Preston has been my go to guy for literally years now. Make no mistake - he is not gonna be the one you want to see for a "relaxing" massage by any means. As a bodybuilder and a firefighter, I beat my body up on the daily. Deep tissue massage and cupping have been necessary for my recovery. Outside of a ski lodge in Vail with a literal Svetlana from Russia, no one else has been able to give me the necessary deep tissue like he does. Be warned, if you're looking for Swedish - look elsewhere and leave his appointment slots open for those of us with athletic recovery needs please! read more

Really pissed me off when I was unable to do a chemical plea because of a cut on mu face and they still charged you when you try to reschedule. I don't know if the others locations are any better. Horrible experience! Massages are okay but they won't let me out of my contract, won't let me use my credits, yet they charged me after I told them I wanted to discontinue. No one is helpful. When I first began, no one reached out to me to explain my contract. And now that I want to end it, no one will reach out to me to explain how that works either. I have been a member for many years. I have finally come to the realization that it is time to IMMEDIATELY terminate my membership. I have a large number of pre-paid sessions that I have been unable to use. I have scheduled appointments that we canceled less than 24 hours ahead of time. I am unable to find appointment slots anywhere in the area that would enable me to use my pre-paid sessions. Let's be clear, Massage Envy is reliable in that they promptly withdraw my dues every month but they are unable to provide me with the services for which I have paid. I got a membership here about a year ago, and I am very happy! I went for just a massage and was gently pressured into a membership. Anyone coming here has to keep in mind that it's a membership chain, so they are going to pimp the product. Massages and facials are worth it so I was happy to sign up . It's a good deal if you want frequent massages. Jeff is AMAZING but he's always booked so you have to book in advance. I also get facials with a Kristin and she's been really helping my skin the last few months. I was gifted a massage by wonderful friend when I truly needed one the most and I asked if she had a particular masseuse that she could would recommend at this particular location as this is not an area I'm familiar with. I went with her recommendation and boy am I happy I did. Traci was everything I needed. So incredibly gifted and skilled. She new exactly what I needed, even though I didn't. My husband and I have been members for going on four years and, unfortunately, it may be time to find another place. The front desk staff and management have declined with each passing month. Our very first month of membership there was a problem but they were very quick to rectify the situation. Now, we have another membership issue that I have been trying to get resolved since July. They keep telling me that I have to speak to a manager...which is great. However, when I call she is never there. I ask for her to call me back on my cell and the call always gets returned to my home. I am a school teacher and I can only make a receive calls during certain times...how come the manager cannot leave notes on my profile to relay the answer to my membership question? I was a member here for a year. My s/o signed up, but ultimately didn't have much time so he transferred his prepaid massages to me and canceled. Unbeknownst to me, my membership expired and was not on "auto renew." However, I still had 6 prepaid massages left. I actually LEFT this location because they never answered my online requests. I went instead to Gainesville, which was more convenient. I called to ask if I would still be able to use these massages, to which the answer was yes. I had several massages between the expiration (7 months ago) and now, at both locations. Each time, I utilized a prepaid massage and asked each and every time, at BOTH locations, how many I had left. I was told a few weeks ago after my last massage that I had 2 left, and at that time I might consider renewing. Today I tried to schedule an appointment, and they called to confirm. However, they stated I would owe $110 since I was no longer a member. I told them no, I had 2 left. After a brief hold, I was told that they should have expired when my membership did, so I could not use them. I aruged I had been using them ever since, to which she confirmed she saw I had been in several times. However, this was wrong so I would not be allowed to use the last 2 since they no longer technically exist. I was "misinformed," she said. So in short, not one, but at least 7-8 different people at TWO LOCATIONS were wrong every single time they let me use them by misinforming me? It is not my fault that universally, the staff at this business clearly don't know their own policies if so many people would let me continue to utilize what was already paid for if it wasn't "policy." I intend to write a letter to corporate, and have never felt so jerked around by one company. Massages, and memberships, are not cheap. I was a faithful member for a year, and I even had someone else sign up though they ultimately canceled. This is horrible customer service, and clearly these people all need training in their policies. I was so irritated I told her to forget scheduling me another massage and I hung up. Tonight 11/12/2012 I went in for a couples massage. Upon checking in, I was informed that I was not scheduled for an appointment, but my wife was. After they double checked they informed me that my massage therapist was a no show. I was informed that they left me a voicemail, however they have two phones numbers listed for me. If they would have called my cell phone --this would have been fixed. If they were proactive, they would have scheduled another therapist for me. A "voicemail" is a "Hail Mary" pass and it is un acceptable CYA. We (my wife and I) will not be renewing our contracts with Massage Envy. My advice, stay local (no big corporations) --it may cost a few $$ more, as you get what you pay for. read more

