My mother went into Mira Lea the "active lifestyle " community in appx 2013. Mom passed in 2023. Just now can I address a review Food was great for the first 5 years 2013 -2018, then went very downhill to a ditch. Supposedly the apartment would generate some income after her death. But as of now 3 YEARS LATER January 2026 THIS APARTMENT STILL HASN'T SOLD I've emailed and even got a realtor and lawyer involved. The Masonic Home sells. "Contract of care" NOT REAL ESTATE. SO NO RECOURSE IS AVAILABLE BE VERY WARY OF MASONIC HOMES and all associated "real estate" Their promises DO NOT MATCH REALITY At present am trying to get media involved to spread the word. read more

Assisted living facilities are not well maintained and very dated. Also, the food in assisted living is awful and a lot of it is straight from a can. Courtyards for residents are not well kept. The care staff are overall trying to do a good job under difficult circumstances but the facility is in need of new senior management in order to make it competitive with other assisted living facilities in the Louisville area. I highly recommend you carefully consider whether you or your loved one want to spend your final years at the Masonic Home Louisville. Personally, I will look elsewhere. read more

Quality care in a skilled nurse facility. Physical therapy and occupational therapy services were outstanding.

I wish I could give Sam Swope Care Center a zero. My mother entered the center for rehab following a surgery for pacemaker. Her problems, however, were venous stasis wounds on her legs which was causing pain and inability to walk. I kept finding my mother on floor, alone in dark room in a wheelchair, etc. once they moved her to Alzheimer's wing so they could put her in a group and ignore her. The cost was astronomical. I had to use a family connection to get to the head of the facility to move her. They even forgot to take her to hospital for a procedure.i often saw patients on the floor unable to get help. They are understaffed and patients have lights to alert staff instead of buzzers. This was the darkest period in my life with Mom. I found her a nice, caring nursing home finally where she lived her final days. I still have nightmares about Swope. read more

Assisted Living at Grove Pointe is well managed and clean. The room plans are very nice. Prices and included services are competitive. it is pet friendly.Services are adequate but sometimes follow-through for appointments, ie, is less than desired. activities for residents can be better. Food meals are fair. Caretakers are kind. In 2 years services that were once free, ie, transportation to and from local medical appointments, now charges. Rent has increased twice in two years. There is a salon on the premises. The worst service is the associated Care Clinic. They are just bad, mediocre medical treatment and poor follow through. Recommend you Do Not Use! read more

I have been a supporter of the Masonic Homes organization historically...it would seem my positive perception was truly from " back in the day". On 9-18-19 our loved one was sent to the Sam Swope Care Center for Rehab (allegedly) so that he could return home after a fall, once he regained his strength. By mid-October, P/T and O/T plan of treatment were discontinued. Who knew a diagnosed dementia patient could REFUSE therapy? With the original admission outcome no longer applicable, why ever did the clinical staff not suggest moving our loved one to a more appropriate level of care, even elsewhere on campus? A few shining examples of compassion and dedication have been a stark contrast to those perhaps suffering from burn-out; some stellar staff work far too infrequently. Staff initiated occasions involving unprofessional and inappropriate conversations were not an isolated occurrence in our loved one's presence. Abominable! Significant dollars are being charged for the 'pleasure' of this experience with our loved one's quality of life being an after thought. Numerous times the staff have reminded us what they will and will not do based upon being "short staffed"...it certainly cannot be a case of insufficient funding. Decision makers have chosen to let the patient census grow, outpacing the allocation of adequate personnel. Shame on them. As the spouse of a past Master of his Masonic Lodge, we had considered spending our last days somewhere on this campus in Louisville. With our loved one's recent experience, you could not pay ME to reside here. So very disappointing... read more

My father was admitted to the Judy house for rehab following pneumonia. He was ignored and neglected for the most part. His health got worse. After 8 days we tried to get him transferred which took a couple of days due to insurance. The aids were very sweet but the nurses and case manager were positively rude and did not treat my father with any dignity.It was a horrible experience. Perhaps the better health that you are in, the better the staff treat you. But that's not right. He fell twice while he was there, he was left in soiled clothes for six to eight hours at a time, he did not eat and no one cared if he ate or not or tried to assist him with eating. read more

I had knee surgery and did my rehab there. The rehab staff was excellent and really helped me get back on my feet. My dad went there after heart surgery because my mom was unable to take care of him at home. The staff was attentive and caring. I can't say enough good about the people who contributed to his care. The environment is beyond compare. There is not another nursing facility that I have seen that has such a beautiful setting. They helped dad get back into shape so he could return home. Great facilities, great staff. read more

Best care for residents. Incredible campus with wonderful amenities for residents and their guests. Not to mention it is 150 years old!

The Sam Swope Center is where my love one landed after a referral from a family member. I wish I never seen this facility,in the first three nights I got phones calls telling me my loved one had fallen,and the second time she was on the floor long enough to fall asleep! After this I started spending nights with her and paid for someone to be with her during the day. What kinda sense does it make to pay to be at the Sam Swope Center only to have to pay more money to have someone else there. During the evenings I would not see anyone,except for the person giving pm meds. People need to know that NO BODY CHECKS ON YOUR LOVED ONES, NO ONE until the shift is almost over. If I had the time and money I would seek legal advice but my loved one is still in rehab and my time is better spent with them. Please take my advice DO NOT put your love one in the Sam Swope Center. I went to staff on separate occasions to voice my concerns and I was assured that this was not common practice........well it was the only thing I ever seen,no changes read more
