The receptionist was audibly complaining about coworkers as I was sitting in the lobby, but the main issue I had was the massage itself. The masseuse looked unprofessional and I had to ask them to repeat themselves several times. There was a lack of communication during the massage and I felt very tense the whole time. They kept vigorously shaking me (which is a technique I am a bit unfamiliar with) and covering my whole face with a heavy towel which made it difficult to breathe. I felt very uncomfortable and escalated after the massage was over. Would not recommend this place. read more

I received a Groupon as a gift for a facial. I called and made an appointment, I told them that I had a Groupon and the person who answered the phone, Stephanie told me that I could get in the same day about 5 hours from when I called. I asked which location to go to and she said their Main St. location. I ended up not having time for the facial and called 3 hours before my appointment so I called again and was told that I could not change my appointment because I had to do it 6 hours before the appointment and they would charge me if I was a "no show"- even though it had been less than 6 hours until my appointment so I had to come in. She said she told me the policy when I made the appointment. She didn't. So I had to go to get the facial which was nice and Sarah was lovely. I was so relaxed when it was over, but it didn't last because when I went to the counter to show my Groupon and tip Sarah the lady said that they could not accept the Groupon because it was meant for the other Ann Arbor location. I was stuck. I didn't have money for a facial. In fact I haven't indulged in any self treats in years, so this gift meant so much to me. I was told that the massage was $90 and I had to pay for it. She told me to call Groupon, I couldn't. And she was basically yelling at me that other people have had the wrong location Groupon code and they were able to switch the location so that she could accept it. She wasn't listening when I was trying to tell her that I got it as a gift so I could not change it. If people have been getting the wrong location they really should know to mention it when you make an appointment for the Groupon. She didn't. The woman at checkout already had my debit card on file because they make you give it when you make the appointment. I was stuck. And during the commotion she asked if I wanted the membership! No! I was crying at this point and she was yelling at me that my experience shouldn't go against MassageLuxe, but Groupon. I mean she was yelling! Finally I talked her into charging me $65 +tip. I didn't have this in my budget so it came out of what I use to get groceries for my family. She was not helpful in trying to find a solution to the problem. I don't know if she was the manager, but someone should have been able to dude-escalate the situation. Maybe take my money and put it towards a membership then they would have a repeat customer rather than well, this. Whoever made their Groupon listing did not tell them include that you had to go to specific location to use it. I think that is MassageLuxe's mistake because Groupon just lists it. I hope that after this they remedy this problem and work on their customer service. I was so stressed out and cried off my facial! And I think that because I am not a "new" member that I can no longer use the gift certificate at the right location. I am not sure I would go anyway. It wasn't worth it. Such a shame because it could have worked out differently. I would recommend maybe finding someone for massage or facial from a local small business owner, and not a chain. They will talk you into a membership that probably banks on you forgetting about your membership and they keep collecting your dues. Hard pass. I would give Sarah 5 stars, but I cannot for the business so the two that I give this place are because of her. read more

I received conflicting information on the cancellation policy. They make it difficult to use your remaining massages once you cancel your monthly membership. They also have a very high turnover of masseuse and masseur. I don't not recommend the Main Street location due to poor customer service. read more

Came as a member for a deep tissue massage. The masseuse complained that I was sweaty multiple times throughout despite it being 78 degrees outside, that I was under two layers of sheets, and that she had the table warmer on. Things did improve after I asked for the table warmer off. She was very mindful of pressure and checked in multiple times to make sure it was comfortable. Overall it was a fairly good experience, closer to 3.5 stars than 4 stars though. read more