I booked an appointment for a couples massage and the phone person made it really easy. She allotted me different times that were available to fit my schedules needs. She explained different add ones, why there were important, and what they would do for the massage experience. Upon finishing the booking I asked for a price quote and she gave me the range, along with our masseuse names. When me and my boyfriend arrived we were instantly greeted by the front desk girl who was totally sweet. I forgot her name but she was of african american decent. While in the waiting area, we didn't wait long before greeted by our masseuse. Our experience was quite pleasant. My boyfriend had Cheryl and I had Maria. Cheryl seemed quite knowledgeable and Maria was very sweet. My experience with Maria was great. She had great pressure and made it very relaxing. read more

The worst massage ever. If there was a negative star i will have given it. My appointment was for 9 pm i got there 5 minutes to 9. Upon entering the front desk lady was on the phone. She didn't acknowledge my presence or say a word to me and i stood in front of her for another 10 minutes Before she got of the phone and decided to sign me in, gave me a tablet and a stylus to fill question in the tablet. She didn't give me any explanation and that's it. I filled the questions on the tablet and gave it back to her and that was it. A few minutes later i was called in by my masseuse. She was an older smallish white lady probably in her late 40s ans under 5 feet. I am 6 feet and muscular. The massage started and she started using her elbow which a few minutes into it i told her to use her hands cos she was hurting me instead cos she wasn't actually massaging and it felt like she didn't know what she was doing. So thats when i asked her to use her hands instead of her elbow. And that's when we went from bad to worse. Even my 69 year old mother has more pressure in her fingers than her. She just kept putting oil on me and i barely felt any pressure from her fingers. She looks like she didn't have an idea of what she was doing, as if she watched how to massage on YouTube and became a masseuse. This has been the worst customer service and actual service in my life and i will not recommend this place to anyone even if they offer a free massages . read more

The place is clean and nice with friendly staff. Liked the relaxing room's setup. However, I was ready earlier than my appointment time, wasn't called until about 8 minutes passed my time while waiting for someone to call my name. Talked to the Masseuse for not less than 7 minutes and was left to change for another 5-7 minutes. The hour became a little over 30 minutes which I didn't like. After having such a bad experience at the Gainesville location, it was so refreshing to walk up to the door, have the lovely staff at the front desk greet me by my last name, offer me water, carry on a conversation with me and make me feel right at home. They knew I had come from Gainesville and had a bad experience not just once but twice there and the second time i came to manassas, they gave me a card when I checked out.... They hand-wrote it, made it personal and made me feel special... I had been going to the gainesville location for over a year and NEVER got the warm fuzzy from the staff there. Within my second visit to Manassas, I felt at home with the staff, they even ran out to my car to grab the water I left on the roof of my vehicle to make sure I didnt drive off - Connie gives the most amazing massages and has become a dear friend to me. I will never go anywhere else for my massages... I left a review a year ago today and since then had few good experiences with this office. Connie, the office manager/site manager is literally unavailable to call back once you have an issue. I received a collection notice from a third party vendor three months after cancelling my membership ( after the year membership). I cancelled because of my schedule, and the availability of good therapists or therapists leaving. It took more than three months of going to the store, calling, and then calling Corporate to get a bogus $267 collection off of my credit report. After three months, it was resolved, it was a "system error" where it showed the cancelled membership, but was still billing. Getting Connie to follow through to contact the third party vendor was nightmare! They offered a free massage, but I quickly declined. This location would have remained great if they kept good therapists. read more

