No samples. Not even one. Seriously. They are that confident in their product. And that's exactly what I said to the girls behind the counter when they informed me of their no samples policy. My exact words were: "Wow, that's a bold move!" While the group I was with chided me for being so rude, I actually meant it as a tip of my hat - how great is it to know that your product is so good you don't need to lure people in with "just a taste" drug-dealer marketing tactics before they commit to the full cone? And they were right. I had one scoop of chocolate chip and one of blueberry (they'll fill your cone with as many flavors as they can fit) and I was ready to go back for two more, sample-free. Noosa ice cream haven is on the corner of Hastings Street and Park Road and is a must visit on your next trip to the Sunshine Coast. There are a few quirks to this place - They only take cash so make sure you have some physical dollars on you to access some chilled taste bud tingling gorgeousness! They also don't allow you to taste any of the flavours. Somewhat strange but you can guarantee any flavour is going have you 'mmmmmmmmm'ing" and wanting to go back for more. They also do take away boxes enabling you to bring home a little bit of a taste of Noosa, so make sure you have an Eski in the car to ensure it makes the journey home. This was a recommendation as the best ice cream in town. Be prepared to wait in line for ice cream. I was a little let down. Firstly, the staff member (who must've been new) kept ignoring me. Let 3 order people order ahead of me. Despite the line. Ignoring that, let's talk about the ice cream itself. The flavours I had were pistachio, hazelnut and pink grapefruit sorbet. The nut flavours were subtle which is what you want from a nutty ice cream. The pink grapefruit sorbet was zingy and refreshing. I would suggest not going with more than one nut flavour in general. It ended up being a bit bland. The flavour selection seemed interesting enough but nothing really stood out. There was a lychee sorbet which looked quite delicious though! I'm giving this an A-OK because I wasn't overwhelmed. Perhaps the flavours are hit-and-miss and I just missed the majority. The ice cream itself wasn't super creamy or mind blowing. You could also select from either a waffle or normal ice cream cone. I believe one scoop was $5 or $6 in a waffle. Who would pay $1 for a waffle?! Regardless, boyfriend and I opted for a small takeaway container for $14. Much better value and wayyyy more icecream, (approx. 4 scoops) enough for 4 people or 2 greedy people. read more

Hot day after shopping on Hastings St, my wife and I selected Massimos for a treat. I joined them for an ice cream. I did notice that at $7 for two flavours in a 'medium' cup that the choice is between sorbets and 'ice cream' (clearly labeled) and not gelato. I can understand paying a premium for gelato and sorbet however even for great ice cream (which it was) personally i found it a little pricey. Warning: most of the ice cream contains peanut oil so it is not friendly for people with peanut allergies! I picked two flavors without peanuts or nuts and I still got all itchy after just a few bits. Also most of the ice cream contains eggs, so if you have any kind of food allergies do ask them for information. It is very rare for regular ice cream to have peanut oil so maybe they should have a sign in the store cautioning people. Otherwise my husband did enjoy his ice cream. read more

I heard from a guide book this is one of the best gelaterias in Queenland, and they weren't lying. The gelato here is so creamy and light, definitely comparable to gelato in Italy. For me, I like that this gelato isn't at all like ice cream. The lightness of it makes it gelato and doesn't make me feel as bad eating it! The tiramisu is absolutely delicious. The flavoring is perfectly on spot and was the best tiramisu gelato I've ever had. The caramel was also delicious and not over powering. Both together was a perfect mixture. This was my favorite gelato I had the entire time I was in Australia and I wish this place existed in my hometown cause I'd get happy fat on their gelato every day. Only bummer is they don't let you try out the flavors so you have to go with what you think you'd like, which worked out for me, but the fear of missing out on my favorites to try new flavors prevents me from trying new stuff. But I have heard only good things about the gelato from here, so I don't think you could go wrong with any flavor. Highly recommend going here (especially for the tiramisu!) read more

I have to say I was underwhelmed by this gelato place, despite its favorable Noosa location. The flavor choices haven't been exciting to me, and they've been out of several when I tried to look. The prices were low, but so were the portion sizes, so no great win there. When I finally tried some, it was tasty, but no great winner compared to the numerous gelato places I've tried up and down the coast. read more

I felt compelled to write of Massimo's Gelateria, of Noosa Heads. This ice cream is as good as it gets and I have yet to try anything better. Although not technically of Melbourne origins, this ice creamery attracts many a Melbournian and could quite easily trump any ice creamy in the CBD area or Lygon's busy restaurant strip if it were to move in tomorrow. This ice cream is literally heaven in a cone. Its sublime flavors range from strawberry sorbet, tiramisu, creme caramel, green tea. People from all over Melbourne make the pilgrimage to try Massimo's Gelato and they are rarely disappointed. This place even has a face book page with dedicated fans, now if that doesn't warrant a yelp review I am not sure what does! read more

One of the best gelaterias on our Australia trip, we visited twice over a 3 night stay! After dinner I took a quick look online to see where a good gelato could be found and Massimo's popped up. We headed over, with no lineup yet. Asked to try a sample - no samples! It does clearly say it on their board, but we didn't catch it and I have never been to a gelato place that doesn't do samples! Their selection isn't super extensive so we gave it a shot. We were not disappointed. The flavours were spot on, super fresh and delicious. For 1 scoop, you can choose 2 flavours which we appreciated. The best to me was the strawberry sorbet. The staff were pretty FML, but we found that with most of the servers/staff in Noosa. Go figure. Still just as good as all my childhood holiday memories said it would be. $5 for a small cup, if you're here for more than one day, I recommend one small cup per day... Best ice-cream in the Noosa area. The Ferrero Rocher ice-cream here is awesome. The coffee here is pretty good also. They have a better take-away cappa/latte than Aromas. You'll frequently find lines at this joint, but it's worth the wait. read more