I absolutely love Kim E. I know there are two Kim's at Main st. location but can only say my Kim is my favorite of the masseuse' I've tried there- I never got to try the other Kim. I'm so happy to have found her and her magical hands! My favorite is a 2 hour massage. Starting by lymph drainage and then focusing on tight muscles and relaxing- perfect combination for me. I will always book ahead because when I don't go I'm not as limber and relaxed- and she books up fast! I love that she challenges herself to learn new techniques and takes care of herself by having her peers work on her too. My daughter, who is an athlete, loves to be relaxed by Kim's magic hands too. I have had a horrible experience today. I have been to this spa before without any issues. I had a facial that was good the technician was not the issue. After 4hr plus the new reception (to me) called me and accused me of not leaving a tip!!! wth I 100% did. I gave the receptionist cash and even stated that I always give the tip in cash and not on my account card. Usually they put the cash tip in an envelope. I did not see this happen this time but thought nothing of it, until as previously stated I had a phone call saying you have not tipped. I asked them to check the cameras but the lady just kept saying you didn't give me any cash. I am shocked Why would I even entertain not tipping when I have booked another appointment? This location is phenomenal! Cheri gave me an amazing hydrafacial and I left with my skin absolutely glowing. On my way there I was stuck in traffic and they were so sweet and accommodating when I called to move my appointment back a few minutes. Dominique is one of the best massage therapists I have ever had. I had a 90min long deep tissues massage with her and it was phenomenal. She is so talented! I was able to feel like the massage had lasting benefits after I walked out without feeling like I was in pain during the massage since it was deep tissue. I was very relaxed the whole time. Great, friendly management. My first massage ever I received a facial mask add on free of charge and at another one I receive a free foot scrub free of charge. I also enjoy taking advantage of the hydro massage bed once in awhile as a member. read more

Wow. I have never been so furious at a spa in my life! I was looking for a nice, relaxing day after a hard few weeks. The facial I received was mediocre at best. The Swedish massage was pretty good. I was not very happy with my facial but was going to just let it go. Then I got ripped off at the register. I asked the girl at the desk to leave $24 for a tip, which was a 15% tip, which I thought was fair for the level of services I received. I asked for a printed receipt, which I'll admit I didn't look at until I got home. She seemed a bit unnerved that I even asked for a receipt and now I know why. She changed my tip and gave $36! That was 50% more than I requested and way more than was deserved. I find this unbelievable! I wonder how many people they have ripped off as they don't give a receipt unless you explicitly ask. I'll chalk this up as a learning experience I guess - I will never set foot in that place again and be careful at future spa experiences that input your tip for you. I wouldn't have been back for another facial anyway (seriously - it was the worst I've ever had) but might have considered another massage. Nope. Never again. Buyers beware! I joined the monthly club over a year ago. I have had 2 massages, the lastest of which was very nice. I have also had one facial, which I thought was wonderful. The issue is that you can not get an appointment. They are always booked and you need to call 6-8 weeks in advance to MAYBE get an appointment. I have now been paying monthly for 16 months and have only been able to get 3 appointments. I can "pause" my membership for $5 per month, but I don't want to pause it. i want to go every month. I am an essential worker and can't plan two months in advance. Impossible!! Stop taking memberships if you can't support them. Now I am waiting on a manager to call me. It's too bad, since the lady that did my facial was amazing. It hurts her reputation working there. read more

The massage was okay I wouldn't give it as high of a rating as the massage I got at Massage Green, but the massage therapists put in effort for sure. And they are professional and nice. Except the front desk ladies make it very awkward when it comes to paying. They're never satisfied. They want you to dump your entire savings onto massages, to come back like 5 times a week, to make memberships with them, to pay $130 a month, to pay more than you're even willing on massages, to make some sort of agreement with them. All I want is to pay for the service offered. That's it. No strings attached. read more

Amazing place! Everything is brand new and high quality. If you get massages frequently, it's hard to beat the membership pricing. I signed up for the 90 minute membership, which gets you 1 per month. Which amounts to hundreds of dollars of savings if you were to just buy them individually. The minutes roll over month to month, so if you don't make it in one month you can mix and match with other services with your credit, or extend the length of your massage. They also have opportunities for bonuses through referrals, which is a nice perk. read more

Krista gives a killer deep tissue massage and is really knowledgeable and also sweet. I have a lot of issues with my neck and shoulder and she has helped immensely. The spa itself is nice- quiet and seems well-run. I used to go to massage envy and definitely prefer it here. The experience can vary depending on your therapist- but you can always try a few different ones and find who you like.