Stopped in for a massage on a random Saturday. I had requested an appoitment online on Friday night, they called me back Saturday morning and booked me for 5:00 that afternoon. The front staff was nice and welcoming. The "relaxation" waiting room was very cute and believe it or not, was quite relaxing. My therapist was Victoria. Amazing. She was very nice and attentive, asked how the pressure was, and did everything possible to make sure my expieriance was a plesant one. I didn't feel the pressure to join thier membership program like others did. They mentioned it, I asked a few questions, let them know that I needed to think about it and that was the end of the conversation. I actually may even join. :) I am sure I will be back soon. 5 star massage. 4 star waiting area (some chairs uncomfortable) 3 star facial started going because my sister gifted me one of her monthly massages. They had to reschedule my first appointment so I ended up with Shannon by chance. Pretty happy with her. Front desk is pleasant enough and it's always clean. I joined a membership and enjoy extra massages at 50 a pop. Not a bad deal if you frequent the place. They haven't attempted to upcharge at the front. I had the facial and it was so so. It was relaxing and I enjoyed the mask and products used but no tools were used for extractions, which was kinda a letdown. I will get another with some upcharge suction thingy but I think I've had better facials elsewhere. No scalp or front shoulder massage either. This was my first time going to a massage Envy. My therapist was great and really helped with knots in my back. I do have to say that the front desk will do anything to get you to sign up for a contract which I do not appreciate being forced into. They will tell you how there is no joining fee and that it's waived if I signed up right then and there. She also made sure to tell me if I was back it is a $100 sign up fee to start a contract. I do not like this sale practice they have. I ended up paying for a 3 month contract. When the receptionist gave me the tablet to sign the contract it looked like I was signing up for an year. When I asked she had no idea how to explain what I was signing. Girl with the nose ring had no idea what she was doing. Now after reading previous comments I am scared to find out if she signed me up for an year contract that I am stuck in. read more

We have a membership here that we will not renew once it runs out. We joined in September 2012 and I have had more than one experience where I have left in pain and been uncomfortable for days after. Tonight when my partner and I went in for our scheduled massages - he was not in the system as being scheduled for a massage, it was the icing on the cake. When we checked in the girl at the front was unable to find his reservation information (although she had my information). As it turns out the person who was scheduled to perform his massage simply did not show up to work. No one from the salon reached out to us to cancel and no efforts were made to find a replacement. The girl at the front was not able to offer us any concession for our lost time except for a free aroma therapy session the next time he came in (a $10.00 offer). And so we left, no massage, no offer to reschedule, the only offer we had was that the manager would contact us...I'm not holding my breath (the manager left as we were checking in, she knew there would be an issue). Clearly they are not in the business of customer service - and a business like this cannot survive if it is not in the business of customer service. If you are thinking about joining this chain, don't. Seriously, you are better off watching Groupon and Living Social for coupons for local massage salons and taking advantage of those offers. read more

So I decided to give Massage Envy another try after my bad experience the first time, in which I received a massage where the male therapist physically hurt me. I scheduled an appointment a week ago and had my phone all set up with a reminder 2 hours before my scheduled time. At 4pm yesterday, my reminder popped up while we were at Value City Furniture in Woodbridge (about 30 minutes outside of Manassas) looking for a bedroom suit for my son. My appointment was for 6pm. I immediately drove my family home and then turned around and headed for Liberia Avenue (about 15-20 minutes across the city) to Massage Envy. While 5 minutes out at a red light, I took a moment to check my email (the stoplights in Manassas can be quite long). I noticed a notification from Massage Envy sent at 2pm that I had until 4pm (a 2 hour window) to confirm my appointment scheduled for 6pm and that if I didn't call, they would presume I wasn't coming. Now I am known to frequently check my email throughout the day, but I had not checked it during this 2 hour window and was now just aware and right around the corner from the facility. I immediately called (it was now 20 after 5pm) and basically said, "What kind of company requests a confirmation within 2 hours by EMAIL or otherwise cancels?" The polite young man who answered the phone really had no answers; only that they tried to call me, but it turned out that I had written the wrong area code down. The therapist (who is also the Office Manager, "Connie") was out. He assured me that as a "courtesy" they continued to hold my appointment regardless of what the email said for a "just in case". I continued on my way. Five minutes later as I was pulling into the parking lot, the nice young man called me back and apologized for his misguided response and further responded that my appointment was indeed cancelled! I was livid! Not only had I cut my shopping experience short in order to make this appointment, but I wasted time and fuel driving all the way home from Woodbridge to Manassas and then across the City of Manassas (and of course back) to ensure that I was at this appointment in a timely manner just to be told that my appointment was cancelled on me. What poor business! As a fellow LMT, I would NEVER do that to a client! I have a free massage waiting on me; as well as some leftover money from my gift certificate, but I highly doubt I will bother ever using Massage Envy again. Clearly they have no business ethics whatsoever. Connie tried to call several hours later to apologize, but I've had enough of "I'm sorry" from Massage Envy. There is far too much competition in the area to deal with such nonsense. If Connie had an Emergency, then another therapist should have been lined up to accommodate my scheduled appointment. read more

