We took my 3 year old son for a trial and were very disappointed. He was shy but again he's only 3, it was his first time ever participating in an activity that didn't include a parent. Our boy went out on the mat and participated (with no tears so my husband and I were very proud :]) however, in the middle of the class at their break time they pulled my husband and I over and said he wasn't ready. Didn't even wait for the class to end!! Our son was ready to go back on the mat and they said to wait, told us to come back in 3-6 months but that's definitely not happening. It was all very rude and unprofessional. For being a place that tries to instill discipline, respect, and confidence in these young ones this was not the place that seems to do any of that. I understand he was shy but he was there with no tears on the mat, we were there to help build his self confidence and yet because he did not meet their "standards" he was told to come back at a later date. I am so grateful for discovering Master Kang Taekwondo! Our son joined several months ago as a 6 year old. It was during a time when he wasn't getting much interaction with others and spent most of first grade being home schooled. They really know what they are doing and are so great with kids of all ages (as I've witnessed them with as little as 3 year olds). We are coming up on our 1 year anniversary of being at MKT and there aren't enough words to describe how happy we have been with them. I have a son who is 10 and 2 daughters, ages 8 and 6. I originally took them as a "punishment" on a day that I had just had it with them. It was a blessing in disguise that they had been giving me a hard time that day because we came upon MKT. 30 minutes after I called, I showed up to our trial class and the rest is history. By the 1st water break, my kids were begging me to sign them up. The discipline and confidence that they help reinforce is astounding. Every class is fun to watch, the energy level is ALWAYS high, and they're pushing the kids to be the best they can be. Mentally and physically. Kids will be sore the next day, and become stronger. I never thought I would see the day where my kids would do push ups on their fists, do 60-100 jumping jacks in a 40 min span, or enough squats to strengthen their legs. I can go on and on, but I hope you get the point. You WON'T be disappointed. I will always recommend MKT if anyone ever mentions wanting to put their child in some type of self defense or physical activity. You get much more than you think. read more
