Unfortunately this place will never dethrone Massey's as Saintfield's main butcher. Firstly, the place is very unattractive from the outside, and highly basic inside. It gives me the impression of the freezer where the killer in the first series of Dexter kept his bodies! Secondly, where this place could have improved on Massey's would be cheapness. Unfortunately this is not the case. I recently had to buy chicken breasts from here for making sandwiches for my girlfriend's birthday party and it cost me £20 for 15 medium to small sized chicken breasts. If I had went to Asda I could have got bout ten more for the same price! On the plus side it's never too buy here if you want to come here, but that is never a good sign for a business!

Stuck in the middle of a wide variety of old-looking shops is a fantastic little butchers, one which should (but never will) blow every supermarket and chain store out of the water. With every cut of meat you could possibly want, this place had a queue of about ten people waiting to get served. Anywhere else that would be deemed bad service and you would complain. However, a long queue in a butchers is a healthy thing because it shows that people trust it first and foremost, and don't mind paying over the odds for some great food. I would definitely recommend it, not solely because it sells some really top quality meat (especially the steaks) but because it is much better to support local produce rather than processed rubbish that gets shipped in from somewhere dark and dingy.

There was a huge selection on offer and they had prepared a lot of products themselves. Marinading kebabs and ribs ready to be cooked on the barbecue. I got Rib-eye steak which was quite expensive, but it's not something I will buy all the time and its quality was worth the price. On a Saturday this place will be less busy than your nearest tescos, maybe a bit more pricey, as a single lady buying for one I spend around £30 a week on my daily shop here. When I went in the first time and asked for slimming world products the guy was like 'you're not on a diet?' I didn't hear anything else he said as I was trying to get over the counter to snog him! After I had asked for slimming world sausages, burgers and kebabs I also bought 'men's meat' for him indoors! I couldn't believe the prices - the place is a bargain! I'd read that this store was burnt out in this town a few months ago, so the folks in charge of the company right now have opened another store beside the charcoal shell. The supermarket chain, which is worth around seven billion pounds, is being bought and sold by big players in the market with TDR Capital LLP buying the shares owned by billionaire Moshin Issa last month. Moshin left his wife for an employee of EY Manchester. This fractured the relationship with his brother Issa. While it's bright and spacious I assume it's a temporary fix as it's like a giant hard canvas and steel structure, and fair play to them for providing a service to their customers. I called in to buy carrots as the preferred snack for a fussy Bichon Frieze and a dizzy mini dachshund. The carrots were 65 pence a kilo, the same price of M&S. I also got a few packs of seedless red grapes (99 pence for 375gm) from Egypt and 2 cartons of four Spanish nectarines again 99 pence a carton. The in-store staff are real mega friendly and undoubtedly mostly minimum wage to support the lifestyles of billionaires.

The store is often busy due to its reasonable prices and location therefore i would recommend you shop in the evening or during the week to avoid the weekend rush. The store is well laid out, always stocked and prices are always clearly marked. This asda is definitely the grocery hub of Downpatrick. There is more than ample car-parking in the area although at the weekend spaces can be limited.