I've been getting deep tissue massages from Randall and he is the consummate professional. He isn't afraid to apply firm pressure when there are knots and he ensures that my expectations have been met. As a customer for 2 years, I was shocked by the differences in Gainesville location and this one. My male therapist was so physically inappropriate that I called and reported him to the manager. I followed up 2 times asking when the owners were going to call me. No owners ever bothered to call me about the incident. It was my second massage with the same male. I was paying monthly for 2 people. Sadly, I now refuse any male therapists to work on me because I can't relax. My other membership family member had her massage therapist fall asleep during her massage. I think Connie is an excellent therapist. I wish them the best of luck but I won't be back. read more

I have been a member for years and joined at the Manassas location. I wouldn't recommend this location for your home location. Although they have some great therapists, the front staff is pretty hopeless. I ended up with extra charges that took multiple phone calls and follow ups and months to fix. For awhile I also had a problem with them cancelling on me and it got to the point where there was a 50-50 chance the appointment would actually happen. I then tried to avoid the place at all costs and began going to a different massage envy. Also I would warn you that the good massage therapists never stay long so my guess is they pay poorly. I was also surprised at the length of the massage as it is 50 min not 60 as they allow 5 min. for dressing before and after. There were days when I probably would rate this a 4 but overall, it's a 2 star for me given all the issues I had. read more

I love all the other Massage Envys I've been to, but this specific location just gave me the absolute worst massage of my life. Out of what was supposed to be an hour long massage, the masseur only actually massaged me for about 20 minutes. The rest of the time he was teaching me how to do stretches. Uhhh... that's not what I'm paying good money for. This isn't physical therapy. It's MASSAGE therapy. The masseur also talked throughout the "massage," which I really did not appreciate. I don't understand the negative reviews. I've been coming here for about 3 months and I've never had a bad experience. The front desk is always nice and welcoming. I've been to three therapist, Maggie, Cheryl and Courtney and they are all fantastic. Each a different style but each great. My payment use to come out on the 17th but after a few visits, I wanted to start coming the first week of every month and they easily moved my payment to the 7th. They call the day before to remind you of your appointment and if you don't call back, I assure you that they aren't going to cancel your appointment. I never call back, unless I need to cancel. I don't normally "defend" businesses because everyone has their opinion but I'm honestly really surprised by these reviews. Every single person I've met here is wonderful and professional. I had never gotten a professional massage before I came here. My best friend goes here and kept pushing me to come with her and swore I would love it, well, she was right. You walk through the door and you already know you'll love it. The people are very nice, they explain what kind of massages are what and you fill out some paper work to make sure they get exactly what you want and so they know your trouble areas. Once you do that, they take you into this back room that is so relaxing and you wait there. I had Maggie and she was fabulous! I was so relaxed where I would find myself falling asleep. I made an appointment at my last visit for a 90 minute massage and facial. Since no one called to confirm my appointment (the day before), I contacted the location to verify myself and found out that my facial wasn't scheduled and the available openings do not fit within my schedule. Now if I want to a facial I have to make another appointment and come back a different day - which is inconvenient. I make all my appointments a month in advance (I am have a membership) and look forward to them when they are scheduled. So to realize that I cannot get all the services that I previously booked is very upsetting. This is not the first time this has happened. The front desk staff needs to be able to make appointments and confirm them - not just at the time of booking but also through reminder phone calls/emails/texts. read more

Don't waste your time here. I used to have a Massage Envy membership that I started before moving here, and was thrilled to find a franchise in my hometown. Sadly, customer service has gone downhill. I've had frequent issues with appointment mix-ups, and then at some point before the pandemic, my membership was mysteriously cancelled - along, apparently, with all my saved months. Still, I needed a massage and this was the only place I was familiar with. So I scheduled an appointment online, and then my schedule changed. You can't cancel or reschedule online, so I called. The receptionist and I actually discussed the therapist I'd chosen online, so I know I'd called the right place. However, when I showed up for my appointment, they had no record of it. I'm done with this place, and would recommend anyone looking for quality customer service to look elsewhere. If you want to waste your time and be treated like an inconvenience, this is the place for you. read more
