That right there means they are doing something right. The people are very nice. The locations are convenient. Booking classes is not difficult. They also have prizes for the kids when they have finished different amounts of work. Nothing like a little incentive to get them busy. They also provide emails regularly with notes about the work your child has completed. You pay a monthly fee that allows for 2 sessions per week. They are open most days. Through my two children we have been involved with this Mathnasium for over ten years. We continue because it is a place our children can explore math, at their own pace, with extraordinarily well prepared tutors (most have advanced math degrees). They both enjoy their Mathnasium sessions and have benefitted greatly in their math learning. The owner is honest, kind, concerned, involved, and a genuinely great human to work with and know. Unlike other, often over-crowded learning centers they have attended in the past, my children not only don't complain about going, but actually want to go!!!! Mark Kriston, the owner, and instructors Ashley and Christa are amazing teacher who take a genuine interest in their students. The teaching methods they use are a combination of written and tactile, and although I can't explain exactly how the "Mathnasium method" works, I can attest to its effectiveness. Not only have all thee of my children made substantial progress in math in a very short time, their learning confidence - which is directly linked to academic achievement - has quadrupled!! We started Mathnasium to help my now 11 year old master his multiplication. He has done that and more in the several years he's been attending. He has gained confidence in math and continued to get stronger in all areas of math with each year at Mathnasium. I like that they administer assessments and build a curriculum around what my son needs to work on and follow up each month with a report of what he's completed of his plan. The center manager reaches out to me if their instructors have any concerns and has always been very accessible. Overall it was the best choice for my (then) nearly 4th grader who was struggling in math. And now with the Covid hurdles and a (now) 6th grader, we've been thrilled my son has an additional 2 hours of virtual math tutoring each week. read more

I enrolled my son for enrichment purposes because his school wasn't doing enough differentiation. I highly recommend. The instructors and the owner, Mark, are great and all very proficient. My son continues to grow and doesn't mind attending (even though he's not one who loves school in general). Mathnasium has made all the difference! We had both kinds of kids in our family - one ahead of grade-level, the other beginning to struggle. As parents, we too struggled in that, though the 2nd grade math was basic, it was clear that we did not know how to effectively teach the material to our child, who was starting to fall behind. We explored and attempted various options (e.g. private tutors, iPad apps, flash-cards, workbooks, etc.). Ultimately, we sent both children to Mathnasium. At this point, our kids have been at Mathnasium for almost eleven months (including several weeks over the summer). I am proud to report that both our kids recently got an "A" in math and are above grade level. More importantly, both kids love math and love going to Mathnasium. One evening I arrived early for pickup, only to observe our child (i.e. the former struggling math student) write "I love math" on the greaseboard. It was moving. I expect that we'll be at Mathnasium until high school. I am thankful for Mathnasium and all the people there. The owner, Mark Kriston and teachers, Stephanie Black, Kyle Cornille and Nicole Stokes, are simply fantastic. As an additional aside - I recommend that you let Mathnasium teach math to your child using their method, not necessarily teaching "to their homework." read more

Your request for feedback is timely. I was just looking on your website for a way to share how impressed I have been with your organization. The staff are fantastic, the ambiance is nurturing, and the curriculum is working! The incentive-based, positive approach is an effective way to engage children. The general "good vibe" that you have in the office - from positive instructors, to soothing music to learning-is-fun banter - seems particularly conducive to learning. We are glad to have discovered Mathnasium and are certain it will help our son not only improve math concepts but also establish good study techniques across subjects. My kids have been attending Mathnasium West DePaul for 3 years. I take them there for summer brush-up so they don't forget what they've learned during the year. This center has been great for that purpose, as well as bringing math confidence to both my kids. One of them is not a huge math fan, but she rarely complains about going. The prizes they give the kids are a great motivator and the instructors are all excellent. We're really happy we found Mathnasium, too. And I notice with every passing year, I see more and more families that I know there. Everyone has wonderful things to say about this center and about Mark. I should mention, that we are all driving 20 minutes to this particular center, which is a bit of a distance from our neighborhood, but it's definitely been worth it. read more

Mark Kriston's Mathnasium is a valuable resource to families that want to challenge their young student beyond what he is already getting at school. My kid has been attending regular Saturday sessions for over a year now, and he loves going. Mark's able staff have taught my kid to tell time on an analog clock, measure heights of boxes, be concerned about changes in temperature, etc. None of this would have occured without the program being in my kid's life. Somehow the staff make the learning fun so that the young kid doesn't even realize his is studying math. I thoroughly recommend this outfit if you want to enrich your kid's life. read more

I dragged my unsuspecting and unwilling 10 year old last summer to West DePaul. I mean she was kicking and screaming; Kyle was incredibly calm, kind and patient and able to talk her into staying for the assessment, nothing short of a miracle. She's actually good at math (my older two really struggled - i blame Montessori), but because of common core pushing higher level math onto younger and younger students, she was beginning to build up the resistance i'd seen in my other kids. I wanted her to have confidence and found Mathnasium. When i came back to get her after her initial assessment with Kyle, she admitted she had had fun! We attended the rest of the summer, saw many kids from our school there :). I was so excited when they opened the Ravenswood location because we are 1/2 block away. Chris is also amazing, patient and kind. All the tutors fulfill the motto of "making math make sense". My daughter feels confident, has fun and no more tears like i was getting in 4th grade. Sure she still resists going once in awhile, but every time she comes home, she is happy and had fun. She has made lots of progress. Also my junior was coming for some help prior to ACT and even though she didn't like going, didn't like being the oldest one, she too was clearly feeling like it helped - a lot. Thank you to Chris, Kyle, Mark and the entire tutoring staff. The money is very much worth it, and actually a bargain compared to other tutors (my older kids had private tutors and never really enjoyed it the way my daughter enjoys Mathnasium, nor did we get the results we would expect). read more
