a shot based on the referral. Also worth noting: I've been involved in over four dozen kitchen installations and personally built eight wood countertops. I know how to template, how to handle out-of-plumb walls, and how overhangs work. I'm not a random customer. We had a single slab of honed quartzite, very specific design specs, and a setup that was 100% ready--walls, cabinets, and layout. During templating for the makeup vanity, it was even noted that I requested an extended overhang on the left side (near a doorway). The right side was bordered by a tall pantry-style cabinet, and the back edge met a wall that was out of plumb (which we all knew going in). What showed up? A completely botched countertop. The right side was cut at a ~15-degree diagonal--shorter in the back than the front--leaving a 7/8" gap where the counter should have been flush with the pantry cabinet. Think of a rectangle with three straight sides, and the fourth side hacked at an angle. To be fair, the installer did the best he could but neither him, nor the installation manager offered any recommendation on how to fix it. They originally offered to cut the finished left end, but neither my contract nor I could see how that would fix anything. The suggestion to fix this, came from me. After measuring the angle, there was only one way to fix the gap "Scribe it to the cabinet" just the way the template should have been done to begin with. So, he cut off the angled portion (with an impressively steady hand), but we lost the overhang we had designed. I told the install team I wasn't happy, and then, silence. No call from CCKB--just an invoice. When I finally called, I spoke with someone who I believe is a co-owner. She kept insisting the issue was due to the back wall being out of plumb--totally missing the fact that the actual error was on the side, not the back. The template and CAD drawings showed the measurements she said and the mistake was "the wall being out of plumb"; however, after speaking to everyone NOT associated with CCKB, the mistake was clearly the cut. I tried to explain calmly that this wasn't about the wall--it was a simple length measurement along the side. She repeated herself again, ignoring the facts. I finally told her, "I don't think you understand what I'm trying to say." That's when she laughed at me. Loudly. Mockingly. She then snapped, "Okay, what do you want?" I said calmly, "I don't think I should be charged full price." Her response? "Fine. I'll give you $200 off." I told her I appreciated the gesture, but what I really wanted was an apology and some accountability. Instead, she laughed again and said: "What do you want me to tell you? That you're right? Ok, You're right! *mockingly* I'm sorry, you win! Does that make you feel better?!" I was stunned. Her tone was completely unprofessional and condescending. I told her I just wanted acknowledgment of the issue, and an apology would have been nice. Let's be clear: the only reason this install was even usable was because I guided the installers on how to fix it. The installers had no plan. Bottom line, every company makes mistakes and I believe that's human. But how a company responds to those mistakes defines its integrity. CCKB failed that test completely.
