I can personally attest to their skills in this area (a number of muffler detachments, and a particularly large possum mean I've had multiple vehicle jobs done here), but the establishment is an official garage and inspection station with a wide variety of services. Good labor rates and the experienced eye of the mechanics here make Sponenberg a good garage for your next car repair. Assuming you can get in there. The one downside is I'm not the only customer, and often times there's a wait time of a few days before space is freed-up for work. Can't blame them for getting a lot of business though. I've even had an engine swap performed here.

I noticed he had a company patch from a competitor on his work shirt. I said to Frank what's up with that. A competitor comes in to have you work on their car. He came out to the car with me look at the tire and gave me all the options. It was slammed and he said it would be a long wait. He told me to come in tomorrow morning (Friday) at 7:30am and they would take care of it. He told me he wrote up the ticket and drop it off at the desk and it would be done first thing. I got there at 7:35am on Friday. When I went into the office there were 4 people in the waiting room. When I went to drop the keys off he then told me there was no ticket. Another worker who was not the nicest, asked me what the issue was and wrote up another ticket. He asked if I was waiting..I asked how long it was going to be and he couldn't give me an answer. So I decided to drop it off and walk home. The walk is around 3 miles so I wasn't too thrilled but I hoped it would be done soon. Around 11am we called and asked if it was finished or an estimate to when it would be finished. The man told my husband on the phone that we had 12 people in-front of us. I was there at 7:35am and it was 11am and I still had 12 people in front me of me??? Then he told my husband if I waited it would have been done faster...he told me that there were 12 people that dropped off this morning before me and they went in before me.. At 1pm my car was still not touched so when went back and picked it up. There was no sorry no nothing. He was also on the phone with another customer telling them that if they drop the car off at 7:30am it would be completed ASAP. I guess they didn't care if they got our service. I would never recommend them to anyone. I know they don't care but I hope no one has to experience what I did at Steve Shannon.

Sam and Codie at Steve Shannon in State College completely save the day!…read more We drove from NYC to PA for a special family reunion, and arrived with a flat tire (0 tire pressure, which I've never seen). This was shortly before the auto center was closing, but Sam kindly talked us through on the phone and waited for us to arrive to help fix. When we got there, Sam could not have been more helpful, professional and resourceful. We were set with our tires in no time. Then when Codie test drove the car, he noticed a strange noise -seems issue with wheel bearing. Most people would not have noticed that, especially since the shop was closing as they would have wanted us out. There would be no way we could have driven back to NYC like that- and we would have to wait until Monday when the shop would open again. (We all had work on Monday). Sam and Codie could not have been more accommodating. They stayed late and worked on the car, well after the shop was closed (not something most people would do on a Saturday night!). They made sure we were set. We are so grateful that they helped us out and made sure we were safe to drive back home. Honestly, we never have service like that in NYC. I would highly recommend Steve Shannon, and especially Sam, the best manager, and Codie, an exemplary technician. They care about their customers. Thanks to them we made it to the dinner reunion, and back home safely.

I was in my living room at 7am and sat there until 1 with no contact. I called IAA and was told the driver came and called and knocked on the door. This never happened. So I had to reschedule for Monday (day two of me missing work). I called at 10am asking where they were. I was told by dispatch they were going to be there in the afternoon. I received a call around 2 saying they couldn't make it and rescheduled for the next day between 9-10. So now I miss work for a third day. The driver showed up at 9:15 and was just annoyed about everything. Don't ever use this company and I have complained to peddle.com (which I never do).
